I love that this was the cover shot of the photo series. I don't miss the show (those last two seasons vexed me sore) but I miss the cast and their bts goofs. What a bunch of good eggs.

Tiktok channels run by people who whack rocks open to reveal ancient ammonites, or high-speed-saw rocks open to reveal crystal geodes and agate bullseyes, or chuck rocks into electric tumblers and forget them for a month only to suddenly yelp "OH" and go spill them out, gorgeously polished and colorful, into a kitchen colander. And don't get me started on the people who do MIXED CRYSTAL CONFETTI SCOOPS *bites hand*

Peanut butter yogurt. As in yogurt + honey + a big spoonful of peanut butter. Comforting enough to bring tears to one's eyes. Speaking of which...

Reruns of M*A*S*H. My spouse and I just sit and hold hands and bawl at Radar O'Reilly's eternal surprised Pikachu face. In fact, I think it's the other way around-- Pikachu actually has a surprised Radar O'Reilly face, fight me.

The Docs app on my phone. Every morning, I get in my car, open a new untitled document, hit voice record, and RANTRANTRANT all the way in to work. Then I never open those documents again. I don't WANT to know what I said. Whatever it is, at least I'm not saying it to customers or coworkers.

The very idea of the Appalachia "Hey". Google it.

A few in fandom may remember me as That Person Who Swears By Their Ancestors That Aidan Has Heterochromia (eyes of two different colors, as shown below).

To justify my admittedly ENDLESS BLEATING about it, I gathered and studied numerous photos of Aidan, which - as you can guess - was extreme torture which I would never I say NEVER want to repeat. I made a point of looking for photos which showed actual human "flaws" - pores, scars, blemishes, lines and frown-furrows - over things that looked like they'd already been through the retouching factory, because I figured those would show something simple like iris color in its natural state. There were plenty of samples to reap. At one point I decided to run them through Prisma, which basically reads color, shadow, and form and re-expresses them in different simple yet funky art styles. I wanted to see how this particular tool picked up on the possible difference in color, such as in this sample:

Remini, though. Remini makes me deeply uncomfortable. The weird, silicone-like, pore-free skin smoothness it generates for all subjects is icky, just icky-- ESPECIALLY for a hairy beast like Ya Boy. The stubble looks sponged on. It "fixes" things like the grooves between his eyebrows and the lines on his forehead (which we ALL know come just as much from laughing as from It's Just My Face syndrome). And it DOES turn those brown/green eyes blue. Weird blue. Electric blue. Aryan blue. Horrifying. But most disturbing of all - at least to me - is that it erases the wonderful humanity of his eyes. Sameness is not perfect. Variation is the soul of life. And Remini is nothing but an ambassador from the Uncanny Valley.

People have really gone rez'd up crazy. Is this the Remini thing that I see others bitching about? All of these shots are so weird and smooth and plastic looking... I don't get it. I have an app to dial up photography if needed for print but it's terrible for faces unless you're only jumping a bit on an already hi-res shot. And so many go gaga over it... like do you have eyes and or taste? They're everywhere and it doesn't even look like the person anymore... can't they see it? Sigh.
