Anon, when I tell you I finished answering this ask, providing links and lyrics for the canon representation of the characters before I scrolled back up and realised you were asking about A Table Turned. Just had to share that lol, my reading comprehension is great.

Luigi
Blame it on the Neon by Leaving Thomas
Luigi in the story is just so fed up with his life in the MK, he's willing to do anything to escape it. It's alluded to in the story that Bowser didn't really have to do much to get Luigi to trust him, the cracks in the foundation were already showing, so to speak. Specifically the lyric below really sums up his choices in the story.
If I just made a big mistake, itās better made in the red shade

When talking to friends irl about my representation of Peach, I like to classify her as morally dark-grey. Clearly doing the wrong things but for the right reasons, and there's a part of her that knows she's doing the wrong things but she's so wound up in being perfect that she can't stand to admit when she's made a mistake.

Since i was summoned to this post iāll add my two cents.
I think a lot of bowuigi shippers like to just gloss over the fact that the ship doesnāt work in the mainline games and go straight to shipping. Thatās totally fine btw! Not every ship needs an mla cited thesis about why it works, sometimes you just want your blorbos to kiss. But the result of this is a lot of people who donāt ship bowuigi looking in from the outside and going āWhat the fuck?ā Which is pretty fair tbh.
Inherently, for bowuigi to work in a way thatās even remotely healthy, one of the characters (or both) has to change and most of the time it is Bowser because, yes, Bowser is actually a massive asshole in canon.
Finally, someone who gets why Bowluigi makes no sense! I swear, it has to be that one out of context scene in the Mario movie trailer where people saw "Oh, two characters in close proximity, therefore ship" and just ran with it even though there was no reason to suspect that was the context in the trailer, and when the full context was revealed, it was about Bowser worrying that he'd have romantic competition for Peach. There's nothing that Bowser would find attractive about Luigi, or vice versa. He would see a wimpy weak human and Luigi would see a huge terrifying monster.
Now does this mean that there aren't any interesting possibilities with this dynamic? Absolutely not! I could see a sort of unlikely friendship/frenemy relationship where they have things that they could learn from each other, like Bowser forcing Luigi to face his fears in the most aggressively "helpful" way possible, or maybe they could talk about the things that make them feel insecure. But I just don't see that blossoming into romance.
No I do NOT mind the ship at all! If anything, it spawns a lot ofā¦tastefulā¦art hehehehe (yeah thatās right, Iām a filthy degenerate, but Iād rather not show that here on my Tumblr. Thatās what Twitter is for lol)
But I would prefer it if the didnāt change Bowserās personality. Thatās it. And I applaud @xxno-thoughts-just-chaosxx for doing Godās work for keeping him as Bowser-like as possible in the ship.

Quick question if King boo hadn't attacked Bowser and luigi how would mario and peach fix everything between them?
I would've been slooooooooooow. Mario def still would've gone to try and patch things up with Luigi and he would've promptly been thrown off the property and out of the kingdom. He def would've started doing everything in his power to get in contact with Luigi again. Sending mail, blasting music, holding signs above his head in front of the castle doors. My guy would figure out what mountains are viewable from Bowser's castle and would be carving huge messages into the side of them in hopes that Luigi would see them and be able to read them.
I feel like eventually he'd wear Luigi down. I mean, all Luigi ever really wanted was for Mario to show that he cared and make an effort to change, so the constant attempt to get in contact with him would def spike his curiosity. They'd probably meet on very formal terms, with Bowser and Koopa guards present. Mario would probably try to hug Luigi and very swiftly get told to sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up by Bowser. Luigi would let Mario speak first cause he'd want to know why Mario suddenly had a change of heart. Luigi would be silent the entire time Mario was spilling his guts out to him about the peace treaty, how he'd been feeling over the past few weeks, what he'd learned about himself and others, and a genuine apology for his actions. Then it would be Luigi's turn to speak, and Mario would be just as quiet when Luigi questioned why it took Mario to think he was dead before he had any desire to change, how Mario had made him feel when working together, how betrayed he was when Mario didn't back him up when Peach was clearly starting to lose it. It'd probably be the most productive conversation they had in years.
Building back up a relationship between the two would be very slow, much to Mario's dismay but more in-line with Luigi's comfort level. And maybe after a couple years had passed? Mmm... Yeah, I could see them being on good terms with each other again.
Peach is dead to Bowser and Luigi forever. There is no mending that relationship since she'd never get the chance to show just how sorry she was. I feel like Mario would want to forgive her, but when given the ultimatum between being friends with Peach or staying in contact with Luigi, he'd choose Luigi in a heartbeat. Peach's relationship with all of them would become non-existent, exactly the way she thought it would when she initially told Mario that Luigi was alive. In a weird way, she'd get the last laugh since, for once, her prediction would've actually been right.

I'm kinda surprised that Bowser and Luigi invited peach to their wedding after everything that happened
I mean, her wish brought Bowser back to life. They wouldn't even be able to have a wedding if it wasn't for her character arc, so that did a lot in terms of helping them... not necessarily 'forgive' her, but move forward with her.

I just finished A Table Turned and it was just amazing. I can't find the words to do it justice. The characters felt so realistic despite it being set in the Mario world. Luigi being a dad to the Koopalings was adorable, Mario going through grief was heartbreaking, and seeing him don his red cap and overalls again near the end of the story was powerful. Peach's inner conflict was interesting and even though she did a lot of bad things, my heart broke for her and I loved seeing her redempt herself at the end.
