130 Day Productivity Challenge!
6 Feb '24 - Day 46
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I spent the majority of today studying my ass off.
I read through, practiced and revised Moving Charges, Magnetism, EMI, Alcohols Phenols Ethers, Aldehydes Ketones CA, Principles of Inheritance, Molecular Basis, Human Repro and Reproductive Health for tomorrow's test.
I've solved a lot of past papers where the questions are repetitive now. I look forward to tomorrow's paper being the same: familiar and in my area of knowledge and practice.
Hope you had a good day💛

how to stay motivated long-term
trust, me i know that long-term motivation and consistency is hard. long-term motivation might be difficult to maintain, but there are effective techniques to help you stay focused and determined. whether you're seeking personal ambitions, academic achievements, or professional success, here are some strategies to help encourage motivation:
understand the reason behind your goal ☆ does your goal contribute to personal growth or meaningful relationships? ☆ how does your goal impact others? ☆ is your goal meaningful to you? if your goal lacks meaning, it may be hard to maintain motivation.
positive and negative motivation motivation can come from different places ☆ positive motivation: the desire to experience pleasure ☆ negative motivation: the desire to avoid something (an outcome) both types of motivation have their place, so learn to recognise what type fits in where. (post on this coming soon)
set up systems use your initial motivation to set up structures: ☆ create routines, systems and habits that help you towards your goal even when your motivation fluctuates ☆ when your emotions wane, rely on these systems and disciplines to maintain momentum
break down goals ☆ tackle one goal at a time to avoid feeling overwhelmed ☆ set achievable milestones and celebrate each step forward ☆ keep the momentum going by focusing on manageable tasks
validate good work ☆ give yourself a little reward, or thank yourself, for completing hard tasks ☆ this reinforces motivation and encourages effort
remember--motivation isn't in a constant state, it ebbs and flows. these small tips will help to stay motivated. i'm going to provide more information in upcoming posts, and i will link them here once they are published.
luck on your journey ❤️

I had a herbal juice when I went to jogging this morning, one of the ingredients was giloy. Giloy is used as a herbal medicine for times immemorial, so I decided to look up if it has any mentions in any of the Ayurvedic Texts.
And it does! Giloy finds its mentions in the book BhavaPrakasha, a textbook originally in Sanskrit (duh) that contained tens of thousands more slokhs (verses) than it does today - a large chunk of Ayurvedic knowledge is now lost! Presently, the book has 108 (or 109) chapters depending on the edition.
This text is considered so important, so much so it's called the nucleus of Ayurved!
Anyway, here are the verses and translation -
Tumblr media
Another thing that was amusing to me was how a medical textbook was written in verses, like in a poem format rather than sentences. Too hard to find such things nowadays!
-> Just so we are clear on a few things, according to ayurved the physical human body is composed of three fundamental categories called Doshas, Dhatus and Malas. The Doshas are three in number, the Dhatus are seven, and the Malas are three. The three Doshas (Tridoshas) are Vata, Pitta and Kapha. These doshas are derived from the five elements of nature and its related properties, wherein Vata is composed of space & air, Kapha of fire & water and Pitta of earth & water. It's said that physical, mental ailments is caused due to imbalance in these doshas. When they say, Giloy has tridosh balancing property - theyre talking about this.
Giloy is a go to recommendation during dengue.

🌲 study stats (50/10):
d13: 🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲
bored with the ✅ so now i get a 🌱 if i complete it or at least make decent progress on it:
catch up on phar 🌱
understand phil asst instructions 🌱
review everything for psyc quiz 🌱
finish + send phar report 🌱
psyc quiz 🌱
exercise 🌱 (not originally on the list bc i forget about it in busy times but i'm 99% sure a lack of it is contributing to my insomnia)
🧘🏻‍♀️ my best life is lived in this world, not some other one i imagine. in this best life, i am learning how to be independent and self-sufficient as an aspiring bioinformatician working towards my BSc in life sciences. a worthy work in progress, even if the road is messy. i may be single and sooo not ready to mingle (somehow this is a salient thought recently...perhaps it's because it's february), but whatever i go through, i don't go through it alone, even if it may feel like it.

March looks a lot like
Golden sunlight through white curtains, melted chocolate easter eggs, cherry flavored lip balm, exhilaration, the scent of wet earth, giggles, stargazing, flowy dresses, trips to the beach, ukeleles, bright green grass, bouquets of pink tulips, freshly baked banana bread, picnics with close friends, gold jewellery, new notebooks, reading poetry in the afternoon, candlelight dinners, tabby cats, the fresh feeling of productivity, morning jogs, strawberry smoothies and avocado toast, rosewater, the press of lips against your forehead, love and peace.
