sammorrisonâ:
âAye, I think they regularly use words that Iâve never even heard of in me life,â Sam agreed with a laugh. He was always impressed by his brother and Eleanor. âI think it mightâve been a better go for Eleanor if you arrived here earlier and met her,â he said with a frown. âAs soon as I realized Scott loved her stillâbefore he even admitted it to meâit didnât take too long gettinâ to know âer that she loved him too. And that got old real fast,â he snickered. âOi, knew you were holdinâ out on me. I guess youâve got to be loyal to your wife there,â Sam teased. âDownright filthy?â he said, punctuating it with a whistle. âI knew sweet Lenore had it in her,â Sam chuckled. âWell then itâs really no wonder that the geezer proposed to you if he were so adamant about bringing you âround his family,â Sam said. He didnât know why he wanted to talk about anything else right then. âAyeâsure. But he were wrong to keep forcing you to be around them if you were uncomfortable with it,â Sam said with a shrug. âFuck them,â he said matter-of-factly. They sounded awful, and Isla didnât deserve that. âSeems like you were relieved in plenty of ways when you turned him down,â Sam said with a smirk. âAye, but I get in trouble with her old man if I try and mention sheâs got a great arse!â Sam said with a hearty laugh.
Sam rose his brows. Yeah, because you want to be in a relationship with a guy that makes you uncomfortable, he thought. He couldnât get over how much he didnât like hearing about Islaâs previous relationship. âAye, but Iâm sure if heâs buyinâ you shiny things it might be easier to overlook,â he said with a sort-of bitter chuckle. âRight, then give me regards to the great Wine King,â Sam teased, pretending to tip an invisible hat as he put on a posh accent. âSometimes Parker just drops an old t-shirt on the ground and I see the label is Armani. Or the other day, I noticed you had ten dollar artisan butter in your refrigerator, and Eleanor didnât think that was expensive for butter,â he said with a laugh. âAnd those are the times I remember theyâve got more money than Iâve ever seen in me life. But theyâre class, thatâs why I forget,â he chuckled. âAye, the poor bastard is whipped like a racehorse by your girl,â Sam said with a mischievous grin. He couldnât help but stifle a chuckle as Isla tried to insist that Sam was a romantic. He tried, and clearly it didnât work for him. He was much more comfortable keeping things light, easy. Without things that could hurt him or someone else. âThen youâve just reached a level of being that most of us havenât quite mastered yet,â Sam said, his eyes moving along her face. She was certainly something else. âBecause I knew for a fact that he was in love with Eleanor and she was in love with him. I just wanted them to be happy. You saw how they were torturing themselves. And well, Iâve got a killer new song out of it,â he smirked. âI just donât believe that you really loved him,â Sam said as he cocked an eyebrow, then held his hands up. âBut what do I know,â he added, then flashed her a smirk. âIsla, you must know that youâre the best of them?â he said like it was the most obvious thing in the world. Thatâs why it felt wrong to be so close to her sometimes. He wouldnât ever be good enough for her, and the closer he got to her the more afraid he felt. âYouâd think if he were okay with you fucking whoever you wanted abroad he wouldnât be thinking about marriageâŚâ Sam said with a hum. If he wasnât the first person so say she didnât really love her ex, then Sam knew he could be confident in his suspicions. âIs that something you want for yourself then, Isla?â he asked, referring to really being in love.Â
âSomeone needs to be,â Sam joked, though he thought it was true. âIâve tried, but apparently airinâ out her tits are more important than what I want,â he chuckled, affectionately rolling his eyes. âFrom what I hear Eleanor likes me loads better than her actual brothers anyway,â he said with a smirk. âAye, well thatâs where I get her and Scotty. They canât help themselves when I start acting like a clown,â he laughed. There was nothing he loved more than to make the people he loved laugh. It meant that he wasnât doing something to make them cry. And when he made Isla laughâŚhe had to force himself to stop thinking about it, even though heâd likely hear it again soon. âJust about as lucky as you since I always give you the best gossip I hear at that fuckinâ place,â Sam chuckled. The level of drama that could unfold at work was so ridiculous sometimes. âI donât think I could ever be bored of you, Isla,â Sam said against the skin of her neck as he gave her a squeeze. He nodded at her sentiment and smiled. He hadnât really felt as good as he did with Isla in a long time, when he thought about it. And he had a feeling she was at least some of the reason for it. âYou can ask the guys in the band, theyâre the ones whoâll tell you how annoying I get running through songs over and over,â Sam said with a shrug. He tipped his head back and laughed. âGod, that is the least surprising thing Iâve ever heard,â he said after she explained her story of how she was arrested. âI think thatâs your choice to make,â he chuckled. âBestie.â
âI think she mightâve liked the opposites attract sorta thing, but I donât think it worked like she hoped,â Sam said with a shrug. âThey were too different, I think. He sort of boiled her down to just her quirks, and didnât see her as a whole person. That were a problem,â he mused. If he were going to be serious about anything, it was always the well-being of his friends, so he kept an eye out on who they dated. Sam gave Isla a confused expression when she said sheâd never been jealous. Then he laughed. âNever been jealous? Not even of a friend or something?â he chuckled. âYouâve never wanted someone so bad that youâd throw a fist at someone who got to have them and you didnât?â Sam joked, though he was serious. He recalled that feeling when Ryan was dating Connor. It was awful, yet exhilarating. âI think you know Scottâs a tough lad by now,â he said with a smirk. That was an understatement, Sam thought. Because on top of Eleanor and Ivy, Scott was also picking up Samâs pieces too. And he still felt so guilty for it. âAye,â Sam agreed, âWhen I first met Eleanor it was at the lobby bar at the hotel, she just started there with her dolphins and invited me for a swim. Babbled on about some dolphin species shite I didnât understand, and I thought: Scotty would probably like this bird, sheâs a ride and sheâs clever. Only after I told him that little story did he tell me about her,â he tutted, shaking his head. âOi, Ivy,â Sam let out an exasperated sigh. âIvy were the bird Scott dated in Scotland a couple years after Eleanor. They were pretty serious. Ehmââ Sam scratched the back of his neck. He didnât know if he should reveal anything that Scott hadnât talked about with Eleanor, like her addiction, her near engagement to Scott, her pregnancyâconsidering Isla was her best mate. âWell she up and left him with no explanation one day. She were pretty troubled. He tried to find her but she justâŚwas off,â he explained with a frown. âLass came here specifically to get âim back, but Eleanor had arrived shortly before her and she and Scotty already reconnected. Ivy didnât really care much about that, though, was sorta cruel towards her, actually. Found that out from Eleanor after the dust had started to settle and I started getting to know her a little better. And Ivy basically told Scott she were still in love with him, hanginâ around him as much as she could. Then wellâeh, they did start hooking up,â he said with a dry chuckle. âWhile he was still hanging out with Eleanor too,â Sam shrugged a bit and smirked. âI think Eleanor only started up with Jason was because she were upset about that, but youâd have to ask her,â he chuckled. âThough once Scotty went all McGregor on âim and slept with Eleanor I think he realized who he really wanted and Ivy were out of the picture pretty quickly after that,â he said. âI donât think I personally do much to give lads a good reputation either,â Sam laughed. âBut aye, I know what you meanâbastards like that deserve what comes to them,â he said with an affirmative nod. He knew particularly how awful it was for a married man to do that to his wife, to another woman. And Scott knew it too. Sam would have done the same to Jason if he knew. âAye, Rory and Parker have been mates since they were wains,â he said with a smile. âIf Scott was writing her his love poemsââ he couldnât help but snicker, ââaye, I bet it were rather dramatic.âÂ
I trust you too. Sam felt a mixture of happiness and againâguiltâbubble up in his chest. Why did he feel guilty? It didnât matter then, all he wanted was to stop feeling bad in the moment. Looking at Islaâs earnest expression helped. He chuckled softly, and ran a hand through his hair. âMe mum and I have had a complicated relationship,â he said, and left it at that. It would be too revealing, and it would take him too long, to tell her everything heâd done to disappoint Maeve. âWeâre good now though, before you ask,â he added with a little smirk, making sure to catch her eyes. Sam couldnât let her worry about him. And now he had to deal with revealing so much of his past, all of the things he wished he could just forget. Thankfully when they were in the water, he felt much better. Lighter again. Better, with her here. Sam laughed, and grabbed Isla up into his arms, wrapping her legs around his waist and her arms around his neck. âWhat more do you want, birdie?â he asked before he kissed her.Â
âDo you ever think that theyâre just making words up to fuck with us?â Isla asked, laughing with him. It amazed her, sometimes, that she could constantly find herself surrounded by the smartest people in the room. âBlame the hotel for making the interview process so long!â She replied with a laugh. âOtherwise, all of you wouldâve heard me screaming down the halls much sooner,â She joked. âOf course you knew it before he did. Thatâs probably the least shocking thing that Iâve ever heard,â She chuckled. âIâm, like, ninety percent sure that I was the first person that Eleanor admitted her feelings to,â She said, shaking her head. âI donât think she even meant to say it to me when she did. Iâve just got the Cupid touch,â She laughed. âEleanor will know straight away that itâs me who told you. And then I wonât get the stories any more. You wouldnât want to take those away from me, would you?â Isla asked, running her hand down his chest. âDown. Right. Filthy,â She emphasized. âOf course she does. Look at her!â She grinned. âI knew that it was really important to him,â She shrugged. âAnd when you love someone, youâre willing to do things that you donât really want to, right?â She asked. Back then, there wasnât anything that she wouldnât have done to try and make things work. But every time she thought she had a way in with his family, they put up another mile-high wall to keep her out. âI think he thought that what they didnât like about me was something that they could just get over with time. He didnât realize it only made it worse until it was too late,â She explained. âTook a twenty carat weight off of my chest, thatâs for goddamn sure,â She scoffed. âSurely heâs moved on by now and theyâre happily torturing the next girl, poor thing,â She frowned. âThatâs because you probably donât appreciate it the right way,â Isla explained with a laugh, knowing that he was probably saying nearly word-for-word what she would say to Scott.
âI never liked any of that,â Isla said, scrunching her nose up. âI think he thought that I was just being modest when I said not to buy that shit for me,â She shrugged. âButâyou know me. My favorite earrings are all made of plastic,â She laughed. âI donât think I realized just how poorly I fit into the bubble of the elites until I was out of it,â She confessed. âIf there is ever some insane circumstance where I run into Andrea, Iâll be sure to tell him that my best mate Sammy sends his regards,â She joked. âWell, they donât act like people with money,â Isla agreed. âIf I didnât move into her apartment, I donât think I wouldâve ever guessed that Eleanor is as wealthy as she is. Honestly, I wouldâve assumed she grew up like anybody else,â She shrugged. âAnd I didnât know about Parker until one of you guys mentioned it to me,â She added. âIâll also just never stop being amazed by their generosity. Itâs not so common in the wealthy. At least not when thereâs no good publicity around it,â She added with an eye roll. âAnd why wouldnât he be?â Isla asked, smirking at Sam. It was tooth-achingly sweet to see Scott be so gentle with Eleanor. There was something particularly energizing to her about watching tough men melt for the women they loved. Especially when they didnât think that anyone was looking. âWhat can I say?â Isla asked, shaking her hair off of her shoulders. âI have my cake and eat it too,â She laughed. âYou can explain it away all you want, but you canât fool me, mate,â She smirked. âMaybe youâre just more like me than you thought,â Isla suggested with a smirk. âIf it wasnât love then what else would it be?â Isla asked with a shrug. It certainly felt like love at the time. More than any other relationship that sheâd ever had. âOh, please,â She said, and waved away his compliment. âI hang around with the best of them, so I just look good by proxy,â She said, smiling at Sam. He was the very best of them all as far as Isla was concerned. She felt lucky to be in his orbit in any capacity. âI meanââ Isla shrugged. âOpen relationships work for loads of people,â She argued. âBut, in hindsight, Iâm sure some of the reason he was so keen to put a ring on my hand was to close us up for good,â Isla mused. His question made her pause, then she started to chuckle a little. âSure, I guess,â She shrugged. âI think that everyone kinda secretly wants that a least little bit, yâknow?â She asked. âTo just meet a person and kinda know, yâknow?â
âYou and your brother just canât help yourselves, can you?â She asked with a laugh. âYouâve got to big brother everyone around you,â She teased, as though it wasnât one of her favorite things about them. âI just canât believe youâre trying to put a pair ofâletâs be honestâimmaculate tits in a cage,â Isla laughed. âBut I do understand your reasoning,â She added as a consolation. âYou say that as though youâre difficult to like, even though itâs very much the opposite,â She said, shaking her head at him. It was nearly impossible for her to imagine someone meeting Sam and not immediately wanting to befriend him. âIf you make them laugh first, they wonât realize what disgusting thing youâve said. Thatâs my tried and true strategy,â She laughed. âAnd donât I always love it?â She smirked. âBetween the pair of us, I think we know just about everything thatâs going on at the resort at any given moment,â She agreed. Sometimes, it was hard for her to keep up with everything that was going on around them. Every day it seemed like there was another new scandal going around. It made all the yachting drama seem so minuscule by comparison. âI could never be bored of you, either,â She replied. It was laughable to think that Sam could ever be even remotely boring. âI promise not to make you laugh or have any fun at all when we start lessons, Mr. Morrison,â Isla teased. âYeah, but then when you guys kill yet another performance and get swarmed with groupies, they forget all about the time you made them run a song four times in a row,â She said with a smirk. Isla laughed when Sam did after she told him about her arrest story. âI know, so typical,â She said with an eye roll. âIt hardly makes for a funny story when itâs that predictable,â She chuckled. âMight have to just fluctuate between the two then,â She shrugged. âTo keep you on your toes,â Isla started to grin when Sam called her bestie. âTold ya itâd catch on,â She replied with a wink.
âI see how that could be enticing,â She shrugged. âBut I also see how that could easily be a recipe for disaster,â Isla added. âDid they at least have something in common?â She asked. âYou know, aside from the fact that they were attracted to each other,â She added with a chuckle. She could see how bothered Sam was by his friendâs old relationship, and she found it so sweet. âSounds like he manic-pixie-dream girlâd her. What a fucking nightmare,â Isla said with a huff. When Sam started to laugh, she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. She didnât know what was so funny about what sheâd said, but she was happy any time she made Sam laugh. âNope, never once,â She replied with a shrug. âI just donât really see the point. The way I see itâa person is going to be with the person that they want to be with. If thatâs not you, then why would you waste your time being upset about it?â She asked. âAnd like I said, if I was jealous then I wouldâve been in agony all those months that I spent away from my ex,â Isla added. âOh, is he?â She asked, smirking back at Sam. âThat sounds like my beautiful wife,â Isla said with a dreamy sigh. âI canât believe he knew who she was just by the way that you described her,â She said in awe. âThatâs the kind of stuff that could make you cry,â She chuckled, and felt that same wonderful tightness in her chest that came any time she thought about something truly romantic. âIvy,â Isla echoed with wide eyes. Sheâd only heard a little about her, but she suspected that Sam might have the real scoop. âEleanor mentioned that she was an ex of Scottâs,â She nodded. Isla gasped at what Sam told her before she could stop herself. âOh my god,â She said, putting a hand to her chest. âPoor Scotty,â She murmured. âFrom what Eleanorâs said, it sounds like Ivy was a total cunt to her,â Isla shook her head at that. How anyone could look at Eleanor and say something cruel was beyond her. âIâm sure itâs pretty easy to have your head done in when your first love and your last are keeping your head on a swivel,â She shrugged. âMessy, messy, Scott. Eleanor mentioned he was a bit of a fuck boy back in the day. Guess old habits die hard, huh?â Isla joked. âIt is honestly so hard for me to picture Scott or Eleanor being with anyone besides each other,â She replied, shaking her head. âJason,â She said, rolling her eyes. âWait, so Scott, like what? Jumped him?â She asked. âYou might be a slut, but thatâs all part of your charm, Sammy,â Isla teased, flashing Sam a grin and scratching under his chin like he was a puppy. âAnd now theyâre here together?â She asked, starting to smile. âThatâs really sweet. And what a dream, right?â She laughed. âOh, leave your brother be!â Isla said, and swatted at Samâs chest. âHeâs letting Eleanor live the dream. I mean, who wouldnât want to be someoneâs muse?âÂ
Isla nodded when Sam told her, albeit vaguely, about his relationship with his mother. âAnd you knew I would,â She asked with a quiet chuckle. She wouldnât have been able to help herself. It was hard, almost impossible really, for Isla to stop asking Sam questions about himself. He was one of the most interesting people that sheâd ever met. âIâm happy to hear that youâre doing better, though,â She smiled. She easily wrapped herself around him when he picked her up, then chuckled against his lips when he kissed her. âWhat more do you want to give, bestie?â Isla asked, letting her nails slide up the back of his neck until she could start to play with his hair.

âIf an iPhone photo is all Iâve got to capture me layinâ a fat one on Parker, then Iâll take it. Any evidence is good enough for me,â he laughed. âI donât think they could possibly ever get bored of each other. They wouldnât shut the fuck up about each other for like, the better part of a year,â Sam said with a dramatic sigh. Though it was nice to hear Scott speak sweetly of anyone at all no matter how much he teased him for it. âI sometimes feel you might hold back a little for the sake of your wifeâs embarrassment,â he said with a coy smile as he laughed. âSo I guess he were bringing you âround his family a lot?â Sam asked, quirking an eyebrow. In his relationships, Sam made it a point to not involve family at all. Save for now, at the resort where many people he hooked up with already knew Scott. But that was different. The closest he ever got with Ryan was her taking him to his brotherâs grave and a video call with Maeve once or twice. Heâs grateful now he didnât have to explain to his extended family why she wasnât around any more. âQuite a stupid gold digger,â he chuckled. âI really donât pay much attention when they rich wankers start talkinâ if Iâm honest,â Sam said with a smirk. âIâve only just started really listening to Parker and Eleanor,â he joked.Â
âEw,â Sam scoffed when she talked about how wealthy her ex was. Of course there was some sort of intrigue into that kind of lifeâheâd been granted a glimpse of it through Parker and Eleanorâs generosity but he would never quite get it. Money wouldâve made his life a hell of a lot easier, so it was hard not to feel bitter towards it. âI know a little about wine, but just how to drink it,â Sam joked before he could stop himself. Used to drink it, he amended in his head. Then he had to laugh. This guy seemed ridiculous. âKing of Italian wines,â Sam snickered as he rolled his eyes. âHe sounds a little absurd, bug,â he said as he flashed her a smirk. âI will not,â Sam said when she suggested he stop irritating his brother. He wouldnât know how to stop even if he tried. âI think the last thing Scotty is gonna do with Eleanor is soften up,â he laughed. Though of course he knew what she meant. Scott was visibly less tense now that he and Eleanor were back together. He wasnât sure heâd ever seen him like that. He sighed when Isla pressed about his supposed affinity for romance. âLook, birdieââ he said, and chuckled before he licked his lips and made sure that she was looking at his face. âI think you understand, I like a little drama. The performance of it all,â Sam started to explain. âThe romance wellâScotty did that for himself. He wrote the words, I didnât,â he shrugged. âAnd sure, say I do think other people can be happy like that, in love or whatever,â he cringed and rolled his eyes as he laughed at himself. âBut Iâve found itâs a bit more trouble than itâs worth for me,â Sam finally finished, and gave his face a little rub. âAnd I know because Iâve done it,â he added, then cringed even harder. Why did he say that? âHmm,â he sounded when she said that she did love her ex. He wasnât really convinced with how flippantly she spoke about him. âPunching above your weight? Donât be silly, Isla,â Sam interrupted her with a serious tone. He didnât even have to meet this guy to know that couldnât possibly be true. âSorry, go on,â he said, and listened to the rest of her story. The whole idea of marriage at all made Samâ stomach go sour. Heâd never seen one that worked. It only complicated things. He mulled what she said over for a moment, and slowly nodded. He wasnât surprised in the slightest that sheâd been proposed to. Anyone should be so lucky to get to know herâhe couldnât blame the idiot for trying to keep her. But it was obvious that he didnât know what she really wanted, who she really was, if he thought he was going to be engaged to her. âWhat a sorry fucker,â he finally said, then gave her a toothy grin before he started to laugh again. âOh Isla, girl,â he tutted, shaking his head, âIf thatâs how you feel, I know thereâs not a chance you really loved the sorry fella.âÂ
âAye, she really needs to use that fuckinâ robe I got her when she answers the door, though. You never know, a fella like me or somethinâ could be there and sheâd be in trouble,â Sam joked. âOh yeah, Eleanor loves me alright. I think sheâs set a new world record for most eye-rolls in an hour when I see her,â he snickered. âLass, I can promise I mean it when I say better than anyone,â Sam nodded. Of course, he went much further beyond just annoying his brothers. He worried them, for which he felt so endlessly guilty. He was trying so hard now to make sure that Scott would stop worrying about him now. He was sober now. Maybe not okay. But at least sober. He let out a hearty laugh. âSince you sniff out sexy gossip like a bloodhound I reckon youâll live a full, long life,â Sam grinned. âNo shot, youâre far too filthy for sainthood,â he mumbled against her lips, then kissed along the side of her neck. âBut I like you like that,â he added, giving her a sultry expression as he pulled away. âOf course you donât find me annoying, youâre just as mad as I am,â he said, his expression softening into something a little more affectionate. âThen I have to warn you, music is the only thing I take seriously. If you wanna learn Iâm going to be a touch instructor,â Sam said, then smirked again. âI need my students to be kept in line,â he added before huffing a breathy laugh. âAgain?â he snorted. âLemme guessâŚdrunken disorderly conduct? Or maybe nude in public?â Sam mused with a chuckle. âI have a few ideas, girl. But you just have to get in trouble first before I show you,â he said with a wink.Â
âAye, he were pretty clean cut. Not a great match, but she liked him at the time,â Sam shrugged. âI understand why he were jealous, not that I agree with it,â he said. âI mean, a reputation like mineâŚweâd already slept together. If I were in his shoes maybe I wouldnât like me so much either,â he smirked. Not trusting Savannah was where Sam found the issue. Someone who really loved her would get over his and Savannahâs past, he knew. âYou say that like youâve never been jealous before?â he said, furrowing his brow. Sam wasnât a stranger to the feeling at all. It sucked, but it was a useful tool sometimes. âAh, no. I donât think so? We all started working together at the same time, just sorta became mates like that through employee stuff,â he mused when she asked about how Julia and Scott met. It was all too fuzzy to recall now. âOh, Scott would be dead at the bottom of the Pacific if that were the case, I reckon,â he joked. Sam was relieved that Eleanorâs arrival didnât overlap with Scott and Juliaâs relationship. He might ask him now what he wouldâve done, just out of curiosity. Sam frowned and nodded a little. âI didnât know Eleanor too well then. I tried to stay out of it. And she kept her distance from me too. Ivy didnât though. She were really interested in being friends,â Sam explained. âI tried not to entertain it much, though. I just wanted Scott to do whatever he felt he wanted to, and Iâd support âim. But from where I stoodâŚâ he trailed of for a moment, thought of the way Ivy left Scott, about her active drug used. Poor girl. âEleanor was the obvious choice. When he came to me from seeinâ her he was justâŚlight, I suppose. Relaxed. But Ivy were throwinâ herself fanny first at the lad, and that certainly can make a guy confused,â he said with a laugh. âOh, donât even get me fuckinâ started on Jason, what a fucking prick,â he said with a disgusted scoff. âHe sniffed around me mate Rory, too. Youâve met her? Sheâs a real lovely girl,â he smiled. âIâm just glad she got together with her girlfriend before he could do what he did to Eleanor,â Sam sneered. He couldnât help but smile when Isla described how Scott and Eleanor acted around one another. He noticed it too, of course. But sometimes it felt like he shouldnât be looking, like they were having a private moment in the middle of a crowded room. He remembered feeling like that once. Sam hated that he sort of missed it. âDâyou think thatâs how they acted when they were kids too?â he asked. âAye,â he agreed, smiling wider at Islaâs reaction. It was very sweet.Â
Even though Isla said that he shouldnât feel sorry for unloading his life story onto her, he still felt guilty for it. He couldnât really figure out why. ââCourse I trust you,â Sam muttered, and something inside his chest shifted. Maybe he could talk about the things that had happened to him that were out of his control, but to tell her about all of the damage he had caused made him feel sick. Whatever image she had of him was one that he didnât intend on ruining. It felt too good to have someone as wonderful as her in his life. Guilt oozed down his spine again. âMaybe now, yeah,â Sam said with a half-smile as he spoke of Maeve. He wouldnât have left Ireland again without assurance that his aunts and uncles would be looking after her. The sight of his hand against Islaâs cheek was almost too much after all of this vulnerability. He wasnât used to this. Itâd been a while since heâd spilled any of his guts. âIslaââ he began, then huffed a laugh through his nose as he dropped his head and took his hand back. It was getting stranger and stranger to call Isla his mate every day. Especially right now. How could she look at him like that and just be his friend? What are you fucking doing! his mind screamed at him. âWhat am I gonna do?â he echoed, then smirked as he recomposed himself, and prayed that Isla didnât see he lost any composure at all. Sam was a good liar. âIâll tell ya what Iâm gonna do,â he mumbled before he quickly jumped out of the bed and scooped Isla up into his arms. He ran to the ocean with her without a thought to see if any neighbors could see them naked and tossed her right into the water once he reached it, dunking himself under right beside her. It was the shock his body needed; something to bring him back to his senses. âYou want anymore, lass? I can waterboard you next since weâre out here,â he teased.Â
âIâll make sure itâs high quality,â Isla assured him. âAnything for a bestie,â She laughed. âI really donât think so, either,â She smiled. âI donât think that they can either,â Isla nodded. âSometimes when I hang out with them, I feel like theyâre speaking another language. They both are justâso clever itâs almost unbelievable,â She laughed. âAnd Iâm devastated that I wasnât here for it to get those wheels in motion much sooner,â Isla added. Just the times that she was present for were difficult to get through because she wanted it for them so badly. She couldnât imagine what it would have been like to experience it even longer. No wonder Sam was going crazy. âAnd you might be right,â She giggled. âEleanorâs cheeks can only get so red,â She added playfully. âAnd thatâs also what makes it that much more delicious when she tells me the downright filthy details about her and Scotty,â She laughed. âPretty much any time we werenât together on the yacht, weâd spend at least some time with his family. They were quite important to him, as youâve probably gathered,â She shrugged. âI think thatâs why he was so desperate for us to get on,â She added with a quiet sigh. It certainly put a strain on their relationship when Isla couldnât find a way in with them. Nothing she tried got her even a step closer, if anything, it only put her further and further back to the wall. âExactly!â She laughed. âAnd they never wanted to get that through their head. I wasnât up to their pedigree, so it didnât matter what I did,â She said with a shrug. âHonestly, the relief of not needing to earn their approval was one of the best parts of breaking up,â She admitted with a slight grimace. âWell, itâs easy to not hear Eleanor when sheâs speaking when she looks that fit,â She smirked.
âIt wasââ She paused as she tried to think of the best way to describe how it felt. âOverwhelming, to say the very least. Honestly, it made me uncomfortable for a long time. It was justâbeyond anything that I could even imagine,â Isla said, and let out a sigh. âI didnât realize the yacht we were on was his until we were already together. I assumed heâd just been employed like the rest of us,â She chuckled, realizing how ridiculous it was now. âIâve forgotten most of what I knew, now I know just enough to be impressive to couples making a wine list,â She laughed. âI know it sounds completely ridiculous, but he sort of is. Likeâwe stock a bunch of his wines at the resort,â She explained. âIt is absurd. I think most wealthy people are absurd,â She agreed. âEleanor and Parker are two needles in a lush haystack,â She laughed. âOf course you wonât,â She laughed. âBut I did have to try, didnât I?â She smirked. âNot physically, at least,â Isla added with a chuckle. It was overwhelmingly sweet to see someone as physically intimidating as Scott turn into a melt as soon as Eleanor walked into a room. She blinked a few times when Sam looked her right in the eye. She nodded a little at his explanation, though she wasnât sure that she was entirely sold. âYou can be a romantic without wanting it for yourself,â Isla argued with a shrug. âI mean, look at me. I spend all day talking about love, being around people in loveâat work and at home nowâand I genuinely love it. I think Iâm fueled by it,â She admitted, giggling. âBut, Iâm perfectly happy in my single position,â She shrugged. The pieces fell into a more understandable place when Sam let it slipped that heâd been burned by love before. Isla understood the feeling. Despite it all, she had to believe that there was love out there for her. Real love. Great love. She just wasnât sure that she was ready for it yet. âAnd yet you still believe in it at least somewhat. Or else you wouldnât have done what you did for Scott. Risking life and limb, really, after you stole his journal,â She laughed. âWhat?â She asked, squinting at him. Isla stammered when Sam interrupted, then paused to smile. âThatâs sweet of you, Sam,â She chuckled. It was hard to believe him, when Andrea was the kind of man most woman dreamed of. âHe took it really hard,â Isla nodded. âI didnât realize that weâd been on entirely different planets,â She said, then quietly sighed. âYouâre not the first person to say that,â She shrugged. âIf I didnât love him, then it was as close to love as I ever got.â
âIt is sweet that youâre so protective over her,â She smiled. âSheâll get there. Just tell her that itâs important to you,â Isla suggested. âShe does love you. Itâs how sisters act toward their brothers. I would know,â She laughed. âI guess I just find it a little hard to believe that anyone could think that youâre annoying when theyâre always laughing at you,â Isla argued with a grin. Sam was one of the funniest people that sheâd ever met, and she could hardly imagine seeing him and not being in stitches at least just once. Even now, when things had been more serious than theyâd maybe ever been, he still found a way to slip in something that made her smile. âAnd how lucky are you that I share it with you first,â Isla smirked. âImagine how bored youâd be if I wasnât this filthy,â She replied with a chuckle, then leaned her head back slightly as Sam kissed her neck. âWell thatâs definitely true. Itâs why we get on so well,â She laughed. Isla hardly knew how to explain how lucky she felt to meet someone like Sam, who really just got her. It was all she couldâve hoped for when she landed in Hawaii. âOooh, Iâll be interested to see what serious Sammy looks like,â She mused, grinning at Sam. âIâll do my best to be a good student,â She promised, then crossed her heart. âMy friends egged me on to flash an officer and, clearly it didnât end that well,â Isla laughed. âSoâshould I behave or not behave at my first guitar lesson? Youâre kinda giving me mixed signals here, bestie,â She joked.
âI just canât imagine Savannah with some all-American boy type,â Isla said with a surprised chuckle. âI could see why some clean-cut boring guy would want to get with her though,â She smirked. âI meanâI guess,â She shrugged. âBut if he really loved Savannah, and knew how important you were to her, then he shouldnât have been so jealous in the first place,â She shook her head. âWell, thatâs because Iâve never been jealous before,â She agreed. âI never wouldâve survived being in an open relationship if I was the jealous type,â She explained with a chuckle. âJealousy just feels like a wasted emotion to me. It does more harm than good,â She shrugged. âOh right, of course,â Isla nodded. âThat makes sense. I shouldâve figured as much,â She chuckled. âThe thought of having one ex on such a small island is enough to make your head spin. I canât believe Scottâs is still attached to his body after everything,â She said, shaking her head in amazement. She could hide her emotions well enough, but even she had a tipping point. âHow unlucky,â She replied when Sam said he didnât know Eleanor for a time. âI didnât want to ask Eleanor because I didnât know if it was still a sore spotâbut what was the whole deal with Ivy?â Isla asked, unable to help herself. She just wanted to know everything she could about what went on in her friendsâ lives before she got here. âLike what could she have possibly done to compete with Eleanor. Especially when I see her with Scott. It amazes me that it was ever a question,â She said, shaking her head in disbelief. âHe was unbelievableâmarried!â She exclaimed. âGuys like him really do you all a disservice,â She chuckled. âOh yes, sheâs the little pixie, right?â She smiled. âI think I saw her with Parker a few times,â Isla explained. âShe was really sweet when I met her, I canât imagine what kind of damage someone like Jason couldâve done to her,â She agreed. Isla softened when Sam asked her what she thought Eleanor and Scott were like years ago. âI want to say yes, because it feels obvious,â She nodded. âBut since they were teenagers, I reckon it was a more dramatic version of what theyâre like now,â She laughed.Â
âGood,â She said softly. âI trust you, too,â She added with a smile. It shouldâve been surprising just how quickly Isla trusted Sam. But they just hit it off so quickly, and she felt so at ease around him from the start. Of course sheâd want to share things with him now that theyâd gotten so close. She considered him as close to her as Eleanor. Maybe even closer, considering how often she saw him naked. âIâm sure that she did then, too,â Isla argued. âI mean, how could she not when youâve been taking care of her as you have?â She asked, then gave him a small smile. Isla could only hope that someone would advocate for her like that if ever a major situation arose. âSamââ She replied, and smiled at Sam as he dropped his head. She wished she could get into his head, to make sure that he actually was okay, especially after everything that heâd told her about. Isla quirked an eyebrow when Sam repeated what she said. She felt so happy just to see him smile again, and she was even happier to be part of the reason for it. Isla squealed in delight when Sam scooped her up and let out a loud laugh as they hit the water. âIs that really all youâve got?â Isla teased, grinning at him. âI think you can do better than that,â She teased.

sammorrisonâ:
âKnock yourself out birdie, just donât get lost in the closet,â Sam joked. âAs you fuckinâ should. I bet heâs gonna spring one on me when I least expect it, the bastard,â he said, playfully shaking his fist in the air. âRight now? I reckon Scott and Eleanor wouldnât be able to hear a bomb going off if it were right in front of their faces; theyâre too wrapped up in each other at the moment,â he laughed, even if he was still so happy for his brother. So happy that it was impossible to express out loud without making a fool of himself. âAs far as I know thatâs accurate. And Iâm sure youâve heard all about it from âer as well,â he chuckled. Sam pulled a face in disgust when she elaborated on the type of people that were in her exâs family. They mustâve spent a lot of time around each other. The closest Sam ever got to meeting the family was accompanying Ryan to Bristol to visit her brotherâs grave. And they certainly didnât have much more than a penny to their name, like his family. âThey sound really fuckinâ lovely,â Sam commented, cocking an eyebrow. âAye, itâs especially fun being in security when some of the more expensive guests think Iâm there to be their personal body guard.â He rolled his eyes. âOr when they come running to me spewing some awful classist bullshit about how they think the room attendant stole their watch, only to find the fuckinâ thousand dollar thing in the bottom of their beach bag the next day,â he said with a sneer. At least he had fun with his friends on the job, and he had even more fun hooking up with the daughters and sons of particularly nasty old bags with attitude problems by way of their wealth. âWas your ex a fuckinâ king or something?â he asked with a laugh. He wished he wasnât so curious about him, but he couldnât help himself. It was impossible to not want to know everything he could about Isla. âAye, exactly my thoughts,â he smiled, closing his eyes for a moment when Isla pinched his cheeks. âScott will go to his grave not giving me what I want,â he explained with a laugh. âIsla, love, I really think you might be seeing what you want to see rather than whatâs actually here,â he said, gesturing to himself. Maybe at one time Sam might have thought himself a romantic. He certainly liked romancing his dates. And the only time it turned into something more it was a heartbreak like any other. He wasnât eager to see it again. âIt is,â he agreed quietly. Sam was grateful for getting on that cruise ship every day. Even if it led him to the Ryan disaster, it led him to Scott, and Savannah, and Parker and Roryâhe could go on with everyone he loved whom he met because of it. Sam nodded slowly when she explained why she turned down a proposal. âYou didnât love him, then,â he said before he even had a chance to think about it. Maybe there were a thousand other reasons to decline a proposal, but Sam thought that must be the most obvious one. âIs there a longer version?â he asked. âYou donât have to talk about it if you donât want to,â Sam said with a shrug, even if he was curious. For someone so obsessed with love, Islaâs own love life was making less and less sense to him by the second.Â
âAye, Iâd have a serious problem with anyone who doesnât love the bird,â Sam he laughed. "They wouldnât have teeth anymore if I so much as heard a negative word about her,â he smirked. And heâd made good on that promise before, feeling smug as he thought about when heâd fought Sebastian for her. He barked a laugh when Isla tried to defend herself. âYou didnât have to, I know where I stand with our dear Eleanor,â he said as he calmed down. âBirdie, I think I know better than anyone what itâs like when a sibling is annoyed with me,â he chuckled, though the thought of Eleanor actually becoming his sister-in-law made him feel very warm. He wondered when Scott wanted to propose, and how he would do it, since there wasnât really the question of if he was going to. He tried to follow what Isla was saying about her besties and decided it was probably best just to smile and nod along. She certainly was a riot. âLove, I donât think Eleanor, your best mate would stop telling you about her sex life, no matter how much she wants to kill me when I bring it up to her,â he said with a satisfied grin. âAye, so fuckinâ charitable,â he said with a little eye roll, kissing her back. âYou like me so much you can hardly stand it,â Sam teased with a smug grin. They certainly spent enough time together. He gave her an over-exaggerated nod when she tried to insist that his brothers didnât really mean it when they said he was annoying. Sam knew he could get on peoplesâ nerves, and sometimes he did so on purpose. âIt doesnât bother me much when Iâm told Iâm annoying anyway, and I bet I can ring Scotty right now and heâll tell you he certainly does mean it when he says it,â he chuckled, shaking his head. âWhatâre you a terrible student or something?â he laughed. Sam had taught girls he was seeing how to play a few things before, but most of them never lasted long. Except for Ryan, of course. She was just really catching on when she left. âAye, Iâd love to. I know a tiny bit from picking up the fiddle here and there in pub bands but Iâm not very good at it,â Sam shrugged. He wasnât good at much, but he was good at learning how to play instruments. It was the only thing that made sense to Sam, really. âYou donât?â Sam asked with a smirk when she said she didnât want to get put in cuffs. âI reckon being in trouble can be pretty fun,â he said, tracing his fingers lightly over the inside of her wrist then huffing a little laugh through his nose.
Sam barked a laugh, and rubbed at his face a little. âAye, Iâve got a few stories about them,â he said with a smirk. âCaleb was a fella from Boston, a bit uptightâdefinitely too uptight for my Sav. He were a bit threatened by me,â Sam explained with a guilty grin and a shrug. âAnd maybe I didnât do anything to stop âim from feeling like that. But if your lass tells you you have nothing to worry about and that lass is Savannah, of all people, I reckon you should just trust 'er. And apparently he didnât. I didnât like him much,â Sam said. âBesides, somethinâ already did happen between us, and nothinâ came of it. So I guess he were just insecure about 'er living with me.â It was laughable to Sam at the time, because he wasnât going anywhere, and Caleb should have known that coming into his relationship with Savannah. âThen Julia, well, she were a good mate of mine for a bit too,â he said, an uncomfortable feeling creeping up the back of his neck when he thought about how often he and Julia drank together, with Scott too. âShe just always had one foot out the door, you know? Then two feet out the door and me poor boy was heartbroken,â he said with an over-exaggerated pout before he laughed. âThough he did get over her pretty quickly since Eleanor showed up, then not long after Ivy, who Iâm sure your wife has already given you an earful about,â Sam smirked. âAnd all of that was just a fuckinâ mess Iâm grateful is over,â he added with a hearty laugh. âWhat, is Scotty carryinâ her around the flat so her feet donât have to touch the ground? Or somethinâ else to show what a sucker he is?â Sam snickered when Isla cooed over his brother and Eleanor. Though of course he was more than happy for them too. Her reaction was so cuteâthe way her nose scrunched upâthat it almost threw Sam for a moment. Almost. Though that was much easier to stomach than Islaâs features twisted up, making a face that he could only assume meant she was trying not to cry. That was the last thing he wanted to do to her. He nodded and looked at her with wide eyes when she expressed that she was sorry about what happened. Sam didnât like to be pitied, which was one of the reasons he hardly talked about the things heâd been through. But Islaâs lips on his hand actually felt comforting. Everything she said was always so earnest. Sam loved that about her. âYeahâIâŚâ he began, then coughed a little, scratching the back of his neck. âI didnât mean to say all of that, really, Iâm sorry,â he said, even if sheâd just thanked him for sharing it. âI hope tâgod itâs for the better,â he said with a breathy laugh. Of course he worried every day about Maeve. After all, he was all that she had left. He was just grateful Irish Catholics didnât believe in condoms so she had seven other siblings mulling around Donegal to take care of her when Sam couldnât. âIâm okay, birdie,â Sam said softly, mustering up a smile for her. Looking at Isla, it was easy to believe a lie like that. âA little sensitive is not really how Iâd describe Savannah,â Sam barked a laugh. âWith talk like that it seems like youâre asking to see an angry Irishman,â he teased, raising his brows. âWhich I really donât think you wanna do,â Sam finished with a playful grin, even if heâd actually rather choke than reveal to Isla the extent of his rage.Â
âAs if that would ever be something Iâd be bothered by,â Isla laughed. âAnd besides, if itâs lost in your closet, that means itâs easier for me to steal,â She said, wagging her eyebrows. âSo Iâll just start carrying around my camera at all times, then,â She laughed. âBecause I donât feel like an iPhone camera can really capture the essence of love like that,â She joked. âAnd thatâs what I like to hear. Iâd be concerned if they got back together this soon and were bored of each other,â She shook her head. âI mean, itâs concerning any time youâre bored around your partner,â She said with a shake of her head. âI might have caught some details on a night out or two,â Isla giggled. âBut I share the juiciest bits with you, you know that!â She exclaimed. âTell me about it,â Isla said, groaning as she rolled her eyes. âYou know, itâs funny now to think about how convinced they were that I was a gold digger. If I was one, I was a really shit one,â She laughed. âBecause what kind of gold digger would voluntarily work for half the year on her own?â She asked, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion. There was really no getting through to Andrea when she expressed how upset she was over how his family talked about her. Maybe he just didnât want to believe it, or maybe he really was convinced that it was just a growing pain that they would eventually move on from. âOh god, I can imagine. Iâm sure some of those people are the same ones that think weâve got a private airport for them,â She said with a snicker. âBut really, that does suck so much. And Iâm sure the resort management loses their absolute fucking mind when someone on staff gets accused of something like that,â She replied, rolling her eyes at the absurdity. âAnd Iâm sure that when they find out that it was their mistake, they make no effort to apologize for causing a scene,â She grumbled, then shook her head. âAt least the one-percent arenât the only people around,â Isla added with a smile. Everyone that she worked with had been great so far. Isla barked a laugh at Samâs question about Andrea. âHe wasnât royalty, but his family is richer than a lot of royal families. So likeâkinda,â She shrugged. It felt funny to talk about Andreaâs wealth, and she knew how hyperbolic it sounded when she described it. âI dunno if you know anything about wine, but his family owns the Trevisani vineyards in Italy. Heâs Andrea Trevisani,â She laughed. âSo a king of Italian wines, I guess,â She said with a shrug. âMaybe stop being a knucklehead around your big tough brother then,â She teased, giving Samâs head a few gentle knocks. âI dunnoâmaybe heâll soften up now that he has a girlfriend,â Isla replied with a wide grin. Sometimes, she would catch Scott and Eleanor in the kitchen or on the couch and they looked so sweet that she could hardly bear it. âNo, I think Iâm seeing just fine,â Isla grinned. âLike I said, you stole your brotherâs notebook and composed a song out of his love poems. Youâre already at a disadvantage here, bestie,â She said, then smirked at Sam. âAnd besides, me and Cupid are besties. I know when someone is on our team,â She added. âI think I did,â Isla said, her eyebrows furrowing as she thought about it. âBut I didnât love him enough,â She explained. âNo, I donât mind talking about it,â Isla shrugged. Talking to Sam about anything felt about as easy as breathing. âThereâs always a longer story, isnât there?â Isla asked, quirking an eyebrow. âI mean, I always kinda knew that I was punching well above my weight with AndreaâI mean, heâs beautiful and fun and adventurous and open, and for someone born with sixteen platinum spoons in his mouth, heâs really very generous,â Isla explained. âAnd I was happy with him. He was a really great boyfriend.,â She shrugged. âBut then, yâknow, he got down on one knee and I realized that I had never once thought about being his wife. And I saw this whole life flash before my eyes and it was fucking terrifying,â She shuddered. âThereâs no silence as loud as the one that follows will you marry me?â She said with a sigh. âSo, yeah. He proposed to me, I said no, and then less than six hours later I had to get on a flight to Thailand to get on charter for the next six months,â She explained. âI didnât even feel upset that weâd broken up. I just felt guilty about how heartbroken he was.â
âAnd no one could blame you for that,â Isla agreed. âSheâs a sweet little beach fairy. I think youâd have to be insane not to fall at her feet,â She added with a laugh. âI canât believe that there is a heart cold enough to not warm up to Sav. Especially when she gives such a warm welcome,â Isla smirked. It was practically impossible to forget. âOh please, she loves you!â Isla exclaimed. âDonât be silly,â She added with a smile. âBetter than anyone?â She asked, quirking an eyebrow. âI think you forget that youâre talking to the queen of annoying her siblings,â She laughed. âIf that day ever came, then I think that would just whither up and die. You know how Tinker Bell dies without applause?â Isla asked, then started to smirk. âThatâs how I am with sexy gossip,â She giggled. Isla smirked when Sam rolled his eyes. âIâm gonna get canonized if I keep this up,â She teased, then leaned in to give Sam another quick kiss. She couldnât help that Sam was the best sex she had on the island, and she couldnât help how well they got along. Of course sheâd want to spend more time with him. âThatâs interestingââ Isla tutted. âBecause I was thinking that it was the other way around,â She giggled. âScotty could tell me a hundred times and I wouldnât believe it,â She shrugged. âIâve never found you annoying at all,â Isla smiled. âNo, I donât think itâs that. I mean, I picked up violin pretty quickly,â She chuckled. âI just get distracted pretty easily,â She admitted guiltily. âWell, then youâre on,â Isla grinned. âBecause Iâve been arrested? No, not again,â She laughed. âBut if youâve got another reason that I should be put in cuffs then Iâm all ears, bestie,â She smirked. âIt can be very fun.â
âWellâ?â Isla asked, then settled in against Sam as he started to talk about Savannah and Scottâs old flames. âI canât even imagine Savannah being with someone who doesnât look like theyâve just left some hippie commune,â Isla joked. âIâve never understood that. Likeâhow could you be jealous because someone has a friend?â She shook her head. âI donât blame you for leaning into it. If he was playing stupid games, he should have won stupid prizes,â She chuckled. âI probably wouldâve done the same,â She added. âI donât imagine Sav is anything but honest,â She shrugged. âOh really? I never would have guessed. I was starting to think he was your bestie before I got here,â Isla teased, shaking her head at Sam. It was sweet to see how protective Sam was over his friends. She understood the feeling. âYou would think that wouldâve been comfort to him to know that any flame there was well snuffed out,â She shrugged. âJealousy does really weird things to people, I guess. I donât really get it,â She said with a thoughtful frown. She was grateful that sheâd never been jealous. It sounded fucking awful. âDid you introduce her and Scott? Or did you two become friends after the fact?â Isla asked. The way that her friends lives were all connected was starting to feel like a sexier Love Actually. âIâd say poor Scotty, but who knows what wouldâve happened with Scott and Eleanor if heâd had a whole girlfriend when she got here,â She said, shaking her head. âEleanorâs told me a few things about Ivy. But I didnât really want to ask too much about it. It sounded like a really shitty time for my Eleanor,â Isla frowned. Thinking about how hurt Eleanor was, and how she wasnât here to help her, broke Islaâs heart. âI canât imagine what it must have been like with Ivy, Jason, Eleanor, and Scott. Just from what Eleanor said, it sounds like it was a fucking insane time,â She chuckled, shaking her head in disbelief. âItâs not even that. Itâs just seeing how they look at each other, and how they move around each other. Itâs justâitâs really obvious that theyâre really just so in love. Like, you just know that theyâve found the One, yâknow?â She smiled. âI just feel lucky to get to see my mates so happy,â She added with a content sigh. âPleaseââ Isla shook her head. âYou have nothing to apologize for,â She quickly assured him. âI really do appreciate that you feel like you can trust me with things like this,â She said, and she really meant it. It felt good to know that your friend felt safe with you. Isla tried very hard to make all of her friends feel that way. âIâm sure that she feels that it is,â Isla said, and smiled softly when Sam laughed. She ran her thumb along Samâs knuckles, then leaned them against her cheek and smiled at him. She hoped that he really meant it, and wasnât just being shy after revealing something about himself. âAnd whatâs so wrong with that?â Isla asked with a giggle. âMaybe I am,â She replied with an innocent shrug. âNo, I think I really do,â Isla teased. âEspecially when youâve talked such a big game. Whatâre you gonna do, Irishman?â

âBe me guest,â he chuckled. âItâs pretty messy in there, I donât get to organizing much,â Sam said with a shrug. He did his best to keep the common areas of the house as neat as possible, but his bedroom was somewhat of a disaster area. âOh, if Iâm getting Parker to kiss me it better be for an audience, preferably one with video cameras,â he laughed. âAnd what more could I want for me mates than to be shagging all the time?â Sam said with a playful sigh. âI think something classic, like Letâs Get It On or True, somethinâ in that vein. Something ridiculously corny,â Sam said, bouncing his eyebrows. âOr we could go cursed and do like, The Hamster Dance,â he suggested as he laughed. âExactly, so no oneâs really coming for you as a person because I just donât see anyone who could,â Sam said with a grin. Isla was so sweet, so bright and full of life that the thought of anyone not liking her was a laughable concept to Sam. âIâm sure those rich people on the yachts were nightmarish, aye. But again, theyâre just pissy toddlers that arenât happy about somethinâ that doesnât matter to real people, so they take it out on staff, like the rich brides here,â he shrugged. âWhat kind of fuckinâ resorts have private jets?â Sam said with an incredulous laugh. As much as he liked working at the resort he still felt a twinge of distaste for the oppulence that much of the guest population displayed, along with their shitty attitudes. When he got close with Parker, then Eleanor, he was honestly taken aback by how down to earth they were. It reminded him not to be so judgmental. âYou girls are sweet,â Sam said with an affectionate grin as he spoke of Isla and Eleanor. âI try to keep Scottâs fists away from me pretty face, you know?â he joked, giving his jaw a few light licks. âThey wonât learn, which makes it all the more fun for us to expose that everyoneâs just as much of a horny bastard as me and you,â Sam said with a loud laugh. âAye, sure, one girlfriend and Iâm make of sweets,â he huffed with a little eye roll. He tried it and when it was good it was really good, amazing evenâbut when things with Ryan became bad it was awful. Sam didnât know if he could do it again and make it out sober. ââS alright,â he shrugged when Isla apologized. âWe met on that cruise ship I worked on. Same one I met Scotty,â Sam explained. It was easier to talk about Ryan the farther away her departure became. It still felt strange talking about an ex-girlfriend with someone he was hooking up with, even if it was easy for Sam to talk about anything else with Isla. âMmm,â Sam sounded when Isla said it was different to share something with a romantic partner. âSo what made you turn down a marriage, Madame Cupid? Not the lad for you?â he asked with genuine interest. âIâd say Iâve got a pretty class system set up here,â he said with a smirk. Maybe sometimes the endless string of people in his bed did get to him sometimes, but overall he knew it was for the better not to burden people with his bullshit. He had fun, they had fun, no one got hurt. âAye? Glad to hear it,â he said with a sly smile when Isla said Lucy looked like she was interested in Parker. He made a motion to bite her finger when she tapped his nose, flashing her a smile.Â
âI think they were more than happy to see their favorite customer talkinâ to their brother,â Sam said with a warm chuckle. He didnât know anyone who wouldnât love to have Savannah in their lives. âWhen you say the girls, you can just say Eleanor,â Sam laughed, giving his head a little shake. âI donât reckon Savannah would have much of a problem with me infiltrating either,â he said with a knowing smile. âNow dear old Eleanor has a limit with me before I think sheâs about ready to bite me âead clean off,â he elaborated with a belly laugh. âEveryoneâs your bestie,â he said with a smirk. âSo Iâm not to take the piss on Scotty with that sort of information? Thatâs asking too much of me, babe, please,â he said with a playful whine. âLike she doesnât suspect that gob of yours sharing any sexy gossip you might have,â Sam teased, pressing a quick kiss to her lips. âCharity work now and thenâŚâ Sam grumbled, then moved to grab Isla around her waist with his arm, pulling her in flush against him. âNow and then isnât really accurate, is it birdie?â he chuckled against her neck, stamping a few kisses there before he let her go and relaxed against his pillows. âAye, so cute,â he laughed with a little eye roll. It mostly just hurt to think of those times with Tom when he was just a young boy. And it hurt even more knowing that there were parts of his childhoodâmemories of Tomâs lifeâthat heâd lost to years of drinking. It was one of the things that kept him up at night. âOh I appreciate the sentiment, lass, I do,â Sam said, bringing himself back to the present, âbut I do think Tom meant and Scotty means every time theyâve called me annoying, just in addition to having that pesky obligation to also like me since weâre brothers,â he laughed. âDo your worst, bug, I promise you it takes a lot to annoy me. Actually, the most annoying thing to me is being boring, which I just donât think youâre capable of,â Sam said. He grinned when she expressed enthusiasm for learning to play guitar. Sam always loved to get people excited about music, and he thought he was a decent teacher. Tom had taught him to play the piano himself, and how to be a teacher. âOf course I want to teach you,â he assured her. âIâve got an old acoustic guitar I can restring for you, Iâll fix it up and then we can start,â Sam smiled. âI feel like itâd be particularly cruel have that sort of law in Hawaii,â he groaned. âWell on me property the law is no shirt no shoesâŚâ he laughed, then raked his eyes over Islaâs bare chest and torso again. âYouâre quite the law abiding guest.âÂ
âEh, theyâre pretty different places to live,â Sam shrugged. âBut I think here,â he decided, giving Isla a little smirk. Heâd been in the thick of his addiction in San Francisco, but he hadnât driven his life completely into the ground yet. But in Hawaii, he was sober, got to spend time with his brother, even if he had reached his lowest point here when he had his accident. âAye, both of them had their faults, to say the least,â Sam agreed when he spoke of Julia and Caleb. They were distant memories now. âMuch better off, lass, at least I think so.â Sam had never seen Scott as happy as he was now with Eleanor and Savannah was sober, dating anyone she liked and now seemed to have quite the crush on this new guy. He felt so relieved that they both moved on. And it reminded him that he could do it too. Sam carefully watched Islaâs face as she reacted to what he revealed about Tomâs death. âIt was his birthday,â Sam elaborated. He wanted so badly to stop, because divulging in the details of the night Tom died always made Sam spiral. Though he didnât feel dizzy yet, here with Isla. âTwo days before mine,â Sam added with a sad smile. He felt even more grounded when she took his hand. âAye, well, it certainly wasnât easy,â he quietly chuckled. It was painful to uproot his motherâs entire life when he finally rid her of James. But in the end it was for the better. At least Sam fucking hoped so. âI think sheâs okay now,â he said, because he had to believe it himself to get to sleep at night, which sometimes he didnât. Sam cringed when he was reminded again about the heaviness of his story, even though Islaâs sentiment was supposed to be sweet. He wished he knew why it was still so hard for him to talk about the things heâd been through. He guessed he didnât want anyone to view him as weak, or vulnerable, or sad. Even Isla. âAhâyeah,â he said awkwardly, rubbing the hand that wasnât holding Islaâs over his face. âI think it wouldâve been a wee bit fucked to drop the news that her bastard husband was an even bigger bastard than we all knew then fuck off to a tropical island,â Sam said with a chuckle. âMe?â he echoed with a little scoff and gave his head a little shake. The truth was he was not doing particularly well and what was also true is he would never tell the truth about it. âIâm just fine. So long as James never sets foot in Donegal again, Iâll be grand for the rest of me life,â he said with a weak chuckle. âSavannah cries if the wind changes, are you kidding?â Sam laughed. âOh, birdie, are you trying to get yourself in trouble here?â Sam teased. âBecause you might offend some Irishmen around here with talk like that.âÂ
âI donât think you understand the lengths that Iâm willing to go to in order to play dress-up,â She laughed. Isla knew herself well enough to know that sheâd be too focused on what she could find in Samâs wardrobe to care about whether or not she found it on the floor or in the closet. If anything, it would make it feel like more of an accomplishment to put something together. âIf I even get so much as an inkling that Parkerâs gonna kiss you, you already know Iâll be bringing out my good camera,â She laughed. âIâm gonna make it my lockscreen,â She added with a smirk. If she wouldâve known how many stupidly sexy people sheâd meet when she moved to Hawaii, she wouldâve made the move ages ago. âBecause youâre a good friend who wants the very best for his friends,â She agreed with a serious nod. âWell, I think it depends on what you think they could power through,â Isla shrugged. âThough, I have to imagine that theyâre just going at it like rabbits right now, all that pent up tension and all,â She added, wagging her eyebrows. âMost of the time theyâre not,â She agreed. Isla didnât mind catching a tough word or two from one of her clients because she knew how much pressure they were under. Even if she might slip a less-than-kind word in when her friends asked about her day. âThe people on the yachts were nothing compared to my exâs family,â Isla said with an exasperated chuckle. âThe people on the yachts calmed down once they got what they wanted. Just like toddlers,â She agreed. Part of her wondered what Andreaâs family was like now that they had what they wanted. Part of her believed that they hadnât changed much, or that theyâd turned their guns to whatever girl Andrea was surely seeing by now. âI mean, you must see it here constantly too,â She added. âI guess some other resorts have services that pick people up from the private airports?â Isla suggested with a shrug. âIâve never really experienced anything like that. My exâs family always had their own drivers so it was kinda a non-issue,â She continued. âBut, now Iâm very familiar with the staff at Paramount Business Jets,â Isla laughed. âWell, we are in love, soââ She joked. Isla was unbelievably grateful that the first two people that she met in Hawaii were Sam and Eleanor. She didnât think she couldâve had a better welcoming committee. âYouâre the frontman in a band, you canât have anyone fucking with the moneymaker,â Isla teased, pinching Samâs cheeks between her fingers and giving his head a little shake. âYouâd think theyâd just cave and admit it already, at the very least to get us to stop poking them about it,â She laughed. âHey! Sometimes one is all it takes!â Isla argued with a grin. âAnd if that didnât, then you singing a love song just so your brother and his girlfriend will get together gave you away,â She added, smirking at him. âIsnât it crazy how one decision can change your life so completely?â Isla asked with a shake of her head. âLife is so fun in that way,â She added, grinning at him. âWell, thereâs a long answer, and a short answer. The short answer is that something in my gut said no the second he finished what was, for all intent and purpose, a perfect proposal,â For someone else, she finished in her head, then huffed a quiet chuckle. âI wonât bore you with the longer version of that, donât worry,â She assured him with a wave of her hand. âYouâve definitely done quite well for yourself,â Isla agreed with a laugh. She had to agree when she was living the same way. It wasnât that she was even closed off from the idea of meeting someone and pursuing something serious, but the mess that was made of her last relationship did make her a little afraid. She wasnât sure she was ready to have the Hawaii fun ruined for her just yet. âIâm calling it now. Theyâll be a something in a couple weeks.â
âWell, who wouldnât be happy to have Savannah date their brother?â She asked. âIf I wasnât literally obsessed with my siblingsâ partners I wouldâve already tried to make Savannah a Bennett,â She laughed. âI didnât say that!â Isla argued, even if Sam had caught her. Of course he would know off the bat, considering how much time Isla spent with him. âBesides, youâre basically in-laws now, and that makes you siblings. Siblings get annoyed with each other,â She chuckled. âYeah, and?â Isla asked with a shake of her head. âYouâve got besties, then best-bestiesââ She explained, giving a little shrug. It all made perfect sense to her. âYou canât!â She emphasized. âBecause Eleanor only suspects that Iâm telling you to gossip. If she has evidence, then the sexy gossip train might leave the station for good,â Isla explained before Sam kissed her. She giggled in surprise when he grabbed her, then gave a small shrug. âMaybe not the most accurate,â She said before taking Samâs face in her hands. âIâm a charitable woman, what can I say?â Isla asked before giving him a quick kiss. âIt is!â She cooed, grinning as Sam rolled his eyes. âI mean, I donât really see how they could say youâre annoying and mean it,â Isla said with a shake of her head. âI donât think youâre annoying at all. And besides, siblings are always taking the piss, doesnât mean that they arenât at least amused by it,â She shrugged. âAt least, thatâs what I tell myself when Addie calls me annoying,â She laughed. âOh Sammy, sweet bestie, I donât know if you know what youâve just signed yourself up for,â Isla said, grinning devilishly at him. âWell then, letâs do it!â She enthused. âSounds like fun. I donât know if youâd be interested, but I know how to play violin. Iâd be happy to teach you something, too,â She grinned. âI would have to agree. If I was in charge, every beach would be at the very least topless,â She said, shaking her head. âWell, I donât want to get put in cuffs because Iâm in trouble,â She smirked.
âThatâs fair,â Isla nodded. âI think itâs probably hard to compare Maui to anywhere else,â She mused. Isla knew that Maui was nothing like anywhere else that sheâd been, but most of that she would attribute to the people that sheâd met here. âSounds like youâve got a story or two about them,â Isla asked, smirking devilishly at him. âIâm all ears for the gossip, of course,â She chuckled. âI didnât even need to know Scott before to know that heâs much better off now. Seriously, when I see the two of them together round the flat it takes everything in me not to just start whining over how sweet they are,â She laughed. âI justââ She scrunched her face and gave her fists a little shake. âLove, you know? Itâs fucking incredible,â She said shaking her head and giving a little shrug. âAnd Iâm sure youâre happier to see them moving on and doing better,â She added with a smile. It quickly faded, however, as Sam started to tell her more about what had happened to his brother. It took every ounce of restraint that she had not to start crying for him. He didnât need that from her. âOh Sam,â She whispered. âI cannot even begin to imagine what that must have been like for you,â She murmured, then pressed her lips to his knuckles. âThank you, for sharing that with me. I know itâs probably not easy,â She said, giving his hand a squeeze. âI believe it. Itâs a big change, for the both of you,â She nodded. âBut itâs all for the better, right?â Isla added with an optimistic smile. âIâm sure she feels a lot better knowing that sheâs got a son like you looking out for her,â She added. âNo, I definitely think you made the right call. You canât go through something like that alone,â Isla said, shaking her head. She could hardly believe how much Sam had gone through, and that he could still manage to be so bright and happy. She didnât know if sheâd have the same constitution. âYes, you,â She said, smiling gently at him. âIâm glad youâre doing okay after all of that,â She replied with a small nod. âThereâs nothing wrong with being a little sensitive!â She argued with a giggle. âWhat kind of trouble am I getting myself in?â She asked, quirking an eyebrow. âIâm just saying the truth, after all,â She added with a smirk. âBut hey, youâre welcome to try and catch up anytime.â

âSorry I havenât gone through me whole wardrobe for you, lass,â Sam said with an eye roll. âSo dramatic, lass,â he teased, reaching out to grab her nose between his knuckles to give her a little pinch. âOne of these days Iâm gonna get Parker to lay one on me. Just tryinâ to make it one of those speak it into existence type of things,â Sam joked. âThe only time I wonât annoy them is if I know theyâre gettinâ laid. Who am I to ruin that? Though now that Scottâs got Eleanor and we know sheâs not going anywhere, the door for me to fuck with them more often has definitely been cracked open,â he chuckled. âNext time Iâm âround yours we can break out the speakers for them, aye?â Sam suggested with another laugh. âWell theyâre not angry with you, as a person, are they?â he pushed. âI think taking any sort of rage out on you has to be some sort of negative karma,â Sam said with a smirk. He swallowed. He wondered what Isla would think of him if she met the angrier version of Sam. He was still there, but heâd done a pretty bang-up job at keeping him caged. Especially around her. Sam would rather choke than destroy whatever image Isla had of him. âLike Iâd expect anything less from two girls like you,â Sam said with a soft smile. He barked a laugh when she suggested fighting Scott for Eleanor and gave her an exaggerated nod. âAye, reckon youâd take him down in one swing with those guns,â he teased, shooting her a wink. âI thought you liked when I teased you?â Sam said with a wry grin. âThe good thing is when I do piss Scotty off, which is often, Iâve taken some pretty nasty hits in me life. So Iâm already prepared for it,â he explained with a hearty laugh. âExactly, no oneâs gonna get past you and I if theyâve just been shifted, are they?â he chuckled. Something turned in Samâs stomach while Isla recounted her relationship with Andrea, and he didnât know why heâd even asked about it in the first place. âI do yeah,â he agreed quietly. âI had a girlfriend for a while. Not too long ago. Ryan,â Sam blurted out before he could stop himself. There was something wrong about bringing her up while he was naked in bed with another woman, but it was just so easy to say anything that was on his mind to Isla. Their relationship was as fun as it was confusing sometimes, but Sam was just happy to be riding it out, and that Isla seemed to enjoy it too. âAck, I donât know about that. Iâve done some pretty remarkable things with Savannah and Scotty and all,â Sam said, waving a hand. Maybe a part of him did agree with Isla, but a larger part of him, the one that believed he wasnât meant to be in a romantic relationship, refused to concede to it. âAnd the things I canât do with them, well..Iâve got that worked out pretty well,â he added with a laugh, wagging his eyebrows at her. âAye, laddieâs trying,â Sam chuckled, then laughed harder when she continued. âI think weâre all aware that if a birdâs into women we stand no chance against ya,â he teased. âSo best stay out of it, youâre right,â Sam laughed.
âAye, thatâs where they met. She were friendly with his sister and heâd be round the shop sometimes bringinâ his art to sell or somethinâ like that, Sav said,â Sam explained. âGirls nightâŚplus Sam, right?â he said with a smirk, shooting her a little wink. âI mean, you and Sav are me best mates, how cruel would it be if Iâm not invited!â Sam laughed. Though it was quite sweet how Isla had already gotten on so well with all of the girls. Not that he expected anything less with the way she and Eleanor got close so fast. âI think Scotty wishes Iâd let him breathe for a moment about it, but thatâs not gonna happen. Poor bastard canât go all mum on me now that I know Eleanor tells you everything anyway,â he said with a devilish grin. âOi! Whatâs that say about you then?â Sam exclaimed, grabbing her hands from his sides and laughing as she writhed to break free. He kissed her knuckles then let them go. âIâm sure she appreciates not havinâ the attention on her then,â he chuckled. âTom was more like me. I mean, I were pretty much his shadow, which yeah, he did find a bit annoying sometimes,â Sam laughed, then sighed. Tom was the reason Sam retained any sort of joy to his personality after he died. He knew that if he became some sort of shut in heâd be turning in his grave. As if everything else Sam had done wouldnât disappoint him too. Sam furrowed his brow. He never really thought silence annoyed him. But if he was keeping busy with loud music and people and conversation it didnât leave enough room to wallow in his feelings. And he didnât like to sit in those at all if he didnât have to. So he supposed she was right. âItâs just really hard to find someone as fucking gorgeous as you annoying, trust me. A lot of people would say the same,â Sam said, cocking an eyebrow as he snapped out of his head. âOh, sure, but I just dunno if youâll ever be able to catch up with me, lassie,â Sam teased, kissing her before she could argue back. âYou want me to teach you?â he asked, raising his brow when she said she wanted to learn the guitar. Nothing made him happier than teaching his friends how to play. Just like Tom had taught him the piano. âWell if itâs a party here no one would bat an eye. Between Sav and I people expect something strange to happen most of the time,â he laughed. âI donât know why you bother wearing shirts at all,â Sam teased, raking his eyes over her again before moving his gaze back up to her face.Â
âI am,â Sam said, but didnât elaborate just yet. Navigating the things that have happened to him was hard enough in his mind, let along telling someone about him. âYeah, pretty much. Itâs a cool city. On the water, lots of art and shit there. I liked it,â Sam said with a fond smile as he thought about the short time heâd lived there. âI never expected to end up there, but Iâve gone about most of me life just saying yes when an opportunity is there,â he shrugged. âWell,â Sam chuckled a bit. âA little gossip for you. Scotty and Savannah both were datinâ people who wanted to move down here. And they were pretty involved any all that, so I guess it just made sense,â he told her. âThen they ended up breakinâ things off with them and leavinâ. Pretty fucked if you ask me,â Sam said with a bitter chuckle. At the time he was so heartbroken for his friends, and he didnât know that the same fate was waiting for him. Though he knew that pain was a distant memory for Scott and Savannah now. Heâd actually never seen either of them happier. âNo,â he sighed. âI think I mentioned a little while ago about me father, aye? Scottâs father too and all,â Sam said awkwardly, scratching at the back of his neck. âHe was always a fuckinâ nightmare, honestly. He was never good to Maeve. After Tom was killedâehm,â Sam wanted to smack himself for the slip of his tongue. Surely her next question would be killed?! But he kept talking instead. âIt got worse. I knew he were cheating on her but I never had any real proof. And well. There was Scotty, real proof.â Sam sighed, and ran a hand over his face. Even though heâd already smoked he didnât feel stoned enough for this. âSo I went back to Ireland after weâd discovered it and kicked the bastard out for good. Told Maeve everything and finally she were able to do it. Fucking Catholics,â he said, huffing a humorless laugh. âIt werenât an easy time, to be honest,â Sam said. And he was still drinking then. Heâd almost gotten physical with James, spitting in his face; get the fuck out of here and never show your face in Donegal ever again! âIâm sorry. This is some fuckinâ bleak shit,â he said, rubbing at his face. Sam knew that none of it was easy to hear. It was bad enough relaying what happened to Savannah and Scott when heâd finally come to Hawaii. âI had to make sure mum was okay before I came back, and I didnât know how long that would be. She were obviously a fucking mess,â Sam said, and refrained from detailing how he was falling apart too. âSo I just sort of showed up one day after Maeve were settled and I knew Sav would have me back. Sheâs a good one, aye,â he said with an affectionate smile. âAnd if she didnât Iâm sure me brother would,â he chuckled. âThat fucker in the sky can so some good sometimes, aye?â he joked as he talked about finding Scott. He liked to pretend that Tom had brought them together from beyond the grave somehow, guided him onto that cruise ship. âAck, well, you know. Irishmen and Scots arenât so different in humor. Which Iâm sure you know now,â he said with a smile.
âYou should be sorry!â Isla replied, swatting playfully at Samâs chest when he rolled his eyes. âI will just have no choice but to raid your closet the next time I come over,â She smirked. âAnd what gave that away?â She asked, giggling when he pinched her nose. âCan we also speak into existence itâs a day that Iâm also around to witness?â She added with a grin. âSounds like a surefire way to make sure that theyâre fucking all the time. I like the way you think, Sammy,â She chuckled. âWhat are we gonna play for them?â She asked, smirking as she started to think about it. âWhat kind of mood are we trying to set for them?â She mused. âI think there are times where they think that theyâre angry at me,â Isla nodded, thinking about the last time she got screamed at by a particularly curt bride. âI usually just let them rage out and try to pick up on what they mention. Like, they may just be yelling at me because they canât yell at the seamstress or a bridesmaid or a chef, you know?â She asked. âAnd frankly, I had the worst insults that Iâll ever hear flung at me well before I ever came here, so anything they can say is a walk in the park,â Isla said with a chuckle. It was hard to forget some of the things that Andreaâs family had said about her, and to her face, no less. She could only imagine what they said about her in private. It was amazing to her that it never affected Andreaâs feelings toward her. âThatâs sweet of you to sayâdo you think you could accidentally say that in front of my morning client?â She laughed. âSheâs been harassing sweet Aurelia because the resort wonât charter a jet for her to bring her dress. Is that not the most ridiculous thing youâve ever heard?â She asked, shaking her head. âI donât know how many different ways she can say that we donât have a private jet before it sticks,â She smirked. âItâs easy to have a perfect marriage with a wife like Eleanor,â She grinned. âThatâs what Iâm saying!â Isla laughed, giving her bicep a pat. âNot when youâre teasing me about having hot, fresh-off-the-presses gossip,â Isla replied with a pout. âWith the amount of hits heâs given you, I canât believe your head isnât all dented,â She said, then started to examine his head for any dented spots. âThough they will try,â She shrugged. âHow much longer dâyou reckon itâll be before they finally learn?â She asked with a laugh. âSee? I knew you were a Candy Heart,â Isla grinned, pinching Samâs nose. It felt strange to picture Sam with a girlfriend, and when she did, it gave her a feeling that she didnât quite have a name for yet. âDid you meet her here? Or was she back home?â Isla asked before she could stop herself. Realizing that sheâd asked out loud and not in her head, she immediately shook her head. âYou donât have to answer that if you donât want to,â She offered. âIâm not saying that those canât be special and important too,â She argued. âItâs justâdifferent,â Isla shrugged. It was hard for her to explain what it was about romantic love that made her heart raceâeven when the love wasnât hers. She felt like she was still living off the high of Eleanor and Scott finally getting together. âYeah, Iâd say it looks like you figured that out just fine,â She chuckled, shaking her head as he wagged his eyebrows at her. âFrom what Iâve seen, it doesnât look like heâll have to try that hard, she seemed pretty into him last time I saw them,â She said with a smirk. âAnd donât you forget it,â She replied, tapping Samâs nose after each word.
âSo sheâs already got an in with the family?â Isla joked. âThat is really sweet. Walkinâ round the shop, pining over each otherââ She mused, smacking a hand to her heart and shaking her head. âItâs music to my ears, mate,â She laughed. âYou know Iâll gladly nominate you as an honorary member of girlâs night,â Isla promised. âItâs the rest of the girls that youâll have to win over,â She smirked. It felt impossibly good to have a circle of women in her immediate vicinity. She could hardly believe how lucky she was sometimes. âYou might even say weâreâbesties,â Isla replied with a chuckle. âYou canât go and expose me! Then Eleanor wonât tell me anything anymore!â She whined. âShe already thinks that I donât tell you all the goss that she tells me. Orâat least she pretends not to know,â She giggled. Any time she had some news, good bad or scandalousâSam was who she immediately thought to tell. âIt says that Iâm a good person who likes to do some charity work now and then,â She teased, flashing Sam a big, playful grin. She appreciates eyes not being directly on her, but she still thinks Iâm annoying,â She laughed. âThatâs so cute,â She whined. It was sweet to think of a younger Sam trotting after his brother, and to think of him having someone that he looked up to that much. It was how she felt about her own brother most days. âAs someone who is an older sibling, let me let you in on a secret,â Isla said, then leaned in closer as though they werenât the only two people on the porch. âEven when your sibling says that youâre annoyingâthey donât really mean it,â She said, then gave him a quick smile. It had always made her feel proud of who she was to see the things that Adeline would take from her. She was confident that Samâs brothers both felt that way about him, too. How could they not when heâd turned out to be the person she knew? âSo youâre saying that I can be even more annoying?â She asked, quirking an eyebrow. âInterestingâŚâ She muttered before letting out a laugh. âCatch up?â Isla asked, her eyebrows furrowing. âBestie, Iâm about to lap you,â She said with a shake of her head. âYouâre the one that needs to pick up the pace!â She added, laughing against his lips before kissing him back. âIf you want to commit to teaching me, then hell yeah! That sounds fun,â She grinned. Isla then hoped that her years of violin lessons would help her pick up the guitar more quickly. âArenât there laws against that in the States?â She asked. âIf I get arrested and they deport me, you guys would all miss me too much,â Isla explained. âSo really, I wear clothes for your sakes,â She laughed.Â
Isla nodded slowly, waiting patiently for Sam to give a little more, but when he didnât, she just assumed that he wasnât ready to. âFrom what I know about it, it seems like it. âDo you think you like it better there? Or here?â She asked, though she supposed the comparison was apples and oranges. This, as far as she could remember, was all of America that sheâd seen, and she knew that Hawaii was a lot different than the rest. âI get the feeling,â She laughed. Saying yes to scary things was what led her to yachting around the world, and ultimately it was what led her here. But fresh starts never scared her. âThat is so fucked, oh my god,â She said with a slow shake of her head. âI canât even imagine the sort of cunt that convinces their partner to leave behind what they knowâin a different country, no lessâand then just mug them off,â She scoffed. âThough, I have to imagine that both of them are better off now, right?â She shrugged. âRight, yeah, I remember you saying,â She nodded as Sam explained his relation to Scott. âIâI didnât know thatâs how you lost your brother. Iâm sorry,â She said softly, and thought she might actually be able to hear her heart shattering in her chest. As Sam started to tell the story about his return to Ireland, Isla gently reached for his hand, lacing her fingers through his. It wasnât much, but she hoped that it might give him even some small comfort. It amazed her that after everything Sam had been through, that he was still able to keep so much joy about him. She wasnât sure that sheâd have been able to do the same. âThat must have been so hard for you both,â She said with a quiet sigh. âPlease, donât apologize,â She replied, then gave Sam a small smile. âI appreciate that you feel like you can share this sort of stuff with me,â She said. âItâs good that you had each other to get through it. Iâm sure she was grateful to have her son there for that,â She replied with a small nod. âHow is your mom doing now?â She asked. âHow are you doing?â She added. âIâm sure Sav was just as happy to have you back as you were to be back,â She chuckled. âI think sheâs the nicest person Iâve ever met. Does she ever get even slightly upset?â She laughed. âI think Iâve met just enough of you now that I can can confidently agree. I always liked working with the Scots and Irish. They have almost as much fun as the Aussies,â She winked.

âTwo things which you know I already own,â he said with a toothy grin. âOh, dear Isla, you and I both know I could make a hazmat suit look sexy,â Sam joked, shooting her a little wink. âAye, go on then, Iâm sure theyâll believe you,â he teased with a little smirk. âParker breaks me poor heart on the daily, he could stand it just this once,â he laughed. âBesides, neither one of âem have ever had a problem with me ignorinâ them once they find out I was a little preoccupied,â Sam said, laughing again. Just as Sam would absolutely never hold it against either of them for ignoring him if they were having sex. âOi, donât go makinâ yourself upset over nothing. I just said itâs probably impossible for anyone to be angry with you anyway,â Sam assured her when he watched her frown. He would actually take personal issue with whatever miserable person could have the capacity to make Isla feel bad. âAye, you two just have a picture perfect marriage, donât you?â Sam joked. Though in his experience the only way a marriage could be perfect is if it were fake. âWell then if I were sworn to secrecy youâd never know, aye?â he teased. âAnd thatâs really 'cause I donât feel like havinâ Scotty take a swing at me if I told on 'im,â Sam chuckled, then laughed at Islaâs outburst. âShe were walkinâ down the hall and tried to make it seem like they werenât just fuckinâ each otherâs brains out minutes before while we were talkinâ. But I donât know what she expected, Iâm a bloodhound for shagging, and her hair looked like a lionâs mane anyway,â Sam recounted as he laughed. âSure itâs more intimate,â he agreed, furrowing his brow. âYou were almost engaged, werenât you? I bet youâd know a bit about that,â he said with a shrug. âAye, all of these things are possible,â Sam mused. âIsnât he? Thatâs how I fell for âim in the first place,â he said, mimicking like a tear had come to his eye. âDunno, reckon sheâs fair game if you let Parker join,â he joked with a little wink.Â
âIâm sure heâs used to it, his sister owns that metaphysical shop I were tellinâ you about. You should go with Sav next time she takes a trip. Thatâs how they met each other,â Sam said with a soft grin. âI love nothinâ more than all of me loved ones shiftinâ left right and fuckinâ center. Everyone is much more agreeable that way,â he chuckled. âAye, well she did hook up with me the one time so Iâd have to agree,â Sam joked with a laugh before he winced at the memory. As much as he loved Savannah to think that was how they met was so strange now. âIt is, I can assure you,â he muttered, then leaned in to give her a kiss, sliding his hand gently along her torso and hip before he pulled away with a little smirk and dropped back onto the pillows. Isla was just so easy to kiss. âIs that so?â he laughed. âIâm the baby and everyone in me family considers me to be pretty annoying,â he said. âAnd technically, Scotty is also a middle child. And he could be silent for days if no one spoke to âim first,â Sam joked. âI do like it. I like anyone that can grab the attention of an entire room without having to try. Gives me a little something to compete against,â he teased, giving her a little wink. âWhat?â he echoed back. âYeah, Scott and Savannah and I all lived in San Francisco for a bit after the ship. Then they both moved down here with a bunch of our mates,â he explained, then coughed a little. He didnât really know if he should air out the fact that theyâd most likely moved for Caleb and Julia, especially since they were such distant memories now. âIâm glad I came here too,â Sam said with a very sincere smile. He didnât know where heâd be if he didnât. Drunk under a bridge somewhere in Ireland, maybe. âOh, I knew I were leavinâ Ireland eventually after I sorted out what I needed to there,â Sam said, sitting up a little bit and taking another hit from the bong. âI did miss them,â he said, because that was true. âAnd since Scott and I had only just found out we were brothers I needed to come back and get as much time with him that I could,â Sam said with a gentle smile. âEspecially sinceâwell you know I told you our oldest brother Tom died. I wasnât about to lose another one,â he added, and let out a shaky sigh. It was so hard to contain himself talking about any of this. But in front of Isla, he didnât feel so embarrassed about it. He didnât feel embarrassed at all, really. Mostly safe, if not a bit guilty for ruining the mood with his shitty life.
âAnd yet this is how Iâm finding out about it,â She tutted. âYou know, if you hate me, then you could just say that,â Isla joked. âSlutty hazmat suit is not something I thought that Iâd be picturing today, but here we are,â She said, barking a laugh. âYou really do help me be creative, Sammy,â She joked. âThey will!â Isla argued, grinning at Sam. âThese love triangles, mate, theyâll get you,â She tutted, shaking her head. âAnd Iâm sure that most of that is because they know youâre extending the same courtesy to them,â She chuckled. âAlthough, I wouldnât really put it passed you to stand outside their window Say Anything-style whilst blasting The Lonely Island or something,â Isla smirked. She could practically see it all playing out in front of her, and could see the giant grin on Samâs face when he got the reaction that he wanted. âYou say that, and yet my phone still blows up the second a peony isnât the right shade of pink,â She chuckled. âSo I think a bride or two may be inclined to disagree,â She said, then shrugged gently. âBut, itâs hard to get upset about that. I know that those women are just under an immense amount of pressure to have a perfect day. So, if they need to get a little rage out, Iâd rather I be the target than some poor passerby,â She said with a smile. âWe really do, donât we?â Isla asked with a content sigh. âI canât wait until weâre common lawâd and Scotty has to joust me for her hand,â She laughed. âDâyou reckon I can take him?â She asked, flexing her bicep. âWell, now youâre just teasing me. Thatâs so mean of you Sammy,â Isla said with a pout. âYeah, I donât blame you for not wanting to be on the receiving end of that. I canât imagine it ends well,â She chuckled, shaking her head. âItâs like a sixth sense to just know when someoneâs been freshly fucked,â She agreed with a laugh. âOh god, I cannot wait to badger Eleanor for the details,â She said with a smirk. âYeah, sort of. Andrea didnât have an office, so it was just around the bridge and captainâs quarters and the like, and only at night or when we didnât have a charter,â She shrugged. âAnd we had our whole arrangement and all, but it really did feel nice to come home to someone after being gone for a while, you know what I mean?â She asked. She remembered the way it felt to get off of the plane and see Andrea waiting at the airport with his arms spread wide to catch her and the biggest smile on his face. It was hard not to miss the feeling of being so loved by someone. âAnd of course you can share things and experiences with a friend, but itâs not quite the same, is it?â She mused. âAh, the sting on unrequited love. Looks like that playboy might just snag another if he gets lucky,â She said with a shake of her head. âOh, bestie,â Isla cooed. âIf I did that, then Iâd break your heart by fucking the guy youâre in love with and break Parkerâs heart by stealing the girl heâs chasing after. And I just donât think I could have that weighing on my conscience,â She teased, pinching his cheek.Â
âOh, right! I remember the place,â Isla nodded. âI didnât realize thatâs where they metâare you kidding?â She asked, then slouched across Samâs torso. âThat is so fucking cute, I canât bear it,â She whined, punctuating it with a string of laughter. âI canât believe Iâm going to have to call for a girlsâ night so that I can get all the details from Savvy,â She said, peeking up at Sam with a grin. Now that she was properly situated here, it excited her to be able to do something as simple as calling the girls together for a little bit of drink and a gossip. âThatâs what Iâm saying! And who could blame us for just wanting to see our friends be happy?â She asked with a smirk. âYeah, but she was bound to take a misstep somewhere,â Isla teased, then let her jaw drop playfully as she tickled Samâs sides. âLucky you, huh?â She mumbled before kissing him. âWell, the youngest is supposed to be the ham. I just got lucky that Adeline would rather die than have more than two people look at her at once, so I was able to just kinda absorb that energy,â She laughed. âSure, but that silence annoys you,â Isla countered with a smirk. âAnnoying to one is not annoying to all, clearly,â She said with a gestured to herself. âWeâre really just pushing each other to be our loudest, funniest, selves arenât we?â She laughed. âOnce I learn how to play guitar, I think weâre really gonna be on equal footing,â She mused. âBecause I donât know that a violinâs just gonna show up at a ripper unless itâs at my flat, and I dunno what other tricks Iâve got aside from taking me top of,â She joked. âYou got quiet. I thought maybe you were thinking about something,â She shrugged. âWhat made you pick San Francisco?â Isla asked. âDid one of you just decide and the rest followed suit?â She continued. It always interested her what might call people someone to leave behind what they know. âThat mate mustâve made a hell of an argument to get the lot of you to agree to move here,â She said with a shake of her head. âGood, weâre lucky to have you here,â She smiled. âWhat was it, like, visa stuff?â She asked with a grimace. âIâve had friends have to deal with stuff like that before. Itâs such a pain in the ass,â She sympathized, nodding slowly. âAnd Iâm sure they were thrilled to see you. Did they know you were coming back? Or did you keep it a secret until you were able to come?â She asked. âOf course,â Isla nodded. âI mean, it was a miracle that you two found each other at all. I think that anyone in your situation would have done exactly what you did,â She said, then gave Sam a gentle smile. âThe way you two are together, youâd never know that you didnât grow up together. If it were the accents giving you away, Iâd never have known,â She offered, hoping it might feel like some sort of comfort. âItâs really sweet.â

Sam squinted at her and rubbed at his jaw. âToo cool?â he parroted, cocking an eyebrow. âI donât have time for their bullshit right now, I have a gorgeous woman naked in me bed,â he said with a hearty laugh before he grabbed his phone from the deck. It was a missed call from the girl he met earlier. He considered it forgotten as soon as he swiped the notification away. âIâve said it before and Iâll say it again, I donât reckon anyone could ever get angry with you, bug,â he said with a little chuckle. Isla was so sweet, so energetic and magnetic that the thought of someone being angry with her was actually laughable. âAye, Eleanor wonât even let me tease you!â he joked, shaking his head. It was so sweet to watch the two of them together. Even sweeter when they were all at the beach and they wore their slinkiest bikinis. âIf Eleanor is tying Scotty up do you really think heâd tell me? Iâd never fuckinâ shut up about it! You can ask your wife to find out though, I wouldnât be so surprised if she likes to be in control every once in a while,â he snickered. âNow that I can at least confirm. I ran into sweet Lenore lookinâ a mess cominâ out of his office just yesterday,â Sam said with a loud laugh. âAye, Iâd say so,â he agreed, and forced himself not to think about how nice it was to always have Ryan to come home to when he was with her. As much as he enjoyed playing the field, there was something to be said for a partner whoâd have you no matter what. âAye! Thatâs her. Lucy. Though sheâs givinâ me boy a hard time. Dunno why, âcause he shifted her the night of the last gig,â he chuckled. âAye, sheâs a fuckinâ ride,â Sam said with a little whistle. âMaybe sheâd be more willing to give you a go,â Sam joked.Â
Sam barked a laugh. âYou know Savannah would say yes in a heartbeat. But I donât know her lad well enough just yet to know if heâd be keen on it,â he said, then clapped his hands together in prayer. âBut he is a good lookinâ fuckinâ lad, so hereâs hopinâ,â he laughed. âI donât know if thereâs a sexier situation than a beautiful Aussie woman naked out here on me back porch,â he said, reaching out to take her chin in his hand. He gave her head a gentle wiggle then stamped a kiss to her lips. Sam was getting too comfortable, he knew, but he actually had no idea how to stop himself. Why should he deny himself the things that made him feel good? âStuck with you? I know you know thatâs not how I feel,â he assured her with a smirk. Sam felt lucky that Isla wanted to stick around after they had sex. Especially considering she was actually getting to know him. âYou donât make any sense. Youâre like, so confident and all that then you go callinâ yourself annoying. I donât find you annoying at all,â Sam said, furrowing his brows and huffing a little laugh. Nearly everything about Isla was picture perfect. He let out another loud, hearty laugh. âWonder if theyâre doinâ it on the terrace, or maybe on top of the washing machine?â Sam joked. âOh, well,â he began, then got quiet for a minute and took the bong back to take another big hit. âShe actually lived here for a month or so before I moved to Hawaii. We were livinâ in San Francisco together, then I had to go back to Ireland for a bit. I didnât know if I were even gonna make it back to America,â he said, and couldnât believe the words were leaving his mouth. He didnât know if he wanted Isla to know about all of the things heâd buried within his loud, jovial personality. He worried that sheâd pity him, look at him differently, and that frankly scared the hell out of him. But for some reason he spoke anyway.Â
âNext thing I know, Iâm only gonna see you in wayfarers and a tasseled leather jacket,â Isla said, then paused. âOn second thought, I think thatâd actually be quite sexy,â She laughed. âOh, I am so telling them you like me more than them,â Isla teased. âThink of how youâre breaking your poor boyfriendâs heart,â She added with a laugh. âAnd since both of them know what thatâs like, Iâm sure theyâll understand once you explain yourself,â She smirked. âI really hope not. I get sad just thinking about it,â She said with a small frown. If she even suspected that someone was upset with her, she had to confront it right away for the sake of her own sanity. Sheâd never shied away from confrontation, especially if it meant solving a problem as soon as it started. âOf course she wonât, because sheâs the loveliest and most wonderful wife in the world,â She grinned. âI donât know! You couldâve been sworn to secrecy. And brother secrecy supersedes besties secrecy, so I couldnât really blame you for it,â Isla shrugged. âAnd you know if Eleanor even so much as hints at it that Iâm going to have to get every single dirty little detail!â She exclaimed. Her mouth fell open and she gasped dramatically at what Sam told her about Scott and Eleanor. âThose little sluts!â She exclaimed with a giggle. âBut, I mean, whatâs the point of having your own office if not to root in it?â She laughed. âThough, I guess you could argue that you could do it with a stranger, too. Itâs just lessâI dunnoâpersonal? Intimate? Whatever,â Isla shrugged. âMaybe sheâs just a one-and-done kinda girl. Or maybe she just wants to get a feel for what else is out there, since she just got here and all,â She explained. âOr maybe sheâs afraid sheâs gonna get a crush on Parker. Your boyfriend is quite the charmer,â Isla teased with a laugh. âOh, had Parker not already gotten dibs, Iâd be all over her,â She laughed.Â
âHeâs bound to have a touch of a wild side if heâs into a little hippie like her,â Isla said with a grin. âWhich works in my favor,â She laughed. âHopefully Savâs too,â She added with a devilish grin. âItâs so nice to see your mates all getting laid, isnât it?â She laughed. âI wouldnât suspect that a girl that looks like her has a hard time hooking up with the fittest of the fit,â She smirked. âHmm,â Isla thought, smirking at Sam. âThat does sound like an especially sexy place to be,â She agreed with a nod. Isla giggled quietly when Sam wiggled her head and happily leaned in to kiss him. If she started to think about her set up with Sam for too long, she realized just how dangerously close to the fire that she was playing. But thatâs exactly why she wouldnât allow herself to think about it more than just in passing. Sam was a friend, perhaps even a best friend. And that was that, and that was all she wanted. Right? âI know, I know, Iâm just joking,â She assured him with a smile. âThatâs because Iâm a middle child. Weâre just genetically built to be more annoying than the average person,â She laughed. âYou just happen to like that Iâm obnoxious,â She joked, giving Samâs nose a little pinch. It felt good to be spending all of this time with Sam and not feel him getting exhausted by her. She was well aware that her high-energy was not always enjoyed. âI hope itâs an and and not an or,â Isla replied with a laugh. âWhat?â She asked with a smile once Sam got quiet. Isla nodded as Sam told his story. âI always forget that you didnât come directly here after you all were on the cruise ship,â She said. âIâm glad you came here,â She added with a smile. âWhat made you ultimately decide to come back?â She asked. âDid you just miss everyone here too much?â

Sam raked his eyes along Islaâs body again and brought them back up to her face with a smirk. âYeah, the view is pretty spectacular,â he said, making it evident that he definitely wasnât referring to the picturesque beach behind them. âI donât really give a shit who it is,â he chuckled, shaking his head. Even if it were Parker or Scott instead of the woman heâd met earlier, he knew that both of them would simply understand that he was tied up with Isla in his bed. If any of his friends were getting laid the last thing he would do was try to interrupt it. He gathered that Scott caught on to that however, but he was more than happy to leave him alone now that he knew his brother was busy with Eleanor. âThough Iâd never throw you under the bus to those two gaffers,â Sam added with a little smirk. âBesides, Scottyâs probably tied upâgod willingâand from what Parkerâs told me he seems to be pretty busy these days too,â he said, raising his eyebrows. When he was with Isla he felt it nearly impossible not to gossip. Something about her made him want to tell her everything. Not everythingâhe tried to remind himself. Everything would mean telling Isla things that would probably make her run away, and he wouldnât blame her for it.Â
âAw come on now, I gotta take care of you after you took care of me, aye?â he joked with a little smirk. âSheâs out with the Lone Ranger,â Sam chuckled. He made a mental note to double check that she was in fact going to be coming home that night. Sam gave his bare bum a little wiggle when she whistled and shot a wink back towards her before he made his way inside to grab water and some snacks. He stacked a few pillows to recline against and looked at her, cocking an eyebrow. âThis was me sexy date,â Sam laughed. Even if he were being perfectly serious. Lately he didnât find himself as interested in as many different people. Sam needed a moment to look himself in the mirror and figure out what exactly he thought he was doing. Not now, though of course. When he was with Isla he didnât want to feel bad. Feeling back actually seemed impossible around her. âI want ya to stay if ya donât have anything going on. Of course if your wife wonât miss you,â he teased with a little wink, taking a long swig from his water bottle. Sam reached out for the bong with an already packed bowl sitting on the iron garden table beside the swinging bed and took a few hits before passing it off to Isla.Â
âTell me about it,â Isla said, then cupped her chest playfully. Despite the surroundings, she found herself unable to look anywhere but Sam. It was hard not to look at him when he looked like that, especially with his hair tousled and messy. âOi, heâs too cool all of a sudden?â She teased, grinning at Sam. âAs if either of them could ever get mad at me,â She replied, putting her hands under her chin and batting her eyes. âScotty especially. Eleanor would yell at him,â She laughed. âYou think Eleanorâs tying him up?â Isla asked, leaning her head to the side in amused thought. âI canât imagine why they wouldnât be fucking at every opportunity. And making opportunities for it whenever else,â She said. âIsnât that one of the best parts about having a partner?â She laughed. âIâm amazed theyâre even making it to work on time,â She joked. âGood lad!â She gasped at Samâs gossip about Parker. âTell me itâs the new brunette that works the bar,â Isla said, then patted Samâs chest. âI really hope that it is, I like her. And crikey, sheâs gorgeous, isnât she?â She grinned.Â
âIt is only fair,â Isla agreed with a smirk. âNow thatâs a pair Iâd love to get in the middle of,â She laughed. âDâyou reckon theyâd allow visitors? Iâd be honored just to watch,â She asked, flashing Sam a grin. She laughed when Sam wiggled in front of her, then dropped back against the pillows. She sighed contently, making herself comfortable among the sheets before Sam came back. âWell, this is quite sexy, so you could definitely do worse,â Isla teased. There was a reason that Sam had easily slid to the top of Islaâs list of people to call when she was bored or looking for something fun. There were probably a plethora of reasons as to why Sam had remained unchallenged in his spot, but Isla didnât even entertain the thought. He was just a bestie, like Eleanor or Scott. âI didnât have any plans for the day, so now youâre stuck with me,â Isla grinned. âFamous last words,â She added with a laugh. âMy wife is probably getting railed right now. So as much as it pains me to say itâsheâs definitely not missing me,â Isla laughed. She took the bong once Sam handed it to her and took a few hits. âDid you and Savvy live somewhere else on the island before this place? Or did you just get insanely lucky on the first go?â

Sam dropped on his back beside Isla, the swinging porch bed rocked gently, coming to a slow, tiny rhythm as they lied beside one another and caught their breaths. Dusk was starting to fall over the horizon over the sea, and Sam pulled Isla half on top of him to give her another kiss. âFucking grand as usual,â he muttered against her mouth with a little chuckle, closing his eyes as he dropped his head back onto the beaten-up pillow beneath him. His phone, sitting beneath the hanging bed buzzed loudly against the wooden planks of his back porch, but he ignored it. He guessed it was probably the girl heâd met at the resort earlier that day who heâd given his number to and asked her to call if she wanted to hang out with him that night. After Isla asked him, though, he knew that there wasnât a chance he would be passing up a sure thing with her. A comfortable thing. It was nice getting to know her, truly. Especially now that Scott and Eleanor were together and he was around Isla more often than not. She was funny and vibrant and obviously just as good as him in bed. Being around her made him forget how little he liked himself. When Isla was so effortlessly confident it was easier to remind himself that he could be like that too. He just wished he didnât feel like such a liar sometimes. But what was the alternative? Telling Isla, who was so jovial and full of light, all of the tons of baggage he carried around with him inside his head? Sam couldnât think of something worse to burden a woman with. Especially one he was having excellent, effortless sex with. Even if he found her so easy to talk to he could hardly believe it sometimes.Â
âDâyou want some water?â Sam offered with a lazy smile. ââM gonna go turn the light on inside for Sav when she gets home and Iâll be right back out,â he said, reluctantly rolling off of the bed and stretching a bit before he sauntered inside, giving her a little smirk before he did. Floyd lied fast asleep on the couch, and he clicked on a lamp in their living room then poured two glasses of water and grabbed a bag of chips and a bowl of cut up watermelon from the fridge before meeting Isla back outside on the porch bed. He paused for just a second and admired her, sitting in the rumpled blankets, her blonde head of hair messy from his hands in it, her figure backdropped by the setting sun and ocean. Jesus. He settled back in and offered her and popped a piece of watermelon in his mouth. âYou going back to your flat tonight?â he asked. Most of him hoped she said no.Â
Isla let out a breathless chuckle once Sam hit the mattress next to her, then ran a hand through her hair as she composed herself. âAnd Iâd say only twenty-five percent of that is because of the view,â Isla laughed, then draped a lazy arm across Samâs chest as she laid back down. âIf thatâs your boyfriend or your brother calling because you were supposed to be somewhere, you can totally blame me when you ring them back,â She joked, then gave a lazy giggle. She never minded being the one to blame for something like that. And in her mind, it was easy to forgive your friend for being late somewhere if they were off having really good sex. Which her and Sam did. Often. Having such a good and surefire thing with Sam made it easy for Isla to put him at the top of the list of people that sheâd ring when she wanted to have a little fun. It helped that she also just liked hanging out with him, as evidenced by how much time she spent with him fully dressed. She was just as happy for that, since Sam was so funny and so effortlessly charming. Isla found it funny to see herself become so close to the stranger sheâd hooked up with in the pool on her first night in America.Â
âIf youâre getting up anyway, then yes,â Isla said, grinning back at Sam. âAnd if Sav is inside, tell her to pop out and say hi!â She called to Sam once he got up. She did a wolf whistle as she watched Sam walk away, and then chuckled to herself. After a quick stretch, Isla finally sat up, pulling the sheets up against her chest, then she took a look at the view from the bed. It felt like being at home to watch the sun dip under the clouds like this, and it amazed her that anyone could choose to live where they couldnât see it. She had a brief thought about grabbing her phone and snapping a picture of it to send to her siblings or to her friends back home, but her phone had gotten lost somewhere between the sheets and the ground, and she wasnât sure that she was quite ready to search for it. Some things were better to just be in the moment for, anyway. She let out a content sigh before attempting to shake some of the craziness out of her hair. She knew that it would leave it mostly unkempt, but she didnât mind all that much. âWhen youâre giving me world-class service like this, I donât know if I want to,â Isla teased before grabbing a piece of watermelon. âBut if youâve got a sexy date that youâve got to get ready for, then I can get out of your hair now, of course,â She laughed.

âDidnât know I was takinâ a test here, lass,â Sam teased. âOf course I wouldnât mind teachinâ you how to play. Especially if your poker face is as bad as you say it is,â he smirked, then raked his eyes over her. âDonât reckon youâll need much help with the strip part of it though, aye? Youâre an expert there,â he added with a breathy laugh. âObviously youâre the type of girl who loves flattery,â Sam teased, âAnd Iâm more than happy to oblige, love,â he added with a wink. âI want you to say whatever you want. Actions speak louder than words anyway, and since you seem to be pretty eager to see me, that says enough right there,â Sam pointed out with a chuckle. He still liked to watch Isla try to tease him, though. Even if he was extremely confident that Isla would keep coming back for more with how well their last few encounters went. âOh, sure. I think Sunny has a bit too much energy for Floyd, but sheâs just a puppy. Sheâs got too much energy for everyone,â Sam said with an affectionate smile. âAye, Zelda is a sweet cat. She likes to snuggle,â he nodded. âThey spend enough time alone together youâd think it wouldâve happened by now, but alas, here we are,â Sam sighed, shaking his head. When Isla laughed, Sam couldnât help but laugh with herâit was impossible not to. âSweetheart, look,â he said as his laughter subsided, âif itâll make ya happy to stick a spider on me head while Iâm sleepinâ go for it. How âbout we save the bug talk for another time though, aye?â he said with a shake of his head. âI canât imagine Iâll be getting on your bad side any time soon,â he said with a smirk. Sam intended to not let anyone ever get close enough to him again who could see his bad side. Isla seemed to be a relatively happy and well adjusted personâhe wouldnât risk damaging that. Even if he did like talking to her almost as much as he liked having sex with her. âHe got exactly what were cominâ to him. He didnât even swing back,â Sam said with a scoff, then shook his head. He didnât really want to get into how aggressive he could beâhe knew it was off-putting. And heâd been much calmer since he stopped drinking, anyway. âAnd itâs easy to like a gorgeous woman like yourself,â he replied with a smile. âIâm more than sure youâve got plenty of people wrapped around your finger,â he teased. âGlad, among other things,â Sam said with a mischievous grin.
âIâm always having fun when Iâm getting me dick out,â he said with a laugh when he noticed her smirk. If Sam could guarantee getting laid after a shift at work without having to lift a finger, he would be stupid not to take advantage of that. And he knew his brother would understand and take that into account when he made the schedule. âI think itâs in your best interest to make sure the party runs itself so youâve got free time. Or you know, you could still use a little break if youâre stressed. I could definitely help out with that,â he said with a cheeky smile. âWhatâs the point in playing dumb when you already know whatâd make me happy, girl,â he teased with a low voice, raking his eyes over her face before letting a short laugh out through his nose. Sam nodded and looked away from a brief moment when she commented about what heâd said about Tom. It was beautiful, he supposed. With all of their faults. It was why it was still so hard to let him go after all of this time. âOh trust me lass, itâs exactly how I feel,â he chuckled. Samâs relationship with his family was so painfully complicated. He hardly wanted to talk about it with Savannah and Scott, let alone a girl he was having casual fun with. âIâd actually really like to see a tiger beat box,â he said with a whistle and a laugh.Â
Sam put his hands up in the air. âKnickers or no knickers involved, you wonât have them on for too long around me anyhow, will ya?â he said with a smirk. âIâm not giving you a look,â he said, though he did feel a little caught. âRight, of course. I just think itâs interesting that youâre not the type of girl who wants a fella if youâre so interested in it all,â he said with a shrug. He was genuinely curious. After Ryan he thought he kind of reviled the idea of romance all together. For himself at least. Even if he knew writing the song for Scott and Eleanor was a glaringly obvious tell that he still believed in love on some level. âI donât have a booty call list!â Sam laughed. âI just put everyone in a group chat to save time,â he joked with a hearty laugh. âHowâre you to be me wingwoman when youâre the girl Iâm trying to get in bed?â he asked, laughing again. Though he didnât mind the idea of Isla talking about him to other people, since he was more than sure sheâd been enjoying sleeping with him. âOh, yeah, Iâm sure Eleanor will be talkinâ about your fanny to everyone she meets,â he teased, shaking his head. âYou can put me down as a reference if it really means that much to ya,â he joked, than barked another laugh. âWhoâs wet dream did you bust out of, girl?â he asked as he calmed down.Â
Sam scoffed in mock-affront. "Aye, just the little witch,â he said with a playful eye roll. âWhat kinda perks?â Sam asked, smirking and looking down at himself before back up at Isla with a toothy grin. âI know youâre only teasing anyway, since you just keep cominâ back for more,â he said in a low voice, then he barked a laugh. âI grew up fishing and sailing with me father. I donât need handcuffs when I know how to tie a knot,â he said with a wink. âThose stuffy neckties I have to wear for work are a little softer on the wrists. The skinâs sensitive there,â Sam added with a less than innocent shrug. He let out a quiet sigh when Isla agreed with him. All Sam knew how to do was run, really. In every sense of the word. He still felt like he was, even halfway across the world from Ireland and every skeleton heâd left there. Shaking his head and laughing as Isla went on about her spiders, Sam grabbed her cheeks between his hands and planted a big kiss to her mouth to cut her off. âHardly think you want to scare a poor fella whoâs about to make you come?â He kissed her again and moved his hands downward on her body. âThatâs what I thought, girl,â he chuckled. He liked how confident Isla was. He couldnât help himself, always drawn to women who heâd consider a match. And Isla so effortlessly bounced everything he said right back to him. âGod, I think I missed when they talked about that treasure in the Pirates of the Caribbean film,â he laughed at her joke about the map. âRight, so right now weâre going for gold,â Sam replied, stamping another kiss to her lips. He smirked against the skin of her neck when he heard her make a noise and rolled her hips against his hand. Sam pulled his head back to look at her with her head relaxed against the couch while he worked his fingers over and he dipped back down to Islaâs neck, kissing along the side of it to her ear. âDonât have much to tease me about right now, do you birdie?â he muttered.Â
âYouâre not!â Isla laughed. âItâs not like I wouldâve walked out the door if youâd said something else,â She replied, sharking her head. âThatâd be psychotic behavior,â She snorted. âAnd so what if it is? Then you get to see me naked much quicker, and I think thatâs luckier than winning the pot, no?â She smirked. âIâm the Stephen Hawking of taking my clothes off, mate,â Isla joked, giving Sam a wink. âI meanââ She began as she gestured to herself. âAnd Iâm happy to hear them at any and all times,â Isla laughed. âAnd I never shut the fuck up as is, so now that the doorâs been openâwelcome to Hell, mate,â Isla teased, flashing Sam a grin. âOf course Iâm eager to see you. Are we not friends?â She asked with a confused chuckle. âOh, but sheâs so sweet!â Isla cooed when Sam talked about Sunny. âShe reminds me a lot of one of the dogs we had growing up. Iâve already offered to babysit Sunny if Scott goes away. I assumed Eleanor would be going with him, anyway,â She giggled. âI know, I love when Zelly comes and hops up on my bed for a cuddle. I was very relieved that she warmed up to me being in her home so quickly,â Isla smiled. âI just canât believe that neither of them has ever accidentally slip. I donât think Iâve got that kind of willpower,â She shrugged. âAw, what?â She asked with a pout. âAre you getting scared?â She teased, then grinned at Sam. âYâknow now that youâve given me permission that Iâm totally gonna do that now, right?â She giggled. âBut not when youâre sleeping, because anything could scare anyone if theyâre just coming out of sleep. Thatâs way less fun,â She shrugged. âIâm gonna let you in on a little secret,â Isla said, leaning in closer to Sam. âI donât really have a bad side. I donât think Iâve ever held a grudge for longer than a few seconds,â She chuckled. Isla just never saw the point in holding on to anger, it had never done her any good. And it didnât feel fair to hold someoneâs mistake over their head. âSo he knew that heâd done something bad then? Maybe he thought it could be, like, a penance or something,â Isla shrugged. She had to stop herself from thinking about Sam fighting, because it put her body at war with itself for finding it both so sexy and so stupid. âAnd thatâs just how I like them,â Isla grinned, shrugging her shoulders. âYeah,â She giggled. âAmong other things.â
Isla barked a laugh and nodded. âYeah, Iâm always having fun then too,â She agreed with another chuckle. Isla was silently relieved to know that there would be at least one person at the next few parties to hang out with during the slow parts of the party. And if that person could be the same person that she hooked up with after the last partygoer stumbled out, then it would be even better. She really couldnât believe her impossible luck since her arrival. âI could do that,â Isla mused. âOrâand this is the better option, I thinkâyou could pawn off the real work onto the other security guards so that youâve got free time,â She countered with a grin. âLike Iâve said, youâre welcome to come visit me in my office at time. For whatever reason,â She offered. âIâm just fishing to see if thereâs anything else that I havenât discovered yet. Like a secret sweet tooth or a very particular fetish,â She giggled. Isla gave Sam a brief smile when he mentally stepped away. âAlright,â Isla shrugged. âIf you say so,â She added, then gave Sam another smile. âTigersâ growls sound pretty deep, so I imagine itâd have one of those low, booming bases, yâknow what I mean? The kind that feels like itâs rattling your bones.â
âI think so far, the record is about an hour,â Isla laughed. âOr maybe even less,â She added, smirking back at him. Isla had a horrible condition that caused her clothes to slip right off at the sight of someone she found attractive. And for a girl like her, it was amazing that her clothes managed to stay on at all. âI thought we were saying what we meant from now on?â Isla asked, raising a challenging eyebrow. âWell,â Isla began as she thought about how best to explain herself. âItâs like this: I do, obviously, feel a certain pull towards big, romantic things. But I get my fill of it every day at work. Itâs all I do for eight-plus hours a day, yâknow?â She asked. âSo I donât feel any particular need to go out and find it in a relationship. And I get to have sex with whoever catches my attention, which is a pretty nice perk to keeping things breezy,â She shrugged. Isla didnât want to get into the complicated nature of her and Andreaâs relationship, because explaining the details of a semi-open relationship was often hard to do with people who have never experienced it. And itâs not like that detail was really necessary for Sam to know now. Or maybe ever, really. âYou are so full of shit you donât have a list!â Isla exclaimed, scoffing a laugh. âIâve got a list forming and Iâve barely settled in!â She shook her head. âI might steal that group chat bit. See who answers first. And if two answer at onceââ She trailed off with a devilish grin. âIf Iâm the girl youâre trying it on with, wouldnât that make me the best wingwoman. Since Iâm selling you to me?â She laughed. âOf course she will, because Eleanor is a good friend,â Isla teased, giving Sam a playful side-eye. âAs if Iâd ever need to sell myself to someone that hard that they need to call someone,â She laughed. âThatâs the nicest thing that anyone has ever said to me,â Isla replied as she wiped a fake tear from her eye.
âSheâs a sexy little fairy, Iâd be an idiot not to want to hang out with her more,â Isla argued with a laugh. âShe does have a roommate though, so I suppose heâll just have to third-wheel when heâs home,â She shrugged. âAn orgasm, for starters,â Isla said with a snort. âAnd you keep inviting me back for more, so it appears that weâre in the same boat, mate,â Isla replied with a low chuckle. âWell,â Isla said as she presented her wrists to Sam. âYou wanna just talk about it? Or you wanna be about it?â She asked, quirking an eyebrow. Isla giggled against his lips when he kissed her. âAnd what if I did want to scare him, then what?â She asked, smirking at him before leaning up to meet his lips. âIâve done it plenty, I know how fun it is,â She joked. There were a few places that Isla really let her ego take off, and in this particular spot, she let it rocket off to another dimension. âWho could blame you when Jack, Will, and Elizabeth are on the screen?â She shrugged, then let out a laugh. âExactly right,â She laughed before he kissed her again. âIâm sure Iâll come up with something,â She mumbled back with a breathy chuckle.

Samâs jaw fell open. âNot at all, love. I donât spend time with people I donât enjoy,â he assured her, giving her a little wink. âDonât worry, I have,â he assured her. If Sam didnât have his intuition, he would have surely ended up dead by now. His intuition and agility, he would have to add for all of the times heâd just barely avoided catching one too many fists. âSo youâre saying we should play a little poker then?â Sam joked when Isla talked about being unable to hide her expressions. He liked people who could wear their heart so openly on their sleeves. It reminded him that it wasnât so dangerous to live that way. âI think planning weddings would be a little worse than just boring for someone who didnât really like it,â he chuckled. Sam couldnât think of a job heâd be more ill-suited for. Well, he definitely could. Heâd be ill-suited for a lot of things. Most, heâd argue. Sam laughed along with her when he said her name, especially when his first instinct was to still call her Juliet. âIsla, love, have you looked at yourself? Of course I liked you when I saw you,â he said, raking his eyes over her before looking back up at her face with a smirk. âYouâre right, you didnât have to say it, I know,â Sam assured her with a cocky grin. âI know all about girl talk. Me roommate and best mate is a girl!â Sam defended with a chuckle. âAye, Iâm a lucky lad to have all these pups around,â he said with a genuine smile. Heâd always wanted a dog growing up. âYour hopes? Our hopes, love,â Sam corrected, shooting her a wink and clicking his tongue. âYou can imagine how painful itâs been for so long now,â he groaned. Samâs mouth fell open and he held his hands up as Isla rattled on about his aversion to snakes and bugs. âYouâve got a lot of questions lass. Whatâre you gonna wrangle up a special delivery of bugs and snakes and shit for me?â he said, barking a laugh. âSure is, girl,â Sam agreed, and thought he shouldnât elaborate further. He hardly wanted to face anything darker with himself, let alone a girl he was sleeping with. âHe was a little prick,â Sam grimaced when he thought of Sebastian. âBut as yaâve met Sav, you can see why anyone who mistreats her is a king prick,â he sighed. âI bet youâre very convincing when you want to be,â Sam said, cocking an eyebrow at her and flashing her a grin. âThatâs grand, Isla,â he said with a genuine smile as she talked about her experience in university. Sam hadnât ever dreamed of going to university. He was barely cut out to finish secondary school. He almost wanted to laugh though, learning that Isla was a photographer too, just like Ryan. Heâd be withholding the detail from Scott for as long as he could, surely. âAye, youâre here,â Sam agreed with a little chuckle. âAnd Iâm glad you are, love,â he added with a smirk.Â
âAnyone whoâs organized in any sort of fashion is impressive to me,â Sam said with a shrug. He wouldnât even know how to be organized if he tried. Maybe he had a chance at one time, but he felt that heâd drank that potential away. Much potential, really. âIâve already let the lad know itâll be of personal interest to me to work your weddings,â he said with a cheeky smile, shooting her a wink. âI can think of something else that might put you back in your good graces with me, aye?â Sam said, wagging his eyebrows at Isla before letting out a laugh. âEveryoneâs got their thing,â Sam agreed with a gentle nod. He knew that by its most common meaning, Sam wasnât necessarily very intelligent. But he could play a song back on the piano after only hearing it one time and he knew how to throw an excellent punch. That had to be of some kind of merit. âAye, wouldnât be who I am without the lad,â Sam said of Tom, then left it at there. Because if he went on any longer about his brother heâd shoot the rest of his day to hell. âThe misery is the dealing with me family bit,â he elaborated with a chuckle. âThen I hope you get to see them soon,â Sam said with an earnest smile. He wondered what it was like to feel like that about your family.Â
âMusic to me ears, girl,â Sam said with an overly dramatic sigh. âWell nowâletâs not get too hasty thereâwhat do they look like?â he asked, raising his brows when she talked about her underwear before letting out a hearty laugh. âSure,â Sam said, squinting his eyes at her before huffing a short laugh and crossing his arms over his chest. He didnât really know what she was after talking about romance when Sam had been making his very clear that he wasnât interested in that sort of thing, but he wasnât trying to be mean. Especially because he wanted to keep sleeping with her. âAlright,â Sam said with a grin curling up on his lips. He took her hand in his and pressed a kiss to the back of it, then to the inside of her wrist before looking up at her face with light eyes. âYouâre very, very sexy,â he said, smirking as he gave her back her hand. âSorry lass, I donât kiss and tell. I let other people do that for me,â Sam explained with a less than guilty grin. âMaybe you should get your one Eleanor to start playing wingwoman,â he suggested with a laugh. Sam shook his head and clicked his tongue when she called him a tough guy. âThatâs what I thought, all talk,â he teased.Â
âAye, whoâd turn down such a generous offer,â Sam said with a smirk, taking a moment to rake his eyes over her face. He was curious to see just how long sheâd be this enthusiastic forâif sheâd turn over a stone of Samâs personality and run away. It didnât bother him so much, because he was always ready to move on to the next thing when he had to. He barked a laugh when Isla talked about her handcuffs. âDonât have any of me own on hand, no,â Sam said as his laughter subsided. As if heâd be able to find anything in his disastrous room anyway. âIâm a fast runner,â he said with a shrug. Sam narrowly avoided getting into serious trouble far too many times. The list of things that should have killed him by now is so long. And he knew he probably would remember half of it. âRight, Iâll be waiting,â Sam played along with her threat, giving her another little wink. âIâve planned that Iâm going to fuck you in the morning, and later tonight, yeah,â Sam assured her with a cocky chuckle, humming softly as she ran her hand through his hair. âIs there a problem with that?â he asked. âGonna swipe a map of the resort at work tomorrow and weâll start marking off spots weâve shagged,â Sam suggested, laughing against her skin as he kissed it. âDunno about any record, but if you want to go at it like weâre trying to break one I wonât be stopping you,â he said, leaning in to give her a kiss. âThese are a little easier though,â Sam laughed against her lips as he hovered over her on the couch, brining his fingers to hook around her swimsuit bottoms, pulling them down her thighs. He moved a hand in between her legs and his lips to her neck, feeling his mind turn off in that blissful way it always did when he was on top of someone.Â
âGood answer!â Isla replied with a laugh. âIâd have been more surprised if that wasnât your answer,â She smirked. âIâm only playing if itâs strip poker and you donât mind teaching me how to play. Maybe Iâll have a little beginnerâs luck,â She said with a shrug. âAnd if not, then you get to see me naked. Sounds like winning all-around,â She laughed. âItâs a lot of time and lot of effort and love and if itâs something that your heart just isnât in then I imagine itâs pretty torturous,â She agreed. âThatâs what Iâve been trying to explain to Aurelia, I want her to love the work, not just working together,â She nodded. âYouâre welcome to keep laying the compliments on me any time,â Isla said as she dramatically tossed her hair over her shoulder. âBut I donât have to say it to you anymore if you donât want me to,â She shrugged, then flashed Sam a challenging smirk. âSo then I shouldnât have to explain how vital it is!â She laughed. âYeah, Iâll say!â She grinned. âDo they get on well?â She asked. âI was quite excited to move in with Eleanor because the flat came with a bestie and a cat,â She laughed. âIf weâre both hoping for it, then maybe we can get fate in our favor,â She said, crossing her fingers. âIâm suffering and Iâve only been here a couple of weeks. I think if Iâd been here as long as you have, Iâd have locked the pair of them in a room and not let them out until theyâve gotten together,â She joked. Samâs reaction to her questions made her almost double-over with laughter. âOh mate,â She said as she caught her breath. âIf thatâs your reaction to the mere idea, then maybe!â She said before a few more giggles escaped. âBest for you to say on my good side then, huh?â She teased. âAnd I assume youâve already found it, yeah? So youâll tell me when Iâm headed down the wrong way?â She chuckled. âI donât know how you could meet that girl and do anything but fall in love with her,â She shrugged. âI mean, the welcome at the door aloneââ She joked with a shake of her head. âIâm sure he got what was coming to him,â She added. âI am,â Isla confidently replied. She didnât often have to worry about not getting her way when she went out of her way to charm people. âItâs a lot easier to get people to do what you want them to when they already like you,â She added with a laugh. âMy best mate from home didnât go to uni, but she moved to the same city so we got to live together. That was more fun than anything that happened at uni,â She grinned. âIâm glad to be here too,â She smiled. âAnd I think both of us will be even more glad that Iâm here very soon,â She chuckled.
âItâs a learned skill, trust me,â Isla said with a breathy chuckle. âI didnât really get organized until I was living on the yachts. When your bedroomâs the size of a linen closet, youâve got no choice but to get it together,â She joked. She didnât think much of the lack of space until she started moving into the captainâs quarters with Andrea. Her first Asian charter after had been tough. âSee? I knew you were having fun,â She said with a satisfied smirk. âIâll be sure to plan ripper after ripper so youâre nice and busy the whole time,â She winked. She was happy to know that sheâd have a friend to hang out with during the parties. She was even happier to know that she might have a reason to sneak away for a little bit. âWell?â She asked, quirking an eyebrow. âAre you going to share it or are we about to play a guessing game?â She teased. âYeah, exactly! And no one is better than the other. Theyâre just different,â She shrugged. That was the mantra that kept her from comparing herself to her genius siblings. Now, she could just be proud of the insane things that they were accomplishing. âWhat a beautiful thing,â She said with a smile. She sensed that Sam didnât want to talk about it, and she didnât want to push it. âSomehow, I donât believe thatâs how you really feel,â She replied with a smirk. âI think itâd be easier to teach a tiger to beatbox than it is to get all the Bennetts in the same time zone, let alone the same exact place,â She laughed. âItâll happen eventually,â She added with a shrug. Â
âYeah, Iâm sure that it is,â Isla said, laughing at Samâs expression. âYou just decided that you donât want to know. Are you backtracking on me now?â She asked, starting to smirk. âHow will I ever know whether or not to wear knickers under my dress?â She asked with a dramatic pout. âDonât give me that look,â Isla said, shaking her head and laughing. âI really meant what I said before. Iâm not here to be your girlfriend,â She assured him again. âI donât even need to be the first person on your booty call list,â She added with a chuckle. After ending things with Andrea, the very last thing that she wanted was to be wrapped up in another grand romantic drama. Especially with her coworker. Sheâd already learned her lesson with that big time. She smirked at Sam as he kissed her hand and her wrist. âIâm aware,â She replied with a grin. Fine,â Isla shrugged. âThen I am your wingwoman no longer,â She said with a playful tut. âI wonât have time when Iâm so busy building my reputation bird by bird,â She winked. âIâm happy to know that at least one person will be out there preaching the good word,â She said with a gesture to her hips. âI mean, if you want to wrestle thatâs fine. But I only wrestle Spartan-style. Naked with a little lubrication,â She joked.
âIâd have to be an idiot to turn down free weed and a chance to hang out with Savannah some more,â Isla teased as a wide grin spread across her face. âAnd I guess hanging out with you again has some perks,â She laughed. âAw, you donât?â She asked with a small pout. âMaybe youâre a little more tame than I pegged you out to be. A pity,â She said with a snicker. âYou must be if you havenât gotten caught yet,â She agreed. âYou say that like I donât have a spider guy in my phone right now,â Isla laughed. âIf you know anyone that can make good on that promise, itâs me,â She chuckled. âI canât think of a better way for someone to spend their day than fucking me,â She replied with a grin. âSo I donât have a problem with that at all,â She laughed. âLike a treasure map for orgasms,â She joked. âShagging like youâre trying to break a world record is the only way I know how to do it, mate,â She said, laughing against his kiss. âMuch easier,â She agreed. As he kissed her neck, Isla ran one hand through his hair and used the other to grip on the arm of the couch and secure herself. She rocked her hips gently against his hand and let out a quiet sigh as her head nodded back against the cushion.

âWell for one you just tried to pretend like you donât like me, when you very obviously do because you same seem to leave me alone,â Sam chuckled, giving her a smirk. âBut maybe Iâm just good at reading people,â he shrugged. Samâs perceptiveness with was one of the things that he relied on often, and he trusted his own judgement. And he got nothing but positive things from Isla. âDid all of my shagging on company hours give it away?â Sam asked, wagging his eyebrows at her. He couldnât really help himselfâSam had always had an affinity for trouble and for most of his life heâd always had someone to grab his collar and hold him back before he got into anything too serious. He was trying to do that for himself, but it was definitely a challenge, especially at work where Scott let him get away with anything he wanted. âAll I meant is that itâs easy to fake a smile,â Sam chuckled, holding his hands up. âItâs nice to know youâre not, though,â he added, giving her a small smile. âOkay, fair enough. I guess you do have to be a softie to enjoy a job like yours,â he said with a smirk. When Isla did her impression of Frodo, Sam barked a loud laugh. âYouâre a riot,â he said. âIsla,â Sam began, a smirk coming to his face, âYou shagged me within like, two hours of meeting me. And I liked you even before that,â he finished, giving her a wink. Sam rose his brows and an amused grin came to his face. âI bet she gave up more than Scotty. But itâs cute that she was talking about the trip to a stranger,â he laughed. âAye, of course. Iâm a very proud uncle,â Sam chuckled, pulling out his phone and showing her a few photos heâd taken of Sunny and Floyd at Scottâs flat. âCute little bugger, aye?â he said, then laughed again at Islaâs comment. âReckon you give her enough tequila and you can get one of those medals. You know, before Scotty gets in there for good,â he joked. âI would say I find the bugs more grim than scary,â he said, wrinkling his nose. âSnakes are an absolute no-go. Thereâs a reason St. Patrick drove âem off of the island,â he chuckled. âOi, so getting banged out on every surface in the resort isnât enough for you? What kind of debauchery are you talking?â Sam said, though he still wouldnât talk about some of the worst things he did. âA year or so ago I jumped a guy for Sav,â he told her with a shrug, because in that story he wasnât the villain. At least he didnât see it that way. He didnât want to ruin whatever image she had of him, because the Sam she met was the one he was trying so hard to genuinely be. âAye, Iâm sure. I could never do a job like yours, so I give you plenty of credit for it,â he said with a smile. âLass, Iâm nothing more than an overgrown toddler. Me brother will be the first person to tell you that,â he laughed. âWhatâd you go to university for?"Â
"How organized,â he chuckled. âYouâd probably want to pass that along to me brother though, he makes the schedule,â Sam said. Though he actually hoped she would do it. He had so much fun working the last wedding with her, and if there was one thing Sam always tried to do, it was have fun. âYouâre such a tease talking about all of these deadly parties and then I realize Iâm gonna have to do actual work at them,â he groaned, then flashed her a playful smile. âI wouldnât be surprised if you did,â Sam chuckled when she assured she didnât think he was stupid. He certainly felt pretty stupid most of the time, but he wouldnât admit that to Isla. âIsnât that just being street-wise?â he said with a smirk. That is where Sam was actually very confident. He and Tom spent most of their childhood causing a ruckus, and after he died Sam only doubled down on his behavior. Which ultimately got him kicked out of his home and on his own entirely in Galway. He learned a lot, though there were pieces missing from then. One of the things he learned then is that drinking enough helped him not feel any pain. âAye, and heâll never let you forget just how intelligent he is,â Sam said with an eye roll when he spoke of Scott. âJust never get trapped playing a trivia game with them. Itâs fuckinâ irritating,â he joked with a laugh. âI wasnât always the funny one. Tom was the ripper,â Sam said with a fond smile and a shrug. Though he knew that Tom thought that Sam was the funnier one. He missed arguing with him about that, like he missed everything else. It was ten years now that heâd been gone and Sam still didnât know how to get used to it. âIâd never put you through that misery,â he teased. âAnd youâd be happy to see them? Thatâs grand,â he said with a chuckle.Â
âSo weâre on the same page thenâŚno more knickers, aye?â he said, wagging his eyebrows. Sam gave her an amused smile. âAye, sounds good lass,â he said with a tiny laugh. He guessed he was maybe just sore about Ryan still, or rather getting used to the realization that he truly wasnât meant for a proper relationship. Heâd probably just run it into the ground and make them leave like what happened with Ryan. Sam was more than hopeful for Scott, though. He was certain. âYouâre cute, girl,â Sam said after she explained her Candy Heart joke. âAye, only once or twice, huh?â he said with a smirk. âIâd be happy to bring it to your attention again,â he added, raking his eyes over her before moving his eyes back up to his face with a grin. âWhat, have you been striking out other than me? I hardly believe that,â Sam laughed. âAnd if you are Iâd be happy to introduce you to some people,â he offered with a wink. Sam barked a laugh and shook his head. âI reckon he were fit in his prime,â he said as his laughter subsided. âOi, go on then, give me your worst,â he teased, opening his arms out to her. âAye, just making sure. Itâs delicate information,â he said with a grin.Â
âWell good,â he said with a grin. âCause I was gonna ask if you wanted to come back around tonight after you were off of work, and I want to sleep in tomorrow,â Sam said, raising his eyebrows. âSav and I tried a new edible recipe and we need some testers,â he explained with a mischievous smile. âI think youâre way sexier than Joan Blackman,â Sam said in a low voice as he stopped a little closer to her. âI guess Iâd have to get put in cuffsâby a policeman, I mean,â he laughed and flashed her a smirk, ââto find out if I could charm me way out of them,â he chuckled. âIâve just never been caught,â he added with a shrug. Though of course he was hardly causing the same kind of trouble here in Hawaii that he did when he was a teenager and young adult. Sober Sam didnât even know how heâd do running from police these days, and he didnât intend to find out. âAye, and where are you getting these specifically six spiders?â he laughed. âDonât let the young grasshopper keep you from surfing on the big waves,â he said with a grin, though he thought it very sweet that Isla would be looking out for spots that would work for him while he was still learning. A lot of things about her were very sweetâuntil she was pressed against him and being sweet was the last thing on Samâs mind. âBedâs for later when you come back over, of course,â he said with a cocky grin, bending a little and picking Isla up in his arms, wrapping her legs around his waist as they kissed. âThirdâŚfourthâŚwe could really be starting a good record 'ere,â he mumbled as he pressed kisses against her mouth, and her cheeks while he walked her over to the couch and laid her down on it. âAgh, I hate getting out of a wet swimsuit,â Sam laughed as he wiggled out of the rash guard and tossed it aside before he dipped back down to kiss Isla again.Â
âAre you trying to act like youâre not enjoying yourself?â Isla replied with a giggle. âIâm not really a mysterious person,â She chuckled. âSo you might not be that good at it. Test that theory on someone more elusive,â She joked. Isla had always worn everything about her proudly on her chest. Her siblings often joked about her middle-child syndrome, but she couldnât help it. She was aware of how much she could be for some, and she wanted to get that out of the way as quick as she could. âOh, it definitely helped,â She giggled. Isla had been grateful to know that someone like Sam worked at the resort, because it meant that people could have fun on the clock. She worked hard when the time called for it, but she liked knowing that pranks and silliness and shagging were all on the table. âThat is unfortunately true,â Isla said with a little frown. âMy face always tells on me,â She admitted with a chuckle. âI donât think Iâve ever been able to hide it,â She shrugged. âI canât imagine doing this day in and day out if you were made of stone. Itâd be so boring!â She replied with a shake of her head. âSo are you,â She grinned. Her eyebrows raised slightly when he said her name and she immediately started to laugh when he reminded her of the night that they met. âEven before?â She repeated with a smirk. âGood to know,â She said. âAnd Iâm sure it goes without saying that I thought the same of you,â She laughed. Isla gave a thoughtful nod as she compared what Sam to what Eleanor had told her. âI think thatâs fair. Butâgirl talk is very sacred so I think itâs a little different,â She explained, more seriously than she had anything else. Isla happily looked through the pictures Sam showed her and cooed over the sweetness. âWhy wouldnât you be? Sheâs such a darling!â She enthused. âAnd youâve got such a sweet boy of you own,â She added with a smile. âDonât get my hopes up, mate,â Isla replied with a snicker. âI do hope thatâs sooner rather than later, itâs painful to watch them be so obviously in love with each other,â She said with a small pout. âSo what do you do when youâve got a little visitor?â She asked with an amused chuckle. âDo you choose your location based on snake population? Thereâs no snakes in Hawaii either,â She laughed. âAre you one of those that canât even see the pictures without getting spooked? Or is it just an in-person thing?â She asked. âOh, donât get me wrong I would love to get banged out on every surface in the resort,â Isla quickly assured him. âBut there is plenty of other trouble that can be made in and out of the resort,â She shrugged. âHe sounds like a bogan,â She said. âThank you,â She said, bowing her head for a moment. âI donât think Iâd be able to do what you do. I donât think Iâd be able to get people to do what I say that easy,â She laughed. âIâm glad to know that Iâm in good company,â She joked. âI actually got my degree in photography,â Isla replied. âI wasnât really interested in going to begin with, but I knew that it would make my parents happy, so I did. And I thought that since I had spent so much time behind a camera with my parents that it would be the easiest thing for me,â She explained. âI hadnât even considered wedding planning until I started working at photography companies in uni. I started shooting a ton of weddings and thatâs when the idea first got planted,â She smiled. Isla couldâve gone on for hours about the why of her career choices, but she wasnât sure that it was interesting to anyone but her. âAnd now, after a little sidestep, Iâm here!âÂ
âWell, itâs rather important that I know when my parties are, isnât it?â She laughed. Her party calendar was the most organized thing she ownedâeverything from color scheme to theme to level of fun was somewhere on the chart. âJust say the word and Iâll send it over,â She promised with a smile. She knew that she would be happy to see Sam at more events, considering how much fun it had been to have him there the last time. Some of the parties that were coming up were sure to be even more exciting, and she would want to share that with her fun friend. âI donât mean to be!â She argued with a playful pout. âIâll tell Scott to throw a couple extra security guys on if he can so itâs less work, howâs that sound?â She smiled. âSure, it could be. I just think that there are different kinds of intelligence,â She shrugged. Spending a life surrounded by her genius family had made her feel inferior for a time, but when she realized that she was smart in her own ways, she came into herself. âI donât know how I would ever allow myself to be put in that situation,â She giggled. âIâd show my ass if I had to play any game of intelligence against them,â She joked. âWell, you had to get your sense of humor from somewhere, right?â She asked with a warmer smile. âAs if planning a big party would ever be misery for me,â She chuckled. âIâd be thrilled to see them,â Isla grinned.Â
âThatâs what it sounds like,â Isla chuckled. âNo more knickers,â She smirked. âItâs a shame Iâve got such cute onesâwhat a waste,â She shrugged. âYou donât believe me,â Isla said, then slowly shook her head and clicked her tongue. âThatâs fine for now. But youâll see,â She continued, flashing Sam a smile. Sure, people often told her that she shouldnât see the world with these rose-colored glasses, but her response was always why not? She liked the world in shades of pink, and if she could recruit more people to see it that way, well, that was just icing on the cake. âSo Iâve been told,â She replied, flipping her hair over her shoulder. âOh, by all means,â Isla laughed. âAny time the mood strikes, feel free to tell me how sexy you think I am,â She instructed with a wide grin. âIâve done quite well for myself,â She assured him with a smirk. âBut not so much at the resort. It appears that someone hasnât been spreading rumors about me,â She teased, heaving a dramatic sigh. âI think so too,â She chuckled. She shook her head at him when he opened his arms to her. âSuch a tough guy,â She teased. âI know it! You can trust me,â She promised.
Isla smirked when Sam invited her to come back over after work. âHow could I say no to such an offer? Iâm happy to be a test subject,â She laughed. âI hope they send us to Mars,â She enthused. âThatâs an awfully big statement,â Isla said as she looked up at him. âAre you sure you want to dig in on that?â She asked, putting her hands on her hips. âWere they your handcuffs?â She asked, lilting her head to the side. âBecause if they are, I wanna see if they match mine,â She giggled. âThat does surprise me a little, actually,â She admitted with a smirk. Isla had gotten into some trouble once or twice in her college days, but it was never anything more than a slap on the wrist and a few hours in the drunk tank. Nothing that her and her friends didnât laugh off at breakfast the next morning. âYou worry about that mouth and Iâll worry about procuring the spiders, alright?â She chuckled. âIâve got my ways,â She added, quirking a playful eyebrow at him. The more she was getting to know Sam, the happier she was about this sort of arrangement they had. A breezy friendship with a reliable hookup was just the thing she needed as she got herself settled into this Hawaiian life. And Sam was just fun, she thought, which was a surprisingly hard thing to find. âIâll still go!â She assured him. âBut now Iâll be more thoughtful about the other places I go,â She explained. It was exciting to teach someone a new skill, and with how quickly Sam was learning, she was sure that it wouldnât take long for them to move onto better waves at other beaches. âOh, youâve really planned the whole day, have you?â She laughed. When Sam picked her up, Isla linked her arm loosely around his shoulder and ran her hand through his hair. âWell now that weâve got this streak going, I feel like weâve got to see it through,â Isla laughed. âThereâs got to be some kind of world-record in there, donât you think?â She joked. She let out a quiet sound as her back dropped against the couch and she immediately did her best to peel off her wet rash guard when Sam started to go for his. âIt sticks right to you,â She agreed with a giggle, then reached up to cup his face when he kissed her.Â

âI might not know you very well but you seem like the kind of person who wears her heart on her sleeve,â Sam mused, his eyes raking over her face for a moment. âAye, itâs a skill Iâve honed over many years of getting into feckinâ trouble,â he chuckled. Samâs smart mouth got him into and out of every situation heâd ever been in. Almost. At least when he was sober enough to use his mouth for talking instead of drinking. Which he had been now for five hundred and thirty three days. The longest now that heâd gone without drinking since he was thirteen. Or twelve. One of the things Sam hated most was that his memories now only came to him in clipped vignettes, and it was hard to decipher what was real. Islaâs voice brought him back from the depths of his mind, where it often liked to wander. âLass, might I remind you weâve only just met. Whoâs to say youâre not a cynic under that pretty smile?â he said with a smirk. Though he guessed he was a pessimist, assuming everyone was just as miserable as he was on the inside. âIâll spare you the details,â he chuckled, shrugging off the offer to tell her about the things that heâd done, and tried to hide the surprise in his expression at her seemingly serious offer to listen. But Sam hardly wanted to confess any of that to Savannah or Scott, let alone a woman heâd only just met and had fun with. What a way to ruin a good thing. âAye, rest assured me opinion of you is nothing but positive, girl,â Sam said, giving her a wry grin. âI did just about as much, actually,â he laughed when Isla said sheâd beg for Scott and Eleanorâs story. âI were out with Scotty the day after to get him a puppy and the lad was just so fuckinâ smug about not giving anything about the night up, so I rolled around a little and whined on me front lawn until he got too annoyed and finally told me what happened. Which he shouldâve started with, because your Eleanor gave him a nice little bruise right here for everyone to see,â Sam chuckled, tilting his head and tapping the side of his neck. He smiled as Isla talked about Eleanorâs apparent enthusiasm and felt something warm in his chest for his brother, and the thought of things working out for him. Because Sam didnât know anyone more deserving of it. âOi, youâre acting like Iâm the first person in the world to hate bugs!â He laughed. âLife is very funny indeed,â Sam agreed with a quiet side. Though funny was an understatement, he thought. âI reckon itâs no more ironic than me working as a security guard with my track record,â Sam said with a smirk. âPlanning for yourself versus someone else is quite different, I presume.â At her question, Sam paused for a moment. âI were eighteen almost nineteen when I left me village for Galway,â he answered, trying not to cringe at the memory of Maeve screaming and crying as she told him to get out of her house.Â
Sam cocked an eyebrow. âJust because I know how to breakup fights between drunk bastards doesnât mean I want to,â he groaned. âIâd much rather work the ones where I can fuck off with you,â he added, giving Isla a small wink, then smiling as she laughed. It was nice to hear Isla talk about her family. About how normal and nice they sounded. Sam wasnât really ready to dive into the complicated nature of his own family, and thought that explaining what happened to Tom and his discovery of Scott was enough for the day. Surely she wouldnât want to hear about how much trouble he caused not only his mother but the rest of his family, about how he had to beg for them to speak to him again, about how he went from fun drunk Sam to disaster drunk Sam in their eyes. âAye, well I finished me schooling by the skin of me teeth at sixteen, but I never liked the assumption that Iâm daft. Tom was smart,â he said before he could stop himself, âAnd I dunno how much you got to know Scotty in your onboarding but heâs feckinâ smart too. But I definitely agree that as long as Iâm considered the jester of the family Iâm alright with that,â he chuckled. âOh, quite optimistic to think so lass. But me family doesnât have much at all to save after the bills are paid,â he said with a shrug. But in his sobriety heâd been slowly saving up for tickets to get at least Maeve to visit if he could manage it. He didnât realize how much money he had leftover when he wasnât spending it on whiskey. âIâm sure theyâll get here. And maybe not all at once, but given that they travel a lot someoneâs got to stop in Hawaii eventually no?â Sam mused. âThank you,â he said quietly when Isla expressed kind sentiments towards his and Scottâs relationship. And he left it at that, because it was too early for him to start reeling. Especially with company over.Â
An excited smile stretched across Samâs lips. âWhere they should be,â he noted, feeling a little more comfortable as their conversation moved into something more familiar. âGuess youâll just have to stick around with me and find out,â Sam said. Though the last thing Sam would want to admit out loud that he was a secret romantic. After how horribly things ended with Ryan, Sam was more determined than ever to protect himself from a heartbreak ever again. It was too much to bear on top of every other violent emotion he felt nearly every day. âTeam Candy Heart?â Sam questioned with a chuckle. âYou joke, but Iâm sure youâre very aware of how sexy you are, hmm?â he said with a smirk, leaning a little closer to her. âAll I meant is I wouldnât be surprised to hear that plenty of people want you. I bet the bloke you turned down still hasnât recovered,â he added. Perhaps Sam was coming on a little strong, but Isla hasnât given him any reason not to. And her responsiveness to him only made him all the more eager to flirt. âWhatâre you, Mrs. Rogers?â he teased. âOh will you? Iâd like to see you try,â Sam said with a grin when she said sheâd throw him to the ocean. What he didnât say is he thought about doing that himself more often than heâd ever say. âHmm, donât worry then, love, youâll get a little preview of the song so long as you promise not to go humming it âround your roommate."Â
"Oi, first Sav with the insistence on early morning yoga, then me brother with the early morning gym, and now you with the early morning surfing. Does anyone on this island like to sleep in?â he laughed. âYou mean you donât want to be my Maile?â Sam said with a smirk. âIf we got arrested I think we might stand getting deported so maybeâŚnot so much exactly the plot of the film but more so being the king of rock nâ roll and living the easy island life and all of that,â he laughed. âNot give you attitude, youâre asking for too much now, girl,â Sam smirked. âIâve been out with Scott on his boat before. Itâs leagues nicer here than the murky Irish coast,â he explained. Sam gave her a proud smile when Isla praised him on his progress and nodded at her assessment. âRight,â he said with a satisfied hum, sticking his board in the sand before letting them back into his house. âSav?â he called out and when she didnât answer it confirmed that she had left for work. âNow what was the deal?â he said, bringing a hand up to push Islaâs damp hair behind her ear. âIf I stand up on the board we shag anywhere but me bed, aye?â And before she could answer he slid his hand to her neck and nudged her closer to kiss her, his other hand snaking around her waist and pulling her in.Â
âWhat gave that away?â Isla asked with a chuckle. âI think there are much worse things to be than a little sensitive,â She shrugged. âYou? A troublemaker?â She quirked an eyebrow. âThat must be the most shocking thing that Iâve heard all day. Maybe even all week!â She teased, flashing Sam a grin. Isla would not necessarily describe herself as a troublemaker, but more of a troublefinder which was mostly a result of poor impulse control and a mouth that never really knew when to stop. She did, however, believe that she was a pretty good judge of character, which was what kept her from getting mixed into anything too dark. âOh, I really doubt you believe that I could be a cynic. Like you said before, Iâm not that good of an actress,â Isla giggled. âAnd if I was such a secret cynic, donât you think my job would be torture?â She smirked. âSpending all day around the obscenely happy,â She said with a shake of her head. âAlright then, keep your secrets,â Isla quoted, doing her best Frodo impression. âGood,â She nodded. âNot sure my ego couldâve handled the hit if it took three tries to get you to like me,â She laughed. âEleanor only took a little pushing, thank god,â She smiled. âBut I was prepared to go full-annoying to get those details. One of the first things sheâd talked about when I met her was that boat trip. Of course I wasnât going to just let that go,â She chuckled. âI heard about the puppy! Please tell me youâve got pictures to show me,â She pleaded. âI saw it popping out of his collar the other day. Atta boy, Scotty!â She grinned. âIf I got a hickey from Eleanor, Iâd show it off like an Olympic medal,â She joked. âNo, no youâre not,â She giggled. âTheyâre just not something to be afraid of!â She argued, still having a little bit of a laugh. âEspecially when these arenât even that bad. And thereâs no snakes here,â Isla explained. âItâs my favorite thing about livinâ it,â She grinned. âYou know, you keep talking about this infamous track record, but Iâve yet to hear any good stories of real debauchery. Iâm starting to think youâre all bark, no bite, mate,â She teased. âQuite different,â Isla nodded. âBut Iâve learned quite a lot about people between doing this and the yachting,â She said then started to smile. âItâs weird, isnât it? I still feel like a kid most days,â She laughed. âAnd Iâve been out of the house since I was in university.â
âIf thatâs really what you want, then Iâll print you a calendar and highlight all the parties youâll want to work for,â Isla offered with a shrug. âI can even tell you which ones to send the people you donât like on. Like, thereâs a Russian wedding at the end of the month, and just based on the questions that theyâve asked me so far, itâs going to be insane. Like, Iâve been having dreams about this wedding, thatâs how excited I am. Security guards, on the other hands, should start training for it now,â She laughed. She supposed that it really would be in the best interest of the security team to know which weddings were going to require some extra muscle, so maybe it wouldnât be the worst idea in the world to give them a headâs up of what she suspected was to come. Sheâd rather ask for too many hands on deck than to have one or two guards going crazy trying to manage people. âI donât think youâre daft at all,â Isla assured him. âI think a lot of people make the assumption that just because youâre a ripper, or maybe not intelligent in ways they deem acceptable that youâre daft. But, in my experience, that couldnât be further from the truth,â She shrugged. âHe definitely seemed pretty intelligent when he was showing me around. And I donât really think that Eleanor would be in love with a guy who wasnât intelligent,â She added. âItâs not easy to be the funny one, but someoneâs got to do it,â She laughed. Isla thought that her whole family was quite funny, so being able to be the funniest among the group was something that sheâd been deeply proud of. Even when sometimes her jokes were met with shocked faces. âWell, if ever there were going to be a Morrison family reunion around here, I hope you know how to ask to help you plan it,â Isla grinned. âIt wouldnât surprise me much if my mum and dad ended up here for a day or two,â She agreed with a nod. âBut it might just be a quick airport hello before they got on their connecting,â She chuckled.Â
Isla giggled at Samâs smile then shrugged. âSeems like a waste to wear them at all,â She joked, heaving a dramatic sigh. âThis is all part of a very elaborate plan Iâve just now established to shake off the cynicism,â She joked. Though, with Samâs elaborate plan to help his brother, Isla didnât suspect that Sam really needed that much help. Maybe just a gentle coaxing to believe that it wasnât such a bad thing to be a romantic. âYes, team Candy Heart,â Isla said, standing a little straighter. âI canât believe youâre only just now hearing about us. Weâve been around since the dawn of time, mate,â She chuckled. âThe worst-kept secret society of all time,â She joked. âItâs been brought to my attention once of twice,â She grinned, turning her chin to her shoulder. âIâd love to see where these plenty of people are congregated,â She joked. Though, even only being here for a short while, Isla was already doing alright for herself. Granted, most of that came at the expense of shattering the only rule sheâd made for herself, Isla decided that if she only saw them once that it could be forgiven. Very few of them were able to stand out enough to warrant seeing them again, anyway. âA young Mr. Rogers couldâve called me any time he wanted for a real beautiful day in the neighborhood,â Isla winked. âYou see these guns?â She asked, flexing her arm and giving her bicep a pat. âIâd watch your mouth, mate, or youâll be kissing Poseidon goodnight,â She joked. âI wonât! I havenât given you a reason not to trust me yet, have I?â
Isla grinned, shaking her head. âIâm not up like this every morning,â She assured him. âJust when I see the waves are going to be good,â She shrugged. âI mean, if you think that I can hold a candle to Joan Blackman, then Iâm all in,â Isla grinned. âAnd here I thought you could talk yourself out of any trouble,â She tutted, clicking her tongue. âIf we get arrested, how about you just let me do the talking,â She teased. âHave you not gotten that all covered already?â She asked, quirking an eyebrow. âKeep it up and youâre gonna wake up with six spiders in your bed tomorrow,â She teased, flashing him a playful grin. âI think the ocean here gives most places a run for its money,â She agreed with a short nod. âYou will!â Isla enthused. âIâm still figuring out what beaches are for who, but Iâll keep you in mind as I do,â She offered. Isla grinned upon the realization that they were alone and sauntered in closer to Sam. âI mean, if the bed is what you want thenââ She chuckled, shrugging. âBut weâre two-for-two on anywhere but. Why not go for a third?â She asked, sliding a hand up his chest as they kissed.

âI really do just think that if he wanted meâif he loved meâhe would tell me,â Eleanor said with a weak shrug. âAnd since he hasnât he doesnât feel it. Isnât that what they sayâŚif he wanted to he would?â She felt herself frown as soon as she said it. âI didnât need any of those men to help me spot a good thing, Scott set the bar so high it practically left the atmosphere,â Eleanor sighed. âButâŚthey were good in bed thatâs true enough,â she giggled, rolling her eyes. âIâve convinced myself that he doesnât feel the same because of the blaring fact that he doesnât or Iâd already know about it,â she said. âI mean, Iâm not pretending like I want to be friends with him to you. Because I donât just want to be his friend. But Iâd rather be Scottâs friend than hisâŚnothing,â Eleanor sighed. âItâs just so very complicated with everything thatâs happened between us. So fucking complicated,â she huffed. âAnd you canât quit and go back to yachting because I wonât allow you to leave me,â she said, cocking an eyebrow towards Isla. âI donât know what shell youâre referring to,â Eleanor said with an amused smile. âI wonât keep trying to argue with you since we clearly donât find the same things embarrassing,â she chuckled. âAnd I love that about you. Your big old heart,â she said, putting her hands over her own chest and closing her eyes while she smiled. âWell I was trying to get his attention texting him in the first place, wasnât I? Then I kept his attention by being a drunken clown and making him worry,â Eleanor said with a small frown. âI still think he was texting me so much because I made him worry about me being too drunk,â she said, rolling her eyes and dropping her chin into her hand again. âAnd before you go off about that I know that he cares about me, of course he cares about me, but it doesnât mean that heâs in love with me,â she said, pointing a finger at Isla. âAnd I love every time you bring them back to the flat because they make everything look so lively and bright, so keep âem coming,â Eleanor enthused with a grin. âI do,â she laughed when Isla noted that she liked a bad boy. The only boy she ever dated that didnât catch an attitude with her was Henry. And she supposed thatâs why she spend nearly the whole last year of their relationship bored, for lack of a better word. âIâm happy to remind you any time that youâre a joy and delight to speak to, even if itâs just to say hello,â Eleanor assured Isla, resting her hand on hers when she touched her arm. âI donât even want to know what it takes to embarrass you, and I hope I never have to see it,â she nodded. âNot almost painful, it is painful. So when given the opportunity to stamp oneâs ego out Iâm happy to jump on it,â she chuckled. âMaybe tell Adeline that Iâm really really dying to speak to her and sheâll take pity on your poor flatmate,â Eleanor joked. âOh! Same as Peter,â she said, excited at the prospect of having something, anything more in common with Isla. âIt must be really nice that you got on so well when you were teenagers,â Eleanor said with a tiny smile. âOh my god, I love Americans that sound like cowboys! Exceptâehm, except Jason. His is awful and horrible and his mouth should be sewn shut so he canât talk over another girl ever again,â she said with a huff. âIf youâre involved it is sexy, Isla dear,â Eleanor said with a sleepy giggle.
[samâisla]: sure iâve seen apollo 13 like 5 times!
[samâisla]: when it happens just make sure uncle sammy is there
[samâisla]: iâm just not going to do that xx
[samâisla]: thatâs what i thought girl
[samâisla]: iâm more than happen to keep your mouth occupied love
âBut you really want him and you really love him and you have only told me,â She said, raising am eyebrow at Eleanor. âSo isnât the pot calling the kettle just a smidge?â She chuckled. âBabesâdid you get selective amnesia or something? The boat trip? Ring a bell?â Isla asked. âThat goes in the dictionary next to if he wanted to, he would!â She laughed. âThen, at the very least those other lads were just a lesson in what you donât want and the things you wonât accept from your partner. Which, at the end of the day, is just as valuable,â She shrugged. Even Andrea, who was a good boyfriend on paper, had taught Isla plenty of lessons about relationships. The biggest lessons, really. âAnd now you can take all that good dick and use it to make Scotty go crazy,â She teased, wagging her eyebrows at Eleanor. âYouâre the only person who doesnât know it, darling. Youâre smart enough to have fooled yourself. Which, is kind of an amazing feat, really. Even though I hate the thing youâve chosen to fool yourself about,â She chuckled. âI understand why you feel that way, but is it worth depriving the both of you of what you really want?â She asked. âI justâI canât wrap my head around why you wouldnât want to just relieve yourself of having to carry this weight on your shoulders,â She explained. âAnd even if we were living in some bizarro world in which Scott doesnât have feelings for you, do you really think heâd shun you? I find that extremely hard to believe,â She added, shaking her head. âAnd if he were the sort of guy to do that, then youâre better off knowing heâs an asshole now rather than pining over an asshole for the rest of your life,â She shrugged. âOh trust me, I donât want to go back to that. Iâm really enjoying having roots somewhere. I think Iâd like to let them grow for a while,â She grinned. âOf course you donât, because weâre breaking right out of it,â She chuckled. âClearly not,â She chuckled. âYou can thank Stas and Jack-o for that. They make me look cold by comparison,â She joked. âBabes, I donât know if worry is the word Iâd use for what you made him do. Seethe with jealousy would be my description,â She laughed. âI donât think heâs in love with you because he cares about you,â She agreed. âI think heâs in love with you because heâs in love with you,â She corrected with a grin. âOh, I wasnât going to stop. If you didnât like them, then I wouldâve just started keeping them in my room until I looked like that one scene in The Great Gatsby,â She joked. âAnd Iâll gladly remind you of the same,â She said, grinning at Eleanor. âIf I ever do get embarrassed, itâll be a shock for us both,â She laughed. âAs you absolutely should. Men have had their egos stroked for long enough,â She smirked. âOh, sheâs very excited to meet you. honestly, I think if I told her that you wanted to meet her tomorrow, sheâd drop what sheâs doing,â She smirked. âYeah! It was nice being so close in age I think. Even Adeline isnât that much younger than Patrick, so the three of us were all pretty close,â She shrugged. âIt was really great,â Isla nodded. âEven though most of my friends had crushes on Patrick at one point or another. I guess you just sort of get used to it, you know?â She chuckled. âHe should fuck off back to the mainland and go bother his wife,â She said, rolling her eyes. âYou got that right,â She snickered.
[islaâsam]:Â wow a real space cadet
[islaâsam]:Â not if heâs gonna call himself uncle sammy
[islaâsam]:Â why? are you jealous that scott and i are besties? itâs okay you can admit it
[islaâsam]:Â well i saw how hurt your feelings got when you thought your bestie ranking was called into question so i had to put your mind at ease
[islaâsam]: i would hope so if youâre picking me up at this hour

âWell tell them that I want us to be together too, and not the one that needs any more convincing,â Eleanor said, rolling her eyes a little at the smirk on Islaâs face. âExactly what it was. I always end up in those with horrendous menâŚâ she huffed. âHavenât I already explained it?â Eleanor said, furrowing her brow. She felt her chest tighten when Isla referred to Scott as her person. Thatâs what sheâd always felt like, and to hear it said back to her made her feel a little less crazy for thinking it. âIâd truly rather be his friend and torture myself just to keep him in my life than push him away with any unwarranted feelings I have for him,â she reminded her. And waited for Isla to tell her that thereâs no possibility he doesnât love you, too, Eleanor! âYou play cupid professionally, I donât think youâd disappoint him,â she said with a small chuckle. âYeah, and Iâve always found myself becoming mates with loud, shameless nutters but I still havenât mastered the way of life myself,â Eleanor teased. âI donât have an issue admitting to being an embarrassmentâŚâ she said, an amused smile coming to her face. âOf course I have to thank you,â she said, knitting her brows together. âOr, he noticed I was drunk and wanted to make sure that I got back alright. He worries about stuff like that,â Eleanor explained and realized how that sounded as the words left her mouth. âBut what if I really wanted to talk to you? Then surely youâd answer me,â she pressed, then giggled at her Thatâs So Raven joke. âMore likely that youâll nick some flowers from your office for me tomorrow,â Eleanor chuckled. âWell, I didnât have much luck making any good friends in the circles that my family ran in so I guess I thought I needed to branch out,â she shrugged. âAnd I only went right up to Scott because he looked my age and he was so handsome that I decided to be brave and talk to him and I just got lucky I guess. Then we started going out I really did befriend a lot of tough guys,â Eleanor explained with a smirk. âLove, I sincerely doubt anyone could walk away from you feeling badly, donât worry,â she assured Isla with a little chuckle. âIf anything heâd be more embarrassed about it than you,â she laughed. âPutting men in their place is a favorite pastime of mine,â she joked. âWell, letâs plan a face time soon! Of course whenever you can pin them down from around the world,â she said. âWell heâs not much older than you, right? Peter and I shared a lot of friends when we were children before he only started hanging round with massive wankers,â she sighed. âIâm excited too!â Eleanor said with a smile. âTo be fair to them I have a hard time distinguishing American accents from one another unless theyâre really strong,â she said. âUh-huhâŚeverything sexy all the time for Isla,â Eleanor mumbled with a sleepy chuckle.Â
[samâisla]: angriest astronaut iâve ever seen
[samâisla]: one of these days sheâll crack and give you a snog at LEASTÂ
[samâisla]: you sure scott knows heâs your bestie? might even have to explain the slang to the old manÂ
[samâisla]: are we not?Â
[samâisla]: are you going to be such a contrarian when i pick you up? turning up the road now btw
âI think both of you need more convincing,â Isla shrugged. âBecause neither one of you can convince yourself to just tell the other one how you feel. Even though Iâm sure both of you are smart enough to know that youâll feel so much better once you get it off your chest,â She argued. âDarling, thatâs what situationships are for,â Isla began. âYou get the horrible guy out of your system so that youâre able to spot a good thing when youâve got it,â She chuckled. âItâs an unfortunate fact that horrible men are often obscenely good in bed. Itâs what keeps us coming back for more,â She sighed. âSure, but your explanation has a lot of holes in it darling. Like a gaping crater because youâve somehow convinced yourself that Scott doesnât have the same feelings for you that you have for him,â She smirked. âBut donât you see?â Isla asked. âThatâs what both of you are doing. And youâd be so much happier if youâd stop pretending like you just want to be friends. Because obviously you donât,â She replied, shaking her head. It seemed so obvious to her, and she wondered how they couldnât see it when they were so much smarter. âI hope not, because Iâd have to quit and go back to yachting then,â She laughed. Isla felt quite lucky most days. It was hard not to when she had her dream job in paradise, and when there were people like Eleanor around her. âWell, now youâve got me to help you break out of that last bit of shell, darling. And I wonât rest until I do,â She grinned. âIâm sure itâs loads easier in times like these when you arenât being an embarrassment to begin with,â She chuckled. âYou donât!â Isla quickly assured her. âI wouldâve been more than happy to be here and bolster you, even if weâd just met yesterday,â She said with a smile. âWhy couldnât it be both?â Isla asked, then gave Eleanor a smug look. âHe just doubly canât ignore you when heâs worried about you. âOf course I would, but not at Mach ten like Scotty here,â She laughed. âAnd I wouldnât just chat with you while youâre on a date because I wouldnât want to distract you from said date,â She explained. âThough Iâm more than sure Scotty doesnât feel that way based on how much he texted you tonight,â She chuckled. âThat was a given whether or not youâd had a date tonight,â She shrugged. Isla always got a particular joy from giving gifts to people she cared about. Being able to spark a little bit of joy within someone, even if only just for a moment, always made it worth whatever the price of said gift was. âIf I donât take the flowers home and give them out, then the just die with no one to admire them. And I canât have that,â She explained. âYou love a bad boy and I love that about you,â Isla teased. âThatâs what Iâm always hoping for,â She nodded. âIâm glad that Iâm doing it well. And it really does mean a lot to me to hear that,â She said, reaching for Eleanorâs arm. âYeah, that doesnât surprise me,â Isla laughed. âThough, Iâd argue that Iâm hardly ever embarrassed. It would have to be something truly mortifying to embarrass me,â She chuckled. âAnd it should be! Men really ought to be humbled more often. Most of them have really huge, really unearned, egos. Itâs almost painful to watch,â She joked. âPatrickâs the easy one. His schedule is pretty regimented,â Isla explained. âAdeline really just is dependent on how much work sheâd got to do,â She continued. âIdeally, Iâll pin down a time with both of them for one go so that theyâre not eating up too much of your days,â She laughed. âHeâs just recently turned 27,â Isla replied. âAnd he was only a year ahead of me in school, so pretty much all of our friends were the same,â She explained. âI canât tell you how many times we unknowingly ended up at the same party,â She laughed. âThatâs true. The only one I distinctly know is that southern-cowboy accent. But Iâm sort of learning some others as I meet more couples at work,â She added. âIf I had it my way, everything would be sexy all of the time,â She agreed with a giggle.
[islaâsam]: and youâve seen many of them?
[islaâsam]: a girl can dream <3
[islaâsam]: oh i KNOW he knows. how could he not? go ahead and ask him yourself if you donât believe me!
[islaâsam]: shhh no we are :)Â
[islaâsam]: if you donât like it you know how to shut me up
[islaâsam]: practically an expert even

âDonât hurt yourself there, hmm?â Eleanor said with a smirk. Her persistence was very sweet and very amusing, but Eleanor just supposed that her optimistic nature faded with age, or that there was enough baggage with Scott that to be so optimistic felt foolish. âWell letâs just thank whoeverâs up there I didnât see that,â Eleanor said with a frown. âOh Jason was absolutely not my boyfriend, but ex-thing, sure,â Eleanor said, furrowing her brow. âI certainly agree that heâs the best person for me,â she said, giving Isla a sad smile. âThatâs a cute way to put it. Iâve always liked people that had traits I wished I had you know? Ones to try and learn from,â Eleanor shrugged. Since it was already an hour or two after she arrived home, Eleanor was decidedly more sober and indeed already embarrassed about texting Scott for half of her date with Henry and on the entire way home. Now she mostly wished Isla would give it back so she could read exactly what she said. âI wonât argue with anything you just said,â she sighed, rubbing a hand a little too hard over her face. âThank you for looking out for me and taking care of me,â she said softly, reaching to find Islaâs hand to squeeze again. âWell he probably wonât make me feel embarrassed outright but steering clear of me because of how embarrassing I was acting isnât the most unbelievable thing in the world, is it?â Eleanor asked. âStop putting the image of Scott with flowers for me in my head, itâs borderline torture when all I want is to see him right now,â she whined with a little laugh. âI just did what I pleased, really. Which was getting away from my family and making friends in a new country. And I kind of had my head in the clouds as a kid so the whole dangerous shipyard thing didnât quite register. So if thatâs wild to you,â she chuckled. âYeah, and my brother Peter too, remember I told you,â Eleanor said with an exhausted huff. âHow could anyone have a negative interaction with you? You simply arenât capable of it,â she insisted. âI guarantee Scottâs heard more about you than he probably wanted to,â Eleanor joked. âNo, of course Iâm not! Not ever, itâs one of my favorite things about myself. And being in sciences gives me plenty of opportunity to shove my intelligence is mensâ faces, which is something Iâm also pretty proud of,â she laughed. âIâm sure Iâll meet my match once I get to talking with Patrick and Adeline. Iâll find out during nerd time,â Eleanor said with a grin. âIs it really annoying then if everyone thinks youâre charming?â she pointed out, raising her eyebrows. âOh, weâre absolutely doing that, itâd be so funny. And lots of people confuse British and Australian accents so we could definitely make it work,â Eleanor giggled. âFor sure has to be a restaurant with one of those floral arrangement walls that I always see on my feed,â she said. âGot it. Must be sexy,â she laughed, tapping the side of her head as if to lock in the memory. âMmmph, the sweetest,â she mumbled, turning her head into her pillow.Â
[samâisla]: aye of course i love her and iâm not afraid to say it like someone here with a joint and cigarette simultaneously hanging out of his gobÂ
[samâisla]: eleanor will come around iâm sureâŚbe patient and consistent đ
[samâisla]: youâre getting your best bestie and thatâs IT
[samâisla]: why the fuck have you got me saying bestie
[samâisla]: not a worry iâll just have to take them off myself then
âItâs a worthy cause,â Isla laughed. âWhoever is up there must also really want you and Scott together, considering how they keep pushing the two of you together,â She smirked. âA situation ship, yes Iâm familiar,â Isla laughed. âIf thatâs how you feel, then why all the hiding?â She asked, furrowing her brows. âI mean, if this is your person, then you canât let that go. If you do, you might regret it for the rest of your life,â She argued. âAnd I simply cannot allow that,â She said. âIâd be doing my friend a great disservice if I did,â She joked, then patted the tattoo on her thigh. âOf course, I totally get it. Because then you can hope that their good stuff rubs off on you,â She smiled, knowing that there were plenty of things about Eleanor that Isla could only hope to become. âBecause you know Iâm right! Wow, Iâm really on a roll tonight, arenât I? I think this might be a record for me,â She laughed. âYou donât have to thank me,â Isla assured her, then squeezed her hand back. âIâm happy to do it. And really, what are friends for if not to celebrate and sook with?â She asked with a shrug. âConsidering the fact that he was immediately replying to all of your drunk texts, while knowing full well that you were on a date with someone else, Iâd say that he couldnât avoid you even if he tried,â She chuckled. âThis is not the behavior of a man who just has casual, platonic feelings for someone,â She said. âBecause I love you, and I wouldnât have responded after the third drunk text if youâd been texting me on your date,â She explained. âIâm giving you your Thatâs So Raven moment,â She laughed. âBecause I see Scott giving you flowers in your future,â She smirked. âAnd I know how that is firsthand,â She reminded her. âWhich is how I know that itâs badass to go off on your own, befriend the toughest person you can find, and also put your life in danger to do so,â She chuckled. âOh right, yes you did,â Isla said, then gave a short nod. âI hope it never happens! Iâd be crushed if I thought someone walked away from me feeling badly,â She pouted. âAnd if I had even an ounce of shame, maybe Iâd be embarrassed by that fact. But all I can say is good for him,â She laughed. âTheyâre great stories,â She joked. âAnd you should be proud of that! Putting men in their place is so sexy of you,â She smirked. âTheyâve already started asking about when theyâre going to get to meet you,â She said, grinning back at Eleanor. âAs far as Patrick is concerned, there is no his friends and my friends, itâs all just our friends,â She laughed. âAnd now heâs especially excited because he already knows something you have in common,â She said. âI suppose that would just be annoyingly charming, wouldnât it? And there are worse things to be known for,â She laughed. âThatâs true. Iâd say most Americans would call us all British without really trying to guess,â She guessed. âThatâs exactly what I was thinking! Then she can brag about her cool life and her fun job,â She grinned. âIt should always be sexy,â Isla agreed. She waited until she was sure that Eleanor was fully asleep before cautiously sliding off the bed and slipping back to the living room.
[islaâsam]: sounds like quite a sight. i hope scott has fun on mars x
[islaâsam]: oh i do try believe me
[islaâsam]: wow, he really hates to see me and scott being besties đ heâs so mean to me!
[islaâsam]: because weâre besties :) BEST besties apparently
[islaâsam]: so you DO want me to put them on then????????????????
[islaâsam]: wowâŚâŚ.i canât believe he wants me dressed like a PURITANâŚâŚâŚ.

âSo youâve said,â Eleanor deadpanned. She gave Isla a fond smile after she squeezed her. If she were less drunk and better with words she would tell Isla just how much it meant to her to have bonded so quickly with someone like her. âIt was hard enough hearing about it then picturing it in my head, if I ever saw it with my own eyes I genuinely would have offed myself. She was so fucking rotten so it made it all the worse. Itâs like, how could he have been with someone like that andâugh, no Iâm not going there,â she said with an exasperated chuckle. âThen my stupid arse got caught up with Jason partly for distraction and partly to make Scott jealousâand of course that was a disaster,â Eleanor sighed. âAnd I canât stop being embarrassed about nearly everything I say and do,â she chuckled, rolling her eyes at herself. âWhich Iâm sure my embarrassment is justified, before you say itâs not because I got my phone taken away,â Eleanor said, cocking an eyebrow as she looked at Isla. âAnd so with that, Iâm sure Iâve embarrassed myself enough to make a good enough guess that he wonât be at our door tomorrow morning,â she said. âIâll give you all the love anytime you want it,â Eleanor assured her, scrunching her nose as she smiled. âWell he seems to think that he was scary to me when we first met. Or at least he tried to be because a clueless girl wandering around a shipyard was definitely a liability,â she chuckled. âYes, well, his bad side isnât really a good place to be. And of course heâd be sweet to you! I talk about you all of the time and Iâm sure Sam overshared about you to him too,â Eleanor laughed. âYouâre right. Boys are so annoying,â she huffed. âI can be kind of a know-it-all! I mean I try not to be but I used to yet told off all the time by my mother and brothers for it. So thatâs got to be ego,â Eleanor insisted. âOh, please, Iâm not that clever,â she chuckled. âOf course you donât find me annoying, youâre bouncing off the walls ninety percent of the day,â she teased. âThatâs a very good question,â Eleanor giggled with a shrug when Isla asked why they didnât have sex on the deck too. âI think weâve already established that Iâm more than happy to stay on the phone with them and talk shop for as long as they want to,â she said with a smirk. âTheyâre happy tears now, donât worry,â she mumbled into Islaâs shoulder when she held her and smiled when she felt her kiss her cheek. âI reckon we look kind of like sisters too. Or itâs just that weâre both blonde,â Eleanor joked. âOh we should absolutely take her out for her birthday, how sweet,â she agreed excitedly. âSo maybe Iâll look into French lessons with a nicer instructor,â she chuckled. âWellâIâm always excited to see Scott but now youâve got me thinking about him sweaty and shirtlessâŚâ Eleanor muttered with a sleepy laugh. âMmhmmm,â she hummed.Â
[samâisla]: better be or else everyone else is gonna have to deal with the grumpy bastard
[samâisla]: sheâs okay i guess⌠đÂ
[samâisla]: no one over here would complain if you two wanted to crack on just so you know
[samâisla]: do you want me to come pick you up or not love? happy to bring you your bestie over instead
[samâisla]: bokeeee how corny
[samâisla]: always one step ahead girl x
âAnd so Iâll keep saying until Iâm blue in the face,â She replied with a grin. âAnd after Iâm blue in the face, Iâll be happy to remind you once more,â She chuckled. âI think even the strongest of us wouldâve had to take a knee after that,â She said, shaking her head. It was bad enough to think about the person you love seeing someone else, the knife was only made hotter when said someone else was dangling him in front of you like a toy. âEveryoneâs got to have one terrible ex, right? To get it out of your system?â She joked. âHe had Ivy and you had Jason and now you can concretely say that youâre both the best person for one another,â She shrugged. âWeâve got a very cute yin-and-yang thing going for us in that way, donât we?â She giggled. âI took your phone because I know you get embarrassed easily and I know that youâll be unhappy for letting yourself drunk text in the first place. I know we havenât known each other super long, but I do feel that Iâve gotten to know you quite well in this time,â Isla said proudly. It made her feel goodâgreat, reallyâto have immediately connected with someone as great as Eleanor. And talking her off the ledge of potential embarrassment felt a lot like what she and Adeline had done for each other in the passed. It felt good to feel like a sister even whilst being miles away from one. âYou said it yourself that heâs not the type to do that,â She gently argued. âAnd maybe itâll be the grand gesture he needed to get the feelings off of his chest. As simple as men can be, they can be quite unpredictable when led to their own devices,â She shrugged. âAnd Iâll gladly do that for you too,â She smiled. âYou really were a wild one then!â She exclaimed with a wide grin. âPrancing about on the dangerous shipyard with the tough guys on the dock. God, I love you,â Isla giggled. âFrom the sounds of what he did to Jason, Iâd have to agree,â She nodded. âIâm glad Iâm sprinkling enough positive interactions to earn such sweet words,â She chuckled. âAnd happy to know that my adventures are keeping the boys entertained while theyâre on the clock,â She joked, wearing the words like a sash of honor. âSo annoying!â She agreed with an eye roll. âYou shouldnât ever be ashamed of being smart. Itâs a great thing. The world wouldâve fallen apart with the smart people,â She said earnestly. âYou are that clever to me. And I know clever,â She replied. âOh, I know that Iâm annoying. Iâm just lucky that most people find my annoyingness to be charming,â She giggled. âI know, I know. Iâll make sure to factor in nerd time when I make plans to call them next,â She teased. âIâll allow tears so long as theyâre happy,â She said. âI reckon that we could pass for sisters. Next time we go out, weâll try it. Make up personas and everything and see how many people we can fool. Itâll be even funnier to see how many people pick up on the fact that weâve got completely different accents,â She laughed. âI know of a couple of places that are cute and Instagram-worthy, Iâll let her pick from those,â She chuckled. âIf you get an at-home French tutor, make sure theyâre sexy so I can have some eye candy while youâre learning,â She grinned. âIâd say sweet dreams, but I think youâve already got that covered,â She chuckled.
[islaâsam]:Â as well we should if we donât push them together
[islaâsam]:Â yeahuh iâm sure thatâs how you feelÂ
[islaâsam]:Â that makes three of us mate
[islaâsam]:Â oooh well i always wanna have bestie time and one bestie is asleep so bring him along :)
[islaâsam]: me????????? CORNY!?!
[islaâsam]: panties: ON
[islaâsam]:Â you already know this x
