Kaylee's mouth made a little 'O' shape as understanding dawned on her. Klaus would be fine, she was just getting all worked up over nothing. Her mouth slammed shut with a slight click of her teeth and Caroline's question and her eyes dropped to avoid her gaze. "Yes... No... I don't know. I want a new friend to play with but I don't want daddy to forget about me." Kaylee's voice dropped to a whisper as she leant forward to rest her cheek against Caroline's shoulder again. "With papa's full moon and taking care of the baby he won't have time for me anymore."

I bet grandpa was mad." The young girl pursed her lips for a moment, wrinkling her nose as a thought occurred to her. "Daddy doesn't talk about grandpa anymore. Neither does Damon."

The boy seemed lost, confused, and as a million different emotions flickered across his face all Kaylee could do was watch with a patient smile. Her smile widened when Damon spoke of the all too familiar name and she nodded eagerly. "Mhm. Stefan Salvatore is my daddy's name." Cocking her head to the side, she wrinkled her nose in his direction. "Do you think he might know where your parents are? I can take you to him if you want."

Again, she argued back and he had to bite back his temper which was returning quite quickly.  Her stubbornness, he knew, rivaled his own but his desire to control his won out and he held up his hands in surrender.  How far he’d get, he didn’t know, but he hoped he’d get further than being yelled at.  

“We had to leave you here while we fixed up the new house,” he said simply as he approached her, arms slowly outstretching in the hopes she’d walk into them.  ”It was too close to a full moon to risk taking you of of here, do you understand?”

Too tired to fight anymore, Kaylee simply nodded as her sobs began to dispel. She'd worn herself out getting herself worked up — something that had built up every day they'd been away — and now she just wanted to curl up and sleep. Even if she wasn't a huge fan of having a sibling at that moment, her parents were her home. Kaylee would just have to get used to sharing them, she knew that. With a small sigh, she closed the distance between them and stepped into Klaus' arms, her eyes falling shut as she rested her head against his shoulder. "I'm sorry, papa," she whispered, burying her face into his neck. "I missed you."

Caroline rubbed the little girl’s back and her eyebrows shot up to her hairline, “Wow. I didn’t even know he was…y’know, with child. Because normally that’s physically impossible. Apparently weird things happen every day. Honey, they’re…probably going to cut him open instead.”

All soothing that Caroline's presence and calming rubbing had caused was easily eradicated the moment she mentioned Klaus being cut open. Kaylee, who'd slowly begun to rest her cheek against the older girl's shoulder, shot right up in alarm. "Cut him open? They're going to kill him? No no no we have to stop them they can't kill papa!"
