25 - South Carolina - she/herCollection of memories and future adventures about what I love most. Nature, hiking, camping, gardening, cooking, music, and the occasional selfie. I love talking, so I love messages! 90% of my pictures on this blog are from the Carolinas!
Over the years I’ve seen a lot of really cool things on the boat. Yesterday, we were in the ocean and this leatherback sea turtle swam by. Of all the things- this is the best one. What an amazing moment to experience.
Mental health issues will have you wrapped up in bed agonizing over how badly you want to go to this soft serve ice cream place to get vanilla with wet walnuts and crushed graham crackers. The place is literally 5 minutes away. The agony has lasted for about 2 hours now cause you can’t gain the will power to get up and actually go.
Made an educational video about SC shells for work today. I grew up beachcombing with my mom and grandpa - they were and still are avid shell hunters. So, I’m sharing the love here. Ima talk to yall about shells today.
I was tagged by @wookieeoftheyear to list 5 topics I can talk on for an hour without preparing any material. Don’t mind if I do!
1. South Carolina Wetlands: This is a topic I am particularly passionate about. I often joke I bring a “don’t fuck with the wetlands vibe to the function some people don’t appreciate.” But I can give you a lecture on the importance of swamps, floodplains, marsh creeks, you name it!!!
2. The native trees of the SC coastal region. Specifically, Live Oaks, Bald Cypress, Loblolly, and Longleaf pines! My dad is a forester- so by default I know a lot about SC trees. When it comes to the ones I listed above, I love them so much, and they make me very happy and I can go on and on.
3. Ethel Cain lore. No album does it for me like Preachers Daughter, and I LOVE to talk about it.
4. Currently. I love to talk about how fucked up my life and brain got in Greenville. No one asks, but everyone hears about it. Maybe that’s just called venting.
5. PCOS - Having been diagnosed at 19, I had never heard of the disorder before. I had to learn a lot about it through trial and error. I’ve seen a lot more about it recently, given it’s a very common thing for women to have. Often times, the conversation is only around the ability to get pregnant. It took several doctors to find one that took the actual sickness serious. Cause you know… I guess the only value I have is my ability to have kids 🙄 who cares if feel like dog shit all the time. But if you don’t have good symptom management, life absolutely sucks - so I love to share and relate to others who have dealt with similar problems, and share any methods that have helped me!
I tag @appleatcha @norman891 @socalledmixtapelife @asweetapology @lowcountry-gothic @w00dchips and whoever else! No pressure to participate!
Figs have been popping up on the tree, I now have some citrus that I’ve added to the bunch. The herbs are doing well, and my leafy greens have been doing so well in the box!
These late summer days have welcomed plenty of rain, which means the resurrection ferns beautifully cover these old live oaks. One of my favorite scenes welcomed me as I enjoy the campsite.
