Caravaggio paintings light something in me <3
This one is probably my favorite:
“Judith Beheading Holofernes”, 1599
Personal description of the painting:
In the painting three persons are shown. The young lady is a savior of her people. The man, a general (Assyrian); and the elderly woman, his servant. Judith (the young lady) was on a mission to save her people by involving herself with the general. Although powerful, once drunk, the general could only do so much. Judith succeeded in seducing the general, only to have him fall in her death trap (femme fatale🤨) He is shown being beheaded by his own sword by her. On the other side stands the servant. The elderly woman holds open a sack to carry the decapitated head. The servant’s bloodthirsty demeanor, Judith’s will, and the general’s confusion and shock are what make up Caravaggio’s painting.
