CONCEPT
Although my title sequence may come off as simple or child-like, I lthink it’s actually quite nuianced, alot of thought went into the layout and presentation of my project as I tried to replicate the straight forward aspect of Kent’s work. Kent was very hands on with her work so I tried to stay out of the computer as much as possible.
Therefore, everything you see in this video was cut out of paper. Everything.

For my research I used Corita’s website. It was super helpful to understand how I wanted to tell her story in my promo video. It also gave me cool insight into the progression of lher life and her work as well.

I like this one quite a bit, what I can take from this is the style consistency.

For my title sequence I chose the book Skin Tight, I read it this past summer so it’s still fresh in my mind and it’s the type of book you read and pass off to a friend and it travels through many hands quickly since it’s a fun quick read. I think it was adapted pretty well into my style of art and I’m pretty stoked with how it turned out. Although I linked many title sequences for inspiration in the end the real single inspiration was what I had gotten out of reading the book and the colors and images I recalled while reading it. I’m happy with how it turned out and it really showed me whats possible with after effects. I did not like the idea of using after effects at all in this project but by the end of it I can say I’m pretty damn comfortable in it, at least manipulating and maneuvering how to animate my hand drawn images. That was also the biggest struggle, jumping from animating simple shapes to a 1 minute 30 second title sequence completely drawn by hand. Overall, huge learning experience, pretty proud of it, if I had a few more days I could have taken it to a whole new level.

I thought BB kings Thrill Is Gone would be a perfect song for this video since it is an iconic blues song and would fit with the mellow paced video but has it’s moments of anticipation

The book I’ve chosen is Skin Tight, It’s a gritty book about deception, blackmail, crime and barracuda’s. The book is set in Florida and I think could make a fun hand done title sequence.

color test on some underwater items. I want to keep the color pretty simple, A little bit of dimension and light taken into account
