For the Anon who had a bad time with a breeder - all this blog's advice is really sound! Another option is keeping an eye on the rehoming pages of breed clubs. I don't know how common they are in the US, but in the UK I spent a lot of time looking at the Bengal Cat Club of Great Britain's rehoming pages - they had 1 for owners who had to rehome as well as for breeders who were retiring a breeding cat or rehoming a cat who had been returned (my girl is a retired queen).

I just ran into the rudest Bengal breeder ever! It made me wonder if you, being a Bengal blog, could recommend any breeders in the US?
I am sorry you had a bad experience. Unfortunately a lot of breeders can have a bad attitude. Some breeders wont allow people who have never owned a bengal to purchase from them either, which I can understand, but there are nicer ways to go about it.
I am sorry but I haven’t done much research into reputable breeders in the US. I got one of my bengals in Florida and one in California. One was a decent breeder, the other not so much, but I got great kitties out of both of them regardless. Both of them have retired their breeders.
I woulds suggest firstly looking for a local bengal rescue in your area. Just google “Bengal Rescue” and your city or state. I follow them on facebook and am constantly getting updates on bengals that need homes. Rescue bengals are great for homes with no other pets or kids. And getting an adult bengal, if you are a first time bengal owner, can make getting to know the bengal personality traits a little easier. Bengal kittens are little fluff balls of terror let me tell ya!
Unfortunately you just have to do a internet search and then call around and talk to them. You will encounter rude or brash breeders but keep in mind they should have the best interest of their kittens at heart. Also prices will be high $800-$2000 is the average price range for these little leopards.

hi, I've recently adopted (found in the street) a kitten that seems to have slightly asymmetrical markings. a friend joked about him (kitten) looking bengal. i didn't care before but now I am curious. am 100% positive he is not a pure bengal but am curious if he could have some ancestry (he seems to be quite large for his age and has a distinctly energetic personality)

How cool you found a kitten that might be part bengal! It’s entirely possible! The breed has become much more popular which will result in more bengal mixes out there, especially on the street if people are not taking proper spay/neuter precautions.
