I'm an eclectic witch and I will say happy holidays because 1. You don't know if someone celebrate Christmas, maybe from religious differences or trauma, and 2. New Years is a thing too and "Merry Christmas and a happy new year" is a mouthful???

The next person who tries to correct me when I say “Happy Holidays” is going to be told Happy Hanukkah instead. Very tired of hearing, “No, it’s MERRY CHRISTMAS.” I’m pretty sure Judaism was around a lot longer than your Buckstar’s boycotting butt, Karen.

My mom started going off about how you can’t say Merry Christmas anymore and IN HER DAY and I just cut her off and was like, “Try to picture this. You’re Christian and everything everywhere celebrates Hanukkah. You’re lucky if you hear passing mention of Christmas, because there’s so much focus on this other holiday. How would you feel?”

Idk if I got through to her by flipping the situation for her and trying to show her why it’s important to acknowledge that Christmas is not the only fucking holiday happening at this time, but I tried.
