(and less anyone be confused, she was wearing a mask, not just Scar's face, a side view!:)

When we got him, Enkidu had a gap in his skull the size of the pad of my thumb. It's a normal thing for chihuahuas, Gil had it for a little while too, but his was much smaller at an earlier age.
Enkidu's molera has been closing up pretty reliably, day by day, and it's shocking how fast the bone is growing in. Just. No wonder you sleep and eat so much, YOU ARE GROWING A BONE HELMET FOR YOUR BRAIN.

My wife and I are on a JOURNEY to get my single camel a wife. We are riding her home to my ziggurat. ...I just need to share this screenshot of my wife and the camel gazing at the sunset together.
...yes they're wearing BDubs' skin. It's for unrelated reasons.

Family photo from the Winter Festival! Also happy birthday Lee!

We streamed the ruffSMP winterfest tonight! @aurorashard and Bee (whose tumblr I never remember) especially put a TON of work into this, and it was a blast. We did an escape room, had fun zoomies (tyvm Etho for that idea), played with goats and zoglins, and burnt a Gävlebocken!
And I got killed again. This time by an anvil. But still. If it becomes festival tradition to kill me at the end I shall survive. Well I'll die, but small price to pay <3
Also HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the lovely Apocaleepse <3

My server’s having a Halloween event, so I made an alien abduction-themed corn maze! It is only a little bit deadly, and there are some fabulous prizes at the end because it’s so annoying to navigate. :D

I need you guys to know that this Scarblin librarian doesn’t sell a single enchanted book. Not ONE. The most valuable things he will offer me are clocks and nametags.
He’s so useless, but it’s so on brand that I love him for it.

...seriously I enjoy it aesthetically but it’s SUCH a pain in the ass to acquire and make. I’m decimating the nearby mangrove swamp. My wheat farm cannot keep up. I’m suffering.

So I’m working on the minor shrines around my temple. This one is to my mystery god, of shadows and secrets, so I shaded its part of the courtyard with a canopy.
Tumblr media
There’s this eye motif in the courtyard, and on the banners inside...
Tumblr media
And a library descending into shadows as well. (Those bee boxes are meant to be storage for cuneiform tablets, btw.)
And as you may have noticed from the aerial shot...
Tumblr media
I have released my first two free-range goblins as the priests who tend this shrine. Yes, they are cursed, and I love them very much.

Hey, Minecraft enjoyers. Weird question: do you have, like... a "home" biome? Like, not necessarily your favorite biome to build in, but just the one that feels the most like home when you build your base there? Like. It just feels Right.
Mine is the Plains tbh

So Mags was harassing me to post some ziggurat updates, now that the ziggurat proper has been built, so here you go!
Here’s a view from the doorway of the temple at the top, where I keep my bed and my shrine to the city goddess and everything...
Tumblr media
Pay no mind to the dirt outlines in the first two screenshots. There’s...
Tumblr media
Some ongoing construction, you might say.

The internal struggle between “how many freeroaming villagers can I have in this area” vs “how many zombies and skeletons can I spawn in the hellrealm I intent do create beneath my build”, all without creating so much lag it becomes unplayable...
Literally maybe I will build the hellrealm in the Nether. It won’t entirely fit My Vision, and will make the zombies and skeletons harder, but... it will also prevent things from going to Boatem hell.

Accidentally lagged the FUCK out of my base bc my chicken cooker was too effective and there was an unknowable amount of chicks just hanging out in orb form in there. Whoops.

SO MANY MUD BRICKS. ...more mud bricks will be necessary in the future.
But right now, I need more quartz. A lot of quartz.
This is, as far as anyone knows, historically and archaeologically accurate, btw. It will remain so. I play to leave little lecterns around to give information about the facts regarding certain features of the ziggurat and the temple complex.
I’ll probably also add lecterns with my own lore (clearly indicated), because I’ve gone to the effort of getting a whole lot of heads of goblin Grian and Scar and Gem to slap on my villagers before I release them into the temple complex. The goblin lore is going to happen.
But the point is, the ziggurat is historically and archaeologically accurate. It’s frankly an improvement on the design I did a few years ago. It’s beautiful.
.......if you’re interested in playing this world and exploring my ziggurat, pls PM me or @ruffboijuliaburnsides on twitter. We’re very open to friends, there’s plenty of space to claim, we’d love to have you if you think my archaeologically accurate builds are interesting.

God I hate that Minecraft tutorials are almost exclusively on YouTube these days. It’s just... absolute garbage. Like. In the first place, videos don’t play well with my brain. In the second place, I have to keep rewinding and rewatching bits to understand what just happened bc you did and said something so fast I didn’t understand it. And in the third place, the one thing I think YouTube videos would be good for over old school blueprints, they fail at, which is... they rarely explain why they’re placing this specific block here. Why this makes the redstone work, why this improves things aesthetically, any of it... it’s just. Here’s how to exactly recreate what I’m doing. If you want to know why so you can eventually do this on your own, fuck you. I hate it.

Started a new world for the new update, and I’m planning to experiment with building styles in this one. Current village isn’t super complex - I’m just trying to set up some farms and villager trading, with the architecture trying to keep the general feel of the vanilla villages, mostly cobblestone and wood and nothing terribly structurally complex, while making the buildings larger and, you know, functional.
I’m drawing a bit on various Alpine architectures for inspiration, and also trying to integrate the hilly meadow biome into the build - you can see in the second and third screenshots, both of the buildings I’ve made so far have second floors with doors that let out at ground level.
I’m also really pleased with the path I made down the mountain. It just looks very good at night. There’s a house way down at the bottom that I’m going to have to renovate when I’m done with the village up top (the original village did that thing where it generates on a hill and sometimes makes a weirdly inaccessible house that I had to carve out a path to), but for right now it’s where I’m stabling my donkey so I don’t have to ride him all the way up the path.

Somehow the biggest difficulty I’ve had with the Wilds Update is sound files crashing my fucking game. And given that it’s [caving_dim_noise] that’s doing it, at least when the crash report comes up… I kind of think it might actually be because of the Warden’s bullshit. I’ve reinstalled things multiple times, but my games keep fucking crashing because of this dim caving noise. What the shit.
