when Mat reacted to Normal's fantasy in the pride layer of hell by saying "Link is not trying to stop this because he is convinced none of this is bad for Normal." is so...that line is what hit me hardest in that episode because Normal sees this as an indulgent fantasy when it's just wishing for basic human respect and Link is off to the side like "wow this guy is really sad. let him have this."

Why did we just breeze past the Scary’s dad thing?
Damn no wonder she’s reacting so poorly to Terry Jr. being all nice, because it’s new and unfamiliar.
It’s so much easier to stick with familiar people, doesn’t matter if they’re bad or not, it’s at least something you already know. It’s predictable.
She’s not staying with Willy because she thinks he’ll stay, she’s already decided he’s gonna leave just like her OG dad, she’s just chasing familiarity to gain control of the situation.
