Freier Fall DVD Commentary - Colleagues celebrate Marcâs newborn
Hanno: This Shenja... (Note: Shenja is the actor who plays Limpinski)
Max: Yes.
Hanno: ...wonderful.
Max: He's so great.
Hanno: There are always such great energies coming up. He's almost playing all the other colleagues as well. (Max laughs) I mean, in the end...a lot of supporting roles that each on their own brings a whole world along. The thread between Bettina, who you see here, and...
Stephan: You mean Britta. (Note: Britta is the actress who plays Britt, Hanno mixes up her name with Bettina)
Hanno: Uh, Britta...and Frank, there was a separate world that tells itself in the deleted scenes...
Stefan: Absolutely.
Hanno: But it would have taken the viewer away from the focus. But they actually have an affair with one another as well, and the, the...what's her name, Britt, right? The character Britt, she starts something halfway with Kay, which is only an alibi on Kay's side. And that's nicely thought, but in the final version of the movie quite reduced.
Stephan: It simply became too much.
Hanno: It became too much, yeah.
Stephan: According to the script Oliver was having an affair... (Note: Oliver is the actor who plays Frank)

Iâve always found this a rich scene: It hints that Kay is happy to let others think he has something going on with Britt. And he likes to taunt Limpinski (who obviously fancies Britt)
At the same time, Britt looks awkward when Limpinski mentions âwedding bellsâ (probably because thereâs nothing going on between her and Kay)
So in the script and one deleted scene, Frank and Britt had an affair before, which adds depth to these two characters (Frank can relate with Marc on the subject of infidelity; Britt seems to be looking for love in the wrong places). But in the end, the director chose to focus on Marc and Kay only.

A treat for UK viewers - the award-winning mystery TV series âDark Woodsâ (original German title: âDas Geheimnis des Totenwaldesâ) is available on Channel 4âs All4 - as part of the Walter Presents. Hanno has a leading role in it. Itâs one of the most successful German âkrimi tv seriesâ in recent years - I loved it but be warned - Hannoâs character is terrifying.
Maxâs next TV appearance will likely to be âBonnâ - scheduled to be out in Spring 2022 (possibly in 2nd quarter - April onwards). ARD channel billed it as an âEvent-seriesâ, so there will be a lot of promotions for it beforehand. Its worldwide rights have been sold, so there could be an English-subtitled version in the future. There are also rumours of a 2nd seasonâŚ
