Pointing out little moments and details of one of my fav scenes that need to be remembered.
locker room scene • episode 2
wilhelm’s body language in this scene is what immediately captured my attention and the reason why i focus way more on describing him.
quick reminder: it’s not me taking any side, but an analysis as objective as possible of little moments i like to dive more into.
sneaking a glance at each other while the room is emptying out and they’ll be soon the only two left. there’s no hurry in walking out of the door by none of them tho, so waiting for all people to leave is most likely what they both want.
the change of side.
they stand on the opposite side of the bench, not just physically divided but also emotionally distant, until wilhelm steps into simon’s side, starting to open up and honestly talk through it. breaking that wall in between.
simon’s the one asking to know what happened and sitting down when he realizes the situation doesn’t seem so tense. he is hopeful, interested and ready to listen to what wille has to say.
wilhelm’s hand reaching out.
it has a complete different vibe than what we’re used to, it’s not mutual but a one-way gesture. it’s for simon to feel that he means every word, he’s hopeful too and commited in making things work for them.
the wall they just broke down starting to build up again.
simon’s “how can i trust you?” shuts down the conversation and stops wilhelm from speaking any further. simon is right, he’s not supposed to trust him or being asked to give him trust, so wille passively reacts to it, not answering and lowering his head in response.
he lifts his gaze to simon again when he stands next to him. he’s on the verge of tears but tries so hard not to show it.
the transition from sitting right next to each other, being on the “same level” by speaking facts and confronting face to face, to simon who stands up, physically but also for himself, and makes the final decision.
he doesn’t look up at simon once when he asks about the “like friends” thing, he nods at the answer even if he’s clearly opposed to it, he doesn’t stop him from walking away.
it’s a ‘i think i lost him’ type of resignation that is written all over wilhelm’s face.
his nonstop head shaking. the disappointment is real: in what simon has just told him and kind of marked their finish line, in what he himself can not fix between them even if he’s fighting for it, in what they could still try to create together but nothing seems to go right.
he’s hurt, confused and defeated.
as if the final shot wasn’t painful enough, here’s the parallelism with the locker room scene in the first season: a place where they built trust and found strenght in each other’s arms turning into the one simon’s trust is lost and wille’s physical touch not reciprocated.

I'm here to point out that Wille was specifically dreaming about Simon's bottom lip:
Because—
And—
And then:
So it makes complete sense that once Wille tastes it again—
He doesn't ever let it go:
He doesn't—ever—let it go.
