(('It's Like You've Been Here Before' - S9 one-shot. Ft. Dareth and Nya
The first time was a bust, even he knew that. The second those crooks shook him down, it was over. He wasn't a figher, he never was.
But it didn't mean he was going to give up.
Lloyd gave him a look of dread and little else. Pixal offered to go with, but after some conversing, convinced Nya to go instead. Lloyd and her hugged before they left, for any time could be a last time in awhile.
She followed him, and he proceeded with caution. Smashed windows, broken in doors, easy entries to these places that were foregone for more discreet paths. Dareth knew the tricks with the doors and ladderse how to open them without a sound. He knew just where the best things were, be it food or tools, and he knew how to take them.
Eveeything was calculated, even though it didn't have to be. The clerks were long gone, hiding or captured, and it wasn't like all of the inventory wasn't going to be replaced. Yet he remained, nimble foot and fingered.
She watched as it came natural. "Guess I didn't take you for someone who shoplifts," Nya whispered with a shrug. She didn't mean anything from it, what else would be the explaination?
"Heh, yeah. Well, anything to survive right?" Dareth set a few more cans in the travel pack.
Calculated, even to the brands. He didn't even have to check. "If I hadn't known any better I'd say it's like you've been here before."
Dareth slowed and gave her a look over the shoulder, "old habits die hard Nya. Especially ones that keep you afloat when times are tough." ))
