I commissioned @haematicartwork to recreate this character from the pages of my friend I. D. Marie's book, The Tyrant's Daughter: Legends of Pangea, in time for their birthday!
Also her second book, The Prince of Paradise is out June 9th!

Medusa having a good time :D
Design breakdown + Explaination below the cut Reblog, do not repost. Comissions are open!
So, I recently had a late-night class on Medusa and her various depictions across time, and I felt very inspired by my prof’s descriptions of her and also intensely frustrated by the mythos as a whole, because unless you buy into one of the dozens of - fun but not historically backed - feminist retellings of her story, there really is nothing satisfying to Medusa, her fate or her death.
But i also felt like the victim part of her life had been more than explored and I honestly just thought her monstrous energy was sick as fuck, so I wanted to show her indulging in a heart and some intestine >:D
Here are some of the sources I used for the design, since she isn't often depicted with wings anymore:
Tumblr media
This Vase should be around 600 BC and shows Medusa as a monster with clear inhuman/non feminine features: I borrowed the most from this depiction, since that is what i wanted to embrace. The loincloth is dotted in the style of the depicted fabric, the face has prominent tusks and the large wings turned upwards are also from here.
Tumblr media
This is another depiction from a similar timeframe, late archaic/early classical period. This one was mostly an inspiration for the facial features and the way the hair is laid over the head in a way that looks sorta like cornrows, I thought it looked pretty cool!
Tumblr media
Lastly, this bust is a roman replica, and is fairly controversial, but I had to include it because the "wing ears" are just awesome and i wanted desperately to include them, even if this bust is significantly younger and removed from the other sources. All in all, I wanted to make an image of Medusa as a "fun" monstrous lady who is living her best life, and not a seductress (ew. looking at you, giuanni versache) or a tragic figure. She most definitely deserved better, but I like to think she enjoyed herself, too. Thanks for reading, if you made it this far! I oversimplified some things for the sake of making this rant short, but I am also only a first year classicism student, and I didn't take notes during the class, so I may have made some mistakes.

Outfit breakdown of my former dnd character, Aishiwarya, who was actually just a form of my changeling, Psammos. I made this when I was still playing him, but I thought it would be fun to post - his outfit as per official art was a nightmare to figure out lol :P

Candor, greater god of Fate, Chance, Prophecy. The Silver Lord, the one horned Holy, He Who Plays.
Another god from my setting. This artwork was started in like 2021 or something and it's been finished since 2023 if that gives you any idea. They are one of the oldest gods in my setting and later were consumed by Caerus, the current god of Chance, as the result of a divine chess game. Funfact: the child they are holding represents humanity!

Izek and Victor Vallakovich, as they appeared in a good friends COS run - I was asked to play Victor as a guest star and made this illustration of him and Izek for the occasion. The DM gave them a lot more depth and a very interesting codependent (homoerotic) friendship, which was extremely fun to portray as the players.

Sonyas lament
An artwork ages in the making finally finished! This is „Sonya“, a runaway noble girl embroiled neck deep in a necromantic conspiracy in one of my games, Summers Sundry Schemes. There’s various symbols and elements of the game hidden in the image, such as the broken necklace as a symbol for her broken ties with her family, and the stars, which are symbols of death in the culture the game is set in. I really like how this turned out, the dreamlike atmosphere from the glow. She is supposed to look like she is just barely keeping her eyes open, trying not to give in. I think it worked out well.

These have been a long time in the making and I love how they turned out + learning about them! My favourite is the Mark of Binding, personally
Tumblr media Tumblr media
@haematicartwork made these awesome magical marks for my homebrew campaign and for several of my players' characters. Each mark possess the power to open gateways across the universe, realms and planes, however; each holds it own innate power tied to the 13 Undying.

Laz(arus), the undying soul
Tumblr media
Y’all… its been a long summer. So, besides graduating high school, a two month internship at a huge newspaper, getting into my dream college, a bunch of changes in my personal life, a whole court trial and two dnd games ending and another one starting, I have been busy! Nevertheless, now I am home and I have some art to upload, hopefully chronologically.
This is Laz, the Watchers Paladin in my feywild game, where I play a bard. I hope to draw the entire party eventually. They are a reborn haunted by strange spirits, to whom their oath was made, too. They scare me (for reasons I can’t yet talk about) and impress me every session and drawing them was a joy. Since the game is all about each party member missing something important, I drew them with the thing they lost: their memories! I‘m pretty proud of the lighting. overall and all the hidden symbols of resurrection in the armour (lillies, lotuses, phoenixes, lazarus crosses and more!)

Been getting into these little render/object painting exercises and decided to draw some things from my setting over the last weeks. They’re really neat as handouts for your players and a fairly stress-free way of getting some little project done, each take about 15-40 minutes max. From top to bottom, left to right:
A dagger called Ripple, belonging to the legendary assassin known as The Raven, which a warlock player of mine received as a gift (turns out The Raven is a bit of a dad)
three kinds of drugs in my setting, Soma (a weed equivalent made of dried underdark shrooms), Euphoria (a synthetic poison inducing visions) and Glimmer which is basically magical coke that makes you fart rainbows
A Leidener Männlein, small alchemical creatures lifted straight from my favorite book series (Walter Moers‘ Zamonien series) which are used for artificery and arcane experiments

A lolth-themed back tattoo I designed for the Pc of a friend! This was my first time designing something like this, though recently I‘ve been getting a lot of practice designing tattoos, thanks to a very loyal client and their comissions.
This one was made to incorporate as many symbols of Lolth as possible and I‘ve recently decided to highlight the symbolism in my art more, so here it all goes:
The bottom landscape represents the demonweb pits, the domain of Lolth, the upper large spider is Lolth herself, her web and legs reaching all across the back, the black eyes show her omnipresent gaze over her followers. The writing is partially freestyled runes that are supposed to be secret messages in abyssal. Anything written in our script is drow. The translations, top to bottom: In Your Web, The Spider Endures (on the spider), Queen, With Mind And Body Devoted, Feed On Us, Before Her They Crawl
You may use this in your games, if you’d like, just don’t claim it as yours - its a free resource.
