I must not respond to the bad take. Responding to the bad take is the mind-killer. Responding to the bad take is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face the bad take. I regret to inform you that a bunch of people who came up through fandom culture have gone on to become big or semi-big full time creators ourselves.

I am not going to abandon fan culture or fandom just because a microscopic slice of it focuses on my work.

It was the world I whetted my storytelling tools on. Why would I abandon it just because those tools helped me carve my own statues? How else can I keep them sharp?

I know the genie is out of the bottle and you can't go back but dear GOD I hate the mainstreamification of fandom so much

I do NOT want authors or showrunners or actors to acknowledge us or talk about fanfic or fanart or fan theories! I do NOT want people asking questions of the canon creators and getting them answered (make up your own answers, like god intended!) I do NOT want companies making jokey advertisements aimed toward fandom!

I know that fandom was never entirely underground but like... I miss that fourth wall existing, you know?

Hello lovely Humans, I hope this reaches some people, so even If you dont have an answer maybe please share it with someone who might do? Only If you want to of course. So I am a writer and I am sort of in a dead end in my research. I am looking to hear some experiences of straight! (In this case it would have to be specifically heterosexual, sorry) people that have fallen in love/are in a relationship with a trans person (e.g. straight woman falls in love with trans dude and vice versa), because i want to write a couple like that in one of my stories. If there is anyone that is willing to share some insights into their experience, I would be sooo happy and grateful. I am not straight, but I am cis and I always want to make sure my writing never ever hurts anyone accidentally. I really hope this reaches someone.
