A bunch of these were growing in the grass, unsuspecting, but upon picking them, each mushroom was very unique and beautiful in its own way. These were conjoined at the base, giving a weird appearance. This mushroom throws me off because it is clearly white-spored BUT it has what appears to be a cortina (the little fibers on the stem) typical of the Cortinatius genus, which has cinnamon-brown spores. It took me awhile to ID this after finding it several times but it is Tricholoma fracticum. I’m new to Tricholomas so I hope to become more familiar with the genus

Mad scientist thought of the day:
I bet you could gene-edit a chicken to make its eggshells out of mother-of-pearl.
They’re both made almost entirely of calcium carbonate, plus stabilizing organic proteins
Mother-of-pearl gets its iridescence from the specific structure, helped in part by the scaffolding of the specific proteins
I bet you could do it
I bet you could even do different colors and varieties
Pearl eggshells.
