I turned a previously but not currently occupied apartment lot into a community lot. My game crashed when going to neighborhood view. I have no recent backup of the neighborhood.
According to the Sims Wiki, using the changeLotZoning this way might corrupt a neighborhood. Does anyone know if that's true and why?
Got bored and made a new sim for Driftwood. Behind the Name rolled the name Angustias María de los Dolores, which literally translated to English, means "Anguishes Mary of the Sorrows". The game would not let me use such a long surname, so named her Angustias de los Dolores, which loses the biblical context but whatever.
She's a family sim. I don't know what to do with her, but for now, she lives in a tiny apartment and works at the circus. She met Dickson Long, the townie, who apparently has friends there. His statement rings empty considering Angustias hasn't even been to her first day of work yet.
So, just for fun, I loaded my game with the original (not clean) Strangetown, and sent Ajay to the two community lots to scan for fingerprints. He found a lot, mostly from playables, townies and NPCs, but also from deceased sims, both ancestors and Olive's victims, as well as global NPCs like the Grim Reaper, Hula Zombie and Pollination Technician. And also a lot of empty thought bubbles, which I assume are from invisible NPCs like the ones that move the control remote car.
Possible conclusion: These lots have been visited before the game launched, I made sure to ban every sims and critter from the lot before the scanning. We know Maxis probably deleted a lot of sims from Strangetown during development, so maybe their fingerprints in community lots were assigned to whichever NPC or deceased sim took their ID. Please correct me if this is not how it works.
Random thing I found interesting: Brenda Zaidi, one of the mail carriers who's buried in Olive's graveyard, has fingerprints all over these two community lots, and also on the trashcan of 91 Road to nowhere, the residential lot where I moved Ajay.
Bonus pic of a possible location of The Vidcund Accident.
I've been using this trick of combining the M&G ceiling fans with the small base game lighting fixture.
First I enable the move objects on and quarter tile cheats. With this fix and Lamare's Shiftable Everything, I shift the light down four times and place it in the middle.
Unfortunately the grey part turns black when shifted down if it's on a foundation, because of the lighting mod I use, but it's not too noticeable since most of it is hidden by the fan.
And, so the ACR-induced cheating starts. That blonde guy is a married (monogamous) playable. Actually, his family was kind of boring to play, so I don't mind.
Well, here we go again. Between the height difference, the fake eyelashes, the glitched face animations and the camera deciding to appear behind the window, these cutscenes are very janky.
Besides that, I put a little more thought in these characters and gave them traits, favorite colors, LTWs that match their stories, etc. More on that later... some day.
I changed the interior layout of the asylum. The main thing bothering me about this was the placement of the stairs, it made no sense and the top floors were only accessible through a tiny ladder. I had to extend the top floors a little to make room for the stairs and elevator, but it doesn't change the look of the facade.
After accidentally loading the asylum challenge neighborhood without cc, I decided I'm going to restart it in Driftwood, my custom neighborhood. I'm going to have a busy semester irl though, so I won't post as often.
