36TH CHAMBER (2018) – 36th Chamber is a b-boy crew that embodies the story of hip hop going full circle – from the Bronx to Beijing. Like many of the early American hip hop pioneers from the 1970s, 36th Chamber is deeply influenced by traditional martial arts & Chinese culture. At the same time, they’re conscious of hip hop's history and its roots in the struggle of Black America. This was a piece I shot for Goldthread. It wasn’t originally intended to be a part of this project, but looking back, it was definitely an extension of it.

DUST TO DUST (2017) – If I had to pick the b-boy crew that best represented the Shanghai flavor, Dust Breakerz would win hands down. Although they're no longer active under the Dust Breakerz name, they made a significant mark on China's hip hop history for the better part of two decades. Dust to Dust is a short documentary that I shot with the crew in 2017, one of the last chapters of their story. (Youku)

B-BOY IN SHANGHAI, PLANET ROCK EDITION (2014) – B-boy in Shanghai is China's largest breaking competition, attracting thousands of the best b-boys and b-girls across East Asia and the world to compete, exchange, and celebrate under the banner of hip hop culture. In 2014, American hip hop pioneer Mr. Wiggles introduced the event with a message about Afrika Bambaataa's vision that hip hop would go beyond its ghetto New York City roots to become a positive force in the lives of young people across the planet. Event organized by Shanghai’s Caster Dance Studio. (Youku)
