It was only a few hours before their guests would arrive. Hajime and Nagito had ordered the traditional KFC Christmas buckets. Hajime muttered to himself.
“Taking everyone into account, plus Akane’s affection for food, that would mean we probably have enough…”
Nagito slinked his arm around Hajime’s waist.
“It’ll be fine. Stop worrying so much.”
“It's not my fault we lost the draw for who hosts this year.” Nagito opened his mouth to respond.
“And no calling yourself trash! This is a happy holiday with no negativity!”
“You know me too well,” Nagito said, bumping his hip against the other's. Hajime bumped back.
“I’m your partner. Of course I know you. Now let me see if we have enough plates and cups…”
As Hajime went about making sure everything was perfect for the party, Nagito watched from his perch on the couch, eating peppermint puffs and thinking about nothing in particular.
Until it dawned on him. He went up to their bedroom and pulled out the ✨sacred item✨ he’d been hiding under the bed.
He rushed back downstairs, taped it to the doorframe of the kitchen, and called out.
“Hajime~”
He turned around to see Nagito pointing up. He was standing under mistletoe.
“Did you put that there on purpose?” Hajime asked, already knowing the answer. Nagito smirked. Hajime couldn't help but smile as well.
“Come here.”
Hajime wrapped around Nagito, taking in the scent of his coconut shampoo and fresh breath from the peppermints he’d been snacking on earlier.
“Merry Christmas,” he whispered.

A Date With Death ~ Making Grim Blush
“I’m not gonna write fanfiction or headcanons about him,” I thought to myself last night before going to bed, my head absolutely brimming with ideas. Ahem. Anyway. 🌻 The quickest way to make him blush is by resting your chin on his shoulder and murmuring “Oh, Grimmy~”
🌻 It’ll irritate him that you're not using his real name, but the close proximity will get him flustered regardless.
🌻 He’ll turn around and say “P-please stop doing that,” trying to obscure his face with the back of one hand.
🌻 Another way to make him blush quickly is to press your face into his chest (or make contact with his torso in any way). It's very sensitive, and he absolutely hates the fact that you use it against him.
🌻 You can run a finger down his back and render him a sputtering, red mess.
🌻 He tries to get you back by biting your neck (gently), but you are either very resistant to tickles or just don't care if you get flustered. It irritates him more.
🌻 Something more tame that you do that makes him blush is starting to grow a garden of sunflowers from the seeds of the bouquet he gave you.
🌻 He won’t say it, but he’ll be very touched that you decided to do that.
🌻 Every time he passes by the garden, his face will automatically become flushed at least a little thinking of you. It may even make him tear up a little.
🌻 Seeing you spend time with your pet will also make him blush. He won’t admit it, but you look very cute like that. When you aren’t talking, that is.

He didn’t like sharing at first, but he couldn’t say anything when he found you in your apartment one night, all snuggled up in bed with Raphael. You had named the plushie after the angel of safe travels in preparation for the journey of your soul (Raphael is also seen as an angel of matchmaking and healing).
🌻 Speaking of sharing, he’ll…eventually…let you touch his hair. You enjoy having him sit against your bed or resting his head on your lap in order to braid his precious locks. If you look into his eyes while you’re at it, he’ll blush and avert them slightly.
🌻 To top it all off, you’ll either make a flower crown out of the blooms from your garden or weave them into the braids. He really is the prettiest grim reaper you’ve ever seen.
🌻 You’ll sometimes correct his typos, to which he’ll mutter the same thing again and again: “I do not type correctly…”
🌻 You always try to phrase it gently, but he’s still hard on himself regardless. He’ll blush and ask you about the proper grammar before disconnecting the call.
🌻 He still blushes when you mention the nonsense that is soul babies.
🌻 “You’re on about that again?” he’ll say. You respond by pushing him onto your bed.
🌻 “You. Me. Soul baby.”
🌻 “E-excuse me?!”
🌻 He’ll barely get those words out before you playfully hug him.

🌻 He’ll try various things and finally pin you to the wall as a last resort and growl in your ear.

🌻 You just smirk before stunning him with a quick kiss. He doesn't even know what happened, poor soul. You take this opportunity to taunt him.
🌻 “I’m the one with the most ‘rizz,’ my little reaper.” This mention of his previous cringey word usage will snap him out of it.
🌻 “Cease.”
🌻 “I don't think I will,” you’d respond, giggling.
🌻 This makes him pout— not that he notices. You bury your face in his chest again. He lets out a surprised squeak before just giving up and hugging you.

You were puzzled. You explained how people in the human world would often bully you for your identity, to which Mammon exclaimed, “How dare they! That’s worse than my brothers calling me a scumbag!”
Needless to say, you two felt a kinship over this event.
Lucifer
You’d decided to tell him in the privacy of his office after one of the mini demons kept pestering you about “revealing your gender.”
He didn’t know what this was about, but he saw red when you told him.
“The nerve of that…” he hissed, about to storm out of the room to confront your annoying follower.
You grabbed his jacket sleeve and calmly told him you could handle it.
You owed no one that information, but Lucifer felt honored you trusted him enough to share it with him.
Diavolo
“Diavolo?” You caught him on his way to the Home Ec. room to get some of Barbatos’s baked treats. You asked to speak with him privately in one of the empty classrooms.
After you were done explaining, you inquired which bathroom you should use, as you didn’t want to cause any trouble for the headmaster.
“You can use eitherー Actually, I’ll have a gender-neutral one installed. How does that sound?”
You were glad he was on your side and was someone you could confide in. :)
Barbatos
He wasn’t your first choice as someone to come out to due to his scary demeanor, but you had a gut feeling that it was going to be okay. You decided to tell him casually during the cooking lesson he was giving you.
He smiled and stared at you. “I see. Thank you for confiding in me; I know it’s very hard to say something like this.”
His response was more underwhelming than you’d anticipated, which he saw and offered you a cupcake to quell your worries.
“If you are ever in need of reassurance, do not hesitate to seek me out.”
Solomon
He knew from the second you stepped into the Devildom. You had no idea how, but he “just did.”
He likes using you to play pranks (with your consent) on unsuspecting demons. Things like using a myriad of different pronouns in the same conversation when referring to you and watching people’s confused faces is his favourite.
Simeon
You were in the process of debating whether you were gender-conforming or not. He knew everything, as you felt safe speculating when he was around.
When you did determine that you were gender queer, he was wholly supportive and would continue to be for the rest of your life.
Luke
You two were just hanging out and talking about various subjects when you decided to tell him.
“It doesn’t matter what gender you are! You’ll always be an angel in my eyes!”
’Nough said. He’s a sweetheart.

“You spoke to me!” he breathed.
You nodded.
“Why me, though? There are other demons…cooler than I am.”
“I felt like I owed--” You stopped. “You’re the only one who didn’t question why I don’t speak or force me to talk, you don’t put words in my mouth, and you’re… You’re very special to me. So th-thank you,” you stuttered. You were trembling from anxiety.
“Are you okay?” He scooched closer.
“T-too much talking,” you forced out before breaking downー from relief, anxiety, fearー all at once. But you’d done it. You’d spoken to your friend who’d been there for you.
“C’mere,” he told you, bundling you in his arms, “You’re gonna be okay. I’m proud of you.”
It would take many more months before you could speak in short sentences to others, but Mammon was there to support you through it all, no matter how difficult it was. Though, he did always make a show of reminding people that “I was their chosen one!”

Mammon ended up being one of your best friends aside from Luke and another angel named Simeon. You two would spend time in your dorm just relaxing to music or complaining about something or other. One night, you broached the subject of why you didn’t speak.
Do you ever wonder why I don’t communicate verbally?
“Yeah, but I figured you were uncomfortable with it, so I didn’t ask.”
I have an anxiety disorder that prevents me from speaking in certain social situations. It’s really rare, so not many people understand and think I’m deaf or speak a different language.
“That’s dumb. You’re clearly not deaf.”
You’d be surprised at how many people ask if I know sign language.
“So…was there something that made you stop talking?”
I can’t remember. It’s all I know. I want to be able to talk to you someday, though.
Upon reading this, he blushed and hugged you to hide it. He was so much taller, his head rested on yours.
“You really don’t have to put in the effort for that,” he mumbled. “I think you’re pretty great already. You don’t have to talk if you don’t feel good about doing it.”
“Okay,” you said quietly. He pulled away.

You returned to class once you heard the bell ring, eyes probably red and raw from crying. You were thankful for that boy keeping things confidential, though. Luke, however, noticed your face right away and commented on it.
I’ve been having a rough first day.
“What happened? What can I do to help?” he insisted.
I met someone who was really chill, so it’s okay.
“YO, MC! Where’d ya go?!” yelled Mammon, pulling the classroom door open. Luke rolled his eyes.
“Well, it’s definitely not that guy you met.”
“Listen, MC. I’m sorry for freaking you out. How can I make it up to you?”
I just want to go home, you confessed. The angel and demon looked at each other.
“Alright; we’re going to the roof!” Mammon announced suddenly.
“You can’t go to the roof! It’s time for class!” Luke protested.
“What’re ya gonna do about it, Fido?”
“Who are you calling--” But he was already pulling you out the door and up the stairs. You passed the sleepy boy you’d met earlier.
“Hi, Belphie! Bye, Belphie!”
When you two had made it to the rooftop, you took out your notebook.
You know him?
“‘Course. He’s my youngest brother.” He contemplated. “Wait. You don’t know my brothers. Can I borrow your notebook?” You didn’t feel completely comfortable parting with your only source of communication, but you complied.
He drew little doodles with labels on a blank page. “This is Lucifer, my older brother. This is me. This is Leviathan…”
After he was done, you took back the book.
So Lucifer is your brother??
“Yeah,” he said exasperatedly, “He’s always on our asses about something or other. He’s got a soft spot for his hound, Cerberus, though.”
Isn’t Cerberus a three-headed dog in Greek mythology?
“Pffft. No. Who told you that?”
Books and school.
“Human schools are weird.” He sat back, leaning on his hands. “Well, school is just weird in general. I’d rather be out spending time with my Goldie,” he said wistfully.
Who’s Goldie?
“She’s my one true love. My beloved credit card!” He clasped his hands together. You stared at him with a deadpan expressionー moreso than what you’d already been looking like. He didn’t notice, though.
“Luci stole her away, though,” he declared ruefully, “and has yet to give her back!”
Why’d he take it?
“I may have borrowed money from my brothers and have yet to return it…”
You two conversed until school ended.

Homeroom went smoothly enough. There was an angel named Luke who sat next to you. He’d seemed confused with your silence at first but quickly got used to communicating via notes. Your desk was also at the back of the classroom in the corner, so the chances of you getting called on were low aside from roll call, which was hellー no pun intended. Luke had to raise his hand for you and say “They’re here! They don’t talk,” which was too reminiscent of school in the human world. You felt miserable in that moment even though Luke was trying to help.
When you were let out for lunch, you decided to stay in the classroom where no one would bother you. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned.
“Hey.” You looked up. Mammon was standing by your desk. “So, um, Lucifer told me to check on you.”
You kept the same look on your face as always. After all, it was difficult to show emotion that way.
I’m okay. You don’t have to worry about me.
“Okayyy,” he said doubtfully. “Do you…wanna eat lunch with me on the roof, then? Since you’re ‘okay’ and all.”
You didn’t like this pressure. Oh no; were you starting to have an anxiety attack? Why here of all places? You stood up and pushed past him, running out of the room and finding a small alcove to huddle in behind the stairs.
“Hello.”
You jumped after realising you weren’t alone. A boy donning indigo hair with white streaks lay looking up at you. You started scooching away, preparing to get up and run from even more embarrassment.
“You can stay. I don’t mind,” he said sleepily, snuggling deeper into a pillow he was clutching.
I’m think I’m having a panic attack, you hastily scribbled.
“I see. Well, you can still stay here if you want to. I won’t tell anyone.” He then closed his eyes as you finally let the tears flow and dissolved into quiet whimpers.

Obey Me! Mammon x Selectively Mute Reader
Posting this during October since it’s Selective Mutism Awareness Month! SM is an anxiety disorder that prevents one from speaking in certain social situations and is something I happen to have. I got the idea to write about the challenges in school from a Webtoon called Cafe de Morons by Basil the Bear 🌿 🐻, but this fanfic’s negative parts will be based on my own experiences in school/life in general. Also, this will be broken up into five parts. With that said, read away!

It was your first day at the Royal Academy of Diavolo, and you had absolutely no idea how to ask anyone for anything. All you could do was shake your head “yes” or “no,” but even that was a challenge.
You stood in the assembly hall with a few other exchange students, squeezing your arms around yourself as a protective shield, trying to make yourself as small as possible so as not to disrupt anyone. When someone would approach you, you could only look down with a blank expression, not even knowing the face of who was speaking to you.
Headmaster Diavolo sought you out when he caught on to the fact that you had no idea where to go. You kept your head down as always but recognised his long, crimson coat and shiny black shoes.
“Are you having trouble finding your first class, freshman?” he asked. His voice was friendly enough, but you flinched at how it seemed to boom with each syllable. You nodded a barely perceptible nod. You could hear him whisper something to another tall demon standing next to him.
“It says on their record that they have Selective Mutism and Generalized Anxiety, sir.”
“I see,” Diavolo mused. You heard fabric rustling and saw a small, red notebook enter your field of vision.
“You can use this to communicate if you’d like,” he said, a bit more gently this time. You gingerly accepted the book as who you’d later find out to be Lucifer called out to someone presumably across the room.
“Mammon! Take this student to Class 1-E. Get them acquainted and settled.” You heard footfalls echo in the giant room as this person named Mammon approached.
“Why do I always have to do the hard work? You haven’t even given Goldie back!” he whined.
“Need I remind you what punishment awaits if you don’t follow orders?” This was a new, cold tone. You didn’t like it. You began inching away before feeling an arm being hastily wrapped around your shoulder.
“I’m on it, Boss!” You were quickly being ushered away so fast that you could barely take full steps. You had no choice but to look up. You saw someoneー presumably Mammonー with his light hair and disheveled uniform. But who was Goldie?
You dug your loafers into the floor to create friction.
“What gives? I’m showing you to your classroom,” he said, irritated. You broke eye contact right away and opened the notebook Diavolo had given you.
You’re walking too fast.
“Well, we’ve gotta get ya to class before Luci strings me up-- Er…before I get in trouble.”
What was this? He didn’t seem to mind that you wouldn’t speak. It had always been a novelty in the human world, but it didn’t bother Mammon at all.
“MAMMON!”
He suddenly picked you up and started running.
