The Scars I Live With is an upcoming 18+ Interactive Fiction that will deal with dark and possibly disturbing themes such as slavery, discrimination, mental and physical abuse and others. Please keep this in mind before interacting with this game.
You were a kind monarch once. After your mother’s brutal reign, you thought your people needed respite. Evidently, they didn’t think the same since their bloodthirst only increased. Three years after your coronation, your mother’s favourite consort dethroned you with the army and the clergy’s support.
As you fled from the palace together with your spouse, from an arranged marriage celebrated only three months earlier, you were found by slavers. You managed to save your spouse but not yourself.
Four years later, your spouse finds you, though you’re not the same person they knew. You are not changed in spirit alone, however, for your magic grew in your captivity and now you’re unbound. When the crown chose you as its owner, you wanted peace for your kingdom. Now the only thing you crave is revenge.

Naja (M/F/NB) - your spouse
Given up like cheap cattle, they were considered slow by their own family, a pretty doll but irredeemably dumb. They started talking later that any of their siblings and in their teens they stopped altogether. It was clear that they were offered to you in the hopes to appease you with their looks while lacking any other use.
During the brief time you two spent together, though, you have discovered that they are not slow at all but rather intelligent and very observant.
They are 1.64m tall with dark bronze skin, black luscious straight hair cut to their shoulders, dark brown doe eyes and a slender built. Naja is 27 and selectively mute.
Valaahr (M/F/NB) - the druid
A very ambitious druid, a wolf in sheep’s clothing who strives to become the head of the clergy through every possible mean. Some speculate that power will never be enough for them, for they hunger for more to satiate their thirst, to see the corruption finally extirped.
A ruthless schemer, Valaahr is certainly a force to be reckoned with, fortunately only devoted to their faith and to you – the one they believe to be the rightful monarch.
They are 1.79m tall with light brown very long wavy hair always kept in a single braid, light grey eyes, a very pale skin and a toned built. Valaahr is 32 and suffers from albinism, with the sight problems associated.
Kaela (M/F/NB) - the negotiator
They are nobility - a good politician though known mainly because an illness in their teen years left them physically disfigured.
They might come off as stand-offish and aloof but they really are quite soft-spoken and considerate for all they are direct. There is something about them, an exhaustion that lingers and eats at them, accompanied at the same time by an undying tenacity that always prevented them from giving up.
They have short wavy auburn hair, green eyes, olive complexion and they are around 1.83m of height. Their body type is on the heavier side, soft but with muscles underneath. Kaela is currently 31 and they keep their head veiled and their hands covered by gloves to hide their scarred body.

Fallon [M | F | NB] — The Alpha
The prospective Alpha of all of Lunaria isn’t precisely who you expect upon meeting them; though you aren’t quite sure what you were expecting. With a deeply protective nature, Fallon seems like the perfect fit to become the ruler of Lunaria. They don’t seem to hate you, upon you meeting them, but they also clearly don’t trust you. However, they treat you with more respect and dignity then you were expecting. Could anything more possibly grow from the arrangement?
Appearance: Fallon stands at around 6’6” with steely blue-grey eyes and light blond hair. Their lightly tanned skin is always accentuated by the simple tunics that they wear; normally in forest green or earthy tones. They have a strong, muscular physique that exudes with power. (M!Fallon has his hair to just beneath his ears, F!Fallon has hers to her shoulder blades, and NB!Fallon has theirs just brushing their shoulders.)
Wolf Form: Their wolf form is a monstrous bipedal beast that towers over you. Blond fur covers the muscular physique of their body, and far too intelligent blue-grey eyes peer out at anyone that comes across their path.
Sasha [M | F | NB] — The Sorcerer
A grumpy individual that you meet upon your first day within Lunaria. You’re not sure what exactly has made them so moody, barring the story behind the clear scars— almost like claw marks— peeking out from their collar. They seem to lighten up whenever they’re around Fallon, but a thunderous air seems to always follow them no matter what. Will you be able to uncover what lays beneath?
Appearance: Sasha stands at around 5’6” with closed off forest green eyes. Dark auburn hair accentuates the olive tone of their skin; something that’s always clothed in the long sleeves of their robes. They have a delicately slender body that hums with their magic. (M!Sasha keeps his hair short, F!Sasha has her hair brushing her shoulders, and NB!Sasha has theirs to their jaw.)
Nico [M | F | NB] — The Vampire
The closest thing that you have to a best friend. A person that’s always been by your side since you could remember. Nico may be a horrible flirt, and isn’t known to taking anything too seriously, but you know that for the people in their life they care for, they’d do anything for them. Which is why you’re not surprised when they tag along on your trip to Lunaria; though they cite it’s because they want to see a new place. Will you be able to get them to settle down?
Appearance: Nico stands at around 5’11” with expressive hazel eyes. Dark brown skin accentuates the onyx black of their hair perfectly. Though it may seem cliche, they’re commonly seen in red to make it a bit easier for them to be seen. They have a lithe body type. (Nico keeps their hair to just past their shoulders… This goes for all of them.)

RO reactions to a MC who's very affectionate and doting in a relationship? Think hand holding, cheek, forehead and lip kisses sneaked away, surprising them with their favourite food, massaging them after a long day, etc?
Also how am I supposed to choose 1 RO? 😭😭 They're all so great ❤️❤️❤️
Arthur/Artura/Artur: They’re the exact same way. They’d turn into a big puddle of sap if the MC were to do the same thing for them. “I want you to know how special you are. How much you make me happy.”
Frey/Freya: They’re used to you being a sweetheart, but they wouldn’t be used to being doted on so heavily. It would be something they’d have to get used to, but they’d return the favor in spades because they want you to know how much they appreciate it. “Emotions, real emotions, aren’t easy for me to express… But, I know I care for you more than I’ve ever cared for anyone.”
Lancelot: It would definitely take them a moment to get used to it. They’re very reserved and suddenly being doted on would make them tense. Not because they don’t appreciate the gestures or dislike that the MC is being wonderful… it’s just something they’d have to get used to. “Thank you for being patient with me… it means more than you could ever know.”
Morgana: She’d be waiting for the other shoe to drop. She’s not used to be doted on or loved without their being an ulterior motive; unless it’s by her sibling. She’d definitely be tense about it for a while until she realized the MC was truly acting like that because they cared for her… not because they wanted her guard to lower. “I know many things, dearest one. I’ve always strived to learn more and more because I hate the unknown… Love has always been something I’ve never understood. Something that always seemed just at the edge of my grasp. Until you.”
Percival: It would just cause him to ramp up his natural inclination to dote on you too. He’d hold it back at first because he wouldn’t want to alarm you, but knowing you’re the same way? Everything is fair game at that point. “How could I not do all these things? It’s my way to show you that you’ve made my life so much better.”

💗 GROWING HEART - if they have a crush, is it noticable? what changes when they're in love?
For everyone please.
Arthur/Artura/Artur: It's very noticeable. They won't know how to properly function around you. Stumbling over their words and getting lost in thought whenever you're nearby. When they're in love? They at least have the reprieve of being able to kiss you.
Frey/Freya: It's fairly noticeable because they start flirting a bit more and with a bit more passion. When they're in love? They'll simply stare at you with soft eyes.
Lancelot: It's not too noticeable unless you know what to look for. They start distancing themself from you even more because they don't know how to deal with the emotions you awaken within them. Once they're in love? You'll have a loyal knight by your side.
Morgana: It's not noticeable at all... Morgana just "happens" to find you more and more. You'll be helping her out with things that she normally doesn't need help with, etc. When she's in love? You'll find little notes scattered around Camelot that only you'd be able to find. She's also a lot more open with her affection.
Percival: Pretty much, because he'd bluntly tell you if he had a crush on you. Why would he want to torture himself without knowing when he could simply ask? When he's in love? He'd be even more open about expressing his love for you.

💙 BLUE HEART - do they miss their s/o easily? how do they act when their s/o isn't around?
For everyone?
Arthur/Artura/Artur: They'd miss you like crazy. They hate when they need to be away from you or you from them. They get quite despondent and look longingly out the window. Hoping that they'll catch a glimpse of you.
Frey/Freya: They're a bit more brazen than normal. Are able to get people angry at them with better proficiency. Ultimately, they're a terror without you nearby. They absolutely hate being separated from you for long periods of time.
Lancelot: They get a bit tenser. Always on edge as if they're waiting for the other shoe to drop. Letting you in, allowing you to see a special part of them, makes you sort of like a lifeline to them. They hate being away from you, but won't get too jittery unless you're away for long periods of time.
Morgana: If she wished to see you then she'd simply transport herself to wherever you were, but if she couldn't do that (for some reason)? She'd keep to herself a lot more. Sticking to the shadows, where not even A could find her, and wait until you'd return to be by her side.
Percival: He'd get despondent. He doesn't like not having you by his side, but he knows that the trip was super important to you so he'd never tell you not to go. That doesn't mean he has to like you being away for long periods of time. He'll write you tons of letters just so you can know how much he misses you.

💢 ANGER - what are some habits they have that will take some getting used to?
For everyone?
Arthur/Artura/Artur: Doesn't tell people when they're having issues. When they're starting to feel overloaded. As they don't want anyone else to shoulder the burden they have by wearing the crown.
Frey/Freya: Has a habit of speaking before thinking. Fortunately, you have gotten used to this quirk of theirs but it'll definitely be amusing to see the Camelot Cast get used to it.
Lancelot: It takes them a while to open and up. And even after they have they'll close up again if given the means to do so.
Morgana: She closes in on herself when she's feeling stressed. It's a time when it would be better not to mess with her at all because she has things she needs to work through.
Percival: Can sometimes be a little too overbearing because he just wants what's best for everyone. Sometimes he doesn't realize that less is better in certain situations.

BUT YO - is it cool to ask how RO's would react to the MC sneaking up on them to give em a surprise kiss on the forehead or cheek? I can't imagine L or M getting caught slackin tho so would they let the mc sneak up on them? Im already creating headcanons 💀

Arthur/Artura/Artur: When it comes to people they trust they’re not on guard at all. So, you’d definitely be able to sneak up on them. They’d simply pull you into their arms and press a kiss to your cheek in return. “You gave me quite the fright, darling, but the reward was more than worth it.”
Frey/Freya: Would sort of be used to the MC sneaking up on them to do whatever it is they wished to do, but they still always get surprised by it for a split second. They’d simply laugh and teasingly say: “You better start running, because the moment I catch you I’m not going to let you go.”
Lancelot: It depends if they’re tired or not. When they’re tired, coupled with being near someone they trust, they’re not as on guard so you might be able to sneak up on them. They’d simply smile at you indulgently and place a kiss to the tip of your nose. “What a wonderful surprise, dearest one.”
Morgana: You’re correct. The only way you’d sneak up on Morgana is if she allowed you to do so, and if you were close with her she’d definitely let that happen. Morgana would simply swing around and tug you closer to her by the waist. Violet eyes twinkling with gentle amusement and adoration. “It seems I’ve caught, my love. Whatever shall I do with you?”
Percival: He’d jump and clutch his chest, but the moment he saw that it was you he’d smile so wide you’d think his jaw hurt. He’d give an excited whoop and crush you against him and swing you around. “I was wondering where you were! I’m so happy that you found me instead! I was starting to get lonely, I missed you.”

Is the route of F angst? Because imagine them falling in love with mc and them laughing at their flirting, thinking they are joking around.
All of the RO routes, to some degree, have varying levels of angst within them.
You wouldn’t be too far off with what you imagine. Although F might also be a bit oblivious that they’re being genuine too (so they don’t understand the hurt that twinges their gut once you walk away).

Completely! That’s more how Astrid leans. She’s not terrible at combat per se but she’s definitely not a honed warrior like Leif is.

Four Important Side Characters:
Guinevere and her twin brother Lucan. They live within Camelot as there’s a rumor of Guinevere becoming the Queen of England, but you can tell that she doesn’t wish to be here. In fact, she seemed to be only in the walls of Camelot because of her sense of duty. While Lucan usually spends his time either in the library or within the training grounds. He came as his sisters personal bodyguard and the weeks of being unable to move seems to be taking their toll.
Leif is your older brother that would protect you until his last dying breath. Even if you’re not related by blood that doesn’t mean a thing to him. You’re his little sibling and he’d rather die than cause harm to you. While Astrid is your cousin (she’s not related to you or Leif) that always keeps you on your toes. Her family being close to the Jarl has given her the opportunity with both of his children (and get to be called cousin). You don’t know where you’d be without the two of them.

Could the MC do magic?
No. If you had Morgana draw a rune onto you then you’d be able to do magic somewhat, but it wouldn’t be like what Morgana can do and it takes time to make said runes.
