Update: DM causually put an alternate version of his Tav in the game (sorry I gotta kill him cause plot) and he mentioned "oh yeah a bunch of tieflings like you just arrived in Baldur's Gate after they had like some trouble with goblins and like something about a druid grove" and I just went "oh my god.... it's gonna happen..."

Alright @when-emma-falls-apart asks for a Sigrid info dump so here it is!

Well, mostly, see I've been trying to figure out what I should keep as just stuff from her future campaign self because, as mentioned previously, she is the dnd character I'm playing as and of course the BG3 bois and girls probably won't be cannon in the campaign (unless you're DM Matt and reading this and feel like blessing me), but anyway that's all to say her Tav version and her Campaign version are probably gonna be different.

The main thing they both align on is Sigrid was raised in a temple of Wee Jas, and was wooed by Bane (yes that Bane, I had chosen the god before I played the game) in the form of a teifling hunter. Sigrid ran off so she could elope and only found out after the ceremony who she tied the knot with. After about 4 years she left and joined a druid grove where she got sanctuary from from Bane.

The thing is the campaign version ran off cause she was PREGANTE/PREGERNAT and learned the whole reason Bane even bothered to mess with her in the first place was because he wanted a child to basically use as a backup body in case he ever died again. This is a thing that has canonically happened in the dnd world so it's not as far-fetched as it sounds.

I think I'd like to keep that aspect for Sigrid's Tav version, having her have not given birth yet as to kinda blend in with the party more once the nautiloid takes some druid from her grove on its way to abduct more people like a 1960s alien movie.

Having her still be pregnant though means she'd be less likely to confess or know what to do with Gale considering his "I wouldn't exactly consider myself father material" feelings. Like she can't exactly be like "great you feel the same way I do about you! Now just so you know if I die in battle you get custody of my strange demi-baby cause their father ain't gonna get near him if I have a say in the matter" "I'm sorry you're pregnant?"

Sorry maybe none of that made sense I'm in a zoned out moment kinda ANYWAY

Watching Swan Lake because I have a free trial to the ROH stream thingy and Gale would 100% take you to the ballet if you liked it, get you tickets to every new show, even though he’s not too interested in it. He would watch your face lighting up while you watched the dancers, and bask in how happy it made you.

addendums: cult classic tv overlaps with early supernatural seasons somewhat, i am aware, just choose based on the cultural context in which you read your first fic.

for weeaboo crew i was thinking of examples like hetalia, black butler, soul eater, etc--popular anime absolutely included but the distinction is that people who were into dragon ball weren't necessarily going to anime club every week and making deviantart stamps about yaoi, but people into ouran high school host club ABSOLUTELY were.

homestuck is in its own category because homestuck changed fandom forever at a critical time which just happened to be when i was growing up in fandom. harry potter, lotr, star wars, and twilight are in their own categories because they were such multimedia juggernauts they had entire archives dedicated solely and only to their fic that spanned multiple franchise reboots (books -> movies -> extended universes). (i acknowledge star trek technically would fit under this but at the time culturally it had more overlap with other cult classic tv fandoms.)

honorable mentions that didn't make it to the list because i had to pick-and-choose with the 12 answer limit: the final fantasy franchise (axed because i am not familiar enough with the fic scene to know if it was as iconic of a gateway drug as, like, naruto or twilight or star wars fic), a general YA lit category (YA lit outside of twilight only went mainstream slightly after this time period), the MCU (i have a hate boner for the MCU), a broader "american superhero comics" category (this would be valid as an option but i don't have the space)

Well I told myself If 10 people liked it within the week I’d make it and I got 20 people that liked it (I had to vote to get a result for some reason) within less than an hour so despite the two people that said nah (I’m sorry yall but you don’t have to read it if you don’t want to) I’ll do it I guess stay tuned.

So like would anyone like a platonic/familial Astarionxoc? I haven’t seen a lot just popping up and I had a very vivid nightmare the other day about being turned into a vampire by Cazador and being forced into being his concubine or something and like trauma bonding with Astarion and getting big bro vibes and escaping together kinda? Anyway I started writing it down in my google docs and thought I’d do a full blown fanfic with maybe some Galexoc romantic stuff cause I’m a sucker and putting it on ao3 but like don’t wanna do it if no one is gonna read it.

Btw: I’m also thinking about rebooting Matchmaker (the Heisenbergxoc) for those reading that. I went through the doc the other day and realized there’s bits I wanted to do better so.
