Devis chuckles softly, “It’s an utterly indescribable feeling, I can tell you that much. Just trust me on that.” He tips his cup at her in a toast before sliding past the divider and pushing open the door.

“No? But it worked, didn’t it? Erm...mostly.” The blue-eyed blonde put his hand down and folded his wings, pausing to wipe an imaginary speck of dust off of one before it seats out of sight.

His grin broadens, winking at her again, blue eyes sparkling, “The best, Ma’am. I promise, you’ll wish we could stay airborne forever before we done.” he pauses and glances down at his hands, “It’s a very special feeling.”

“This weekend? Sure, I don’t have any plans I can’t get out of for a girl.” he beams, sipping his coffee and shrugging, “As for the card...it’s convenient. Not all dates are pretty ladies. Anything you want to do?”

“Not really a huge surprise, the Hutts don’t like anybody,” he quips, yanking the Manticore around to put distance between the fight, “Um, um...rocky airless moon or jungle mess...blast.” A sparkling of crimson energy rips past them, sliding in quickly before the ship lurches under them and the hull reverberates with an impact, “So we have lasers and asteroids. There’s a quad gun position in the belly, how’s your aim, Nat?”

Devis grinned and helf his hand out, “Awesome. You ready to go or do you want to wait for a bit?” He shook his wings out, crimson flickering faintly, kicking dust and sand around on the rooftop, waiting patiently.

“Great….that’s just….fuckin’ great. Ok,’ he huffed and pulled his goggles off, “So…laying low is the obvious first choice. I assume you got scare holes to go to, but in all fairness, it’s probably a safe bet I’m not on anyone’s radar- at least not in any relation to you.” He grinned and shrugged and little lopsided, “So, one of mine hidey-holes? There are two withing a five minute flight from here, lots of trees, roofs and spires between there and here. Hit there, count the take for a couple hours and wait till dark, then get out of the city?” He glanced down at his hand as he counted things as he listed them, “Uh…make sense?”
“Well, laying low was my attempt from the beginning until this shit show happened,” he ran a hand over his face and then looked at him again. “I have a few scare holes but I’d just we go to yours,” he shrugged his shoulders. “Yeah seems to make enough sense for the moment. I can’t think of anything that would be better, to be honest.”

Devis glanced at the tablet and shrugs, flipping to the end and scribbling his signature on the line, “Eh, good enough. Honestly, just want to get my shit back together and then...I dunno. Probably have to do some sort of assessment stuff, right? Or are we jumping right in into R&D and pulling this thing apart?” He slid the tablet back, acting completely nonchalant, padding to the door and waiting, tapping his foot with his arms crossed, “So...what exactly are you gonna start with, redesigning this thing? Been a long time riding shotgun in my back and all.”

He jumped, dropping the prybar in his hand with a clatter. He turned, hands dropping to a pistol slung around his waist, wings flaring widely. He wasn’t much taller then her, blond hair tugged back by a red tinted set of goggles. Blue eyes blinked at her, far more puzzled then anything else.
“Uh...since when to they let kids run around with guns in a museum the middle of the night?”

Lena watched with her head tilted, one eyebrow quirked upwards as she leaned against a glass case. This museum had a lot of rare artworks in it, priceless artefacts and other trinkets. But this guy, this weird robber with the wings, he just seemed fixated on trying to get one particular case open.
“So…” She finally broke the silence, one gun in hand. “Should I stop you now? Or after you get that open?”

“I dunno, really. I’m not exactly the guy who plans things through, if you hadn’t noticed….this morning, it was simple, y’know, raid the bank, split the cash, was probably totally gonna roll on those guys, leave a note or something. Now? I apparently took some super-spy stone cold assassin hostage and oh yeah, his creepy pseudo-government ex handlers are gonna come kill me and take him back. So yeah, day’s not going real well so far, but we’re alive, yeah?” he couldn’t help himself, grinning as he clamped down on his verbal vomit, starting to pace nervously. Finally, he stopped, pushed his goggles up and squinted at Winter, “So, uh….you got a plan or what?”
“Well, the not planning things through is really showing. I have to tell you that. And yeah, that’s an accurate depiction of me. Not only do you have Hydra that will be tailing you but now you have the actual government too because I’m wanted. You made a wonderful choice in hostage,” he let out a heavy breath. “We’re gonna have to wing it. I have no plan for this.”

Picking up the tablet gingerly, Devis shrugged and shook his head, grinning in kind, “Nah, I think we covered about everything we can for now. Gonna take a while to learn the new rules and stuff anyways, right, so I figure we’ll be seeing a lot of each other. This bracelet though... I, uh, get caught on stuff ducking through trees sometimes. Great way to duck out of visual, by the way. But it’s not gonna break on me, right? Once I get flying, anyways.”

He nodded and leaned over, shoving the controls to their stops. The stars stretched as if yanked, turning from pinpoints of light to bright streaks, spinning slowly. No sooner had he leaned back to give her a fiendish grin, then an alarm screamed and they were yanked into realspace and a running firefight between swarming droid fighters- and not one, but two, glaring white Acclamator star destroyers. “Blast. Kriffling Republic out here? And see that one with the ugly bulge? That’s the one that yanked out of hype....you better buckle up, Nat,”

The gravel food came up hard, Devis letting go and backpedaling, wings flailing as he struggled to regain his feet and trying not to drop Winter in the process, managing to do neither, stumbling over the other man and pancaking. He rolled over with a groan and sat up, wings collapsing, “But only ‘was’ right? So you’re clear….cause honestly, they sound like assholes, I can get why you’d wanna cut bait and bail on something like that. And…I can get not wanting to get associated in stuff, but I guarantee if they’re still looking for you, the bank just went up like a torch.“ He sighed and slowly got to his feet, “I got you into this, least I can do is set it straight, if you want the help.”
“How exactly are you going to get me out of this?” He was definitely lost on how he would help him. He turned his attention to the man after they had fallen and he shook his head. “You sure you can even do that? You seem to be messing up all day…”
“You know I’ll take it though…”

“Well...I mean, storage is an issue, but generally....kind of attached to it, y’know? Anyways, can’t sign anything if I’m cooped up in here, hows about we get to the, uh, opening the birdcage, Fitz?” He smiled broadly, letting his arms drop and collapsing the wings smoothly, turning to scoop up the remains of his backpack, “Maybe a flight range if you want to give me a chance to stretch them out and show what I can really do. I assume you cleaned out my place for evidence or whatever when you brought me in.”

“Nah, I’m not that one dimensional, jeez.” he chuckles, shaking his head, “To work for you guys. I’m no Avenger, not cut out to be the good guy, or some hero taking down bad guys for kicks. I got bills to pay and shit, y’know?” He paused and grimaced, stretching out a wing and loosely hanging his arm off the main spar, “And sure, you can have a look. Won’t get my hopes up, but if you can at least make this thing smaller, that’d be nice. Tired of buying backpacks all the time.”

Devis fell uncharacteristically quiet, fingers flexing softly at Winters back. Another block passed underneath them before he spoke again, “And you called a rocket silly. Look, I told you, we part ways and nothing has to come of this, you don’t have to try and threaten me. Besides, whoever’s your boss can’t be keeping good tabs on you if they have that kind of resource base and my sparkly ass pulls you off the grid.”
He started to slow, curving in a broad spiral, the scream of the engines dropping in pitch, preparing to land, “I’m Devis by the way, I forget if we got around to that in the middle of everything…uh, shit, whoops, wait, its Cardinal, actually. This secret identity thing is annoying.”
“My boss? I have no boss anymore. I had handlers, everyone within the Hydra fraction was my superior and I was their dog,”  he responded, narrowing his eyes. “Throughout history, some bad things have happened and I’m responsible for a lot of them. Clinging to the man, he looked down and saw a young blonde man falling from a train in his mind.
“I’m just Winter, nothing fancy. It’s from my title, the Winter Soldier.”
