I've been wanting to draw Azula post-years of therapy, having recovered and made it out of the asylum with the help of those who truly care for her. Because I think she deserves it. The concept happened to coincide with a prompt ficlet I wrote, so I settled on the scene where she's recently returned to the palace on Zuko's invitation, and is sitting in front of the mirror she once shattered.

I should be doing inktober but instead I’m back to my old bullshit. Old as in long time no see? Hello again! Sorry for radio silence, I’ll try to answer all the overdue asks asap >.<!

As for this drawing… yeah, Azula’s redemption arc. I’ve got thoughts and opinions on this and I really like Aaron Ehasz Canadian Azula idea. It fits so well :D But since I can’t write anything half coherent to save my life I’ll stick to drawing (speaking of which, small doodle below because idk where else to share it )

katara and sokka both have terrible abandonment issues, and the one constant in their lives to mitigate that has been the unwavering presence of the other. when push comes to shove, they both know that no matter how much they disagree or find the other annoying, they will support and love each other no matter what, and it is only through that support that either of them can be as strong individually. but after the war... there’s bound to be a point when they separate, even if it’s not permanent.

even if they both live in the south pole for the majority of the year—and they do, with their dad and gran gran again after all these years—they both have different duties to the world. even if they’re only split up for short intervals before reuniting again, katara notices when sokka isn’t around to annoy her or plan their days or solve her problems; sokka notices that katara isn’t there to bring him tea when he’s too in the zone to remember to take breaks or hug him in a moment of victory or rope him into going on fun little adventures just for the hell of it.

sure, sometimes katara screams at sokka so loud and for so long that even though he’s long since tuned her out, his ears won’t stop ringing for the rest of the day; and sure, sometimes sokka will be so condescending to katara that aang has to hold her back from pushing him off the side of appa’s saddle midair—but the world also feels hollower without their sibling—their other half—around. a little less warm, a little less loving, a little less safe.

they lost so many people to the war. they lost their parents: first their mom, and then their dad. sokka watched yue die, and katara watched jet die. but the first time they separate knowing it’s going to be more than just a few days before they see each other again, they experience a whole new kind of heartbreak.

excuse me?????  they had survival training ???  they ate rats??  as part of the school curriculum???

this whole thing is a ride but ‘this academy works in tandem with the fire army’  and ‘students study fire nation history, undergo survival training and forage for food in the wild’ are the highlights.  I figured military education and history was part of the training but.  wow.

Exclusive: Avatar Aang era console RPG and world of Avatar MMORPG video games in development

I have some huge news for you today: an ATLA console RPG and an Avatar MMORPG are in development at undisclosed game studios in collaboration with Paramount’s Avatar Studios.

Not just that, but these are just two games of at least four in development, including a Square Enix mobile game announced last year, and at least one other game; and at least one of all of these games will feature the original ATLA characters recast with new Asian and Indigenous voice actors– “voice matches” of the originals. (Just to be clear, this is for voice acting in video games, not live-action acting in the Netflix show.)

These have been in development in secret for a pretty long time now, and they’re coming… much sooner than you think, that’s all I can say. For the first one, “RPG” is a vague descriptor; it could end up overlapping with other similar action-adventure genres to varying extents– I don’t have details on gameplay or anything like that. I’m guessing this could be where the ATLA characters could show up since based on the info I have, voice casting took place at about the right time in development– but again, it could be in any of the video games. For the MMORPG, I don’t know what platform it’ll be on or if it’ll be related to the console game.

One last thing is I can more-or-less confirm that the reason there was no Avatar Studios movie/show info at the Paramount event this week is because it was indeed just too early. But… I think it was literally just as bit too early, that’s all I’ll say for now!
