hot artists don't gatekeep

I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard

Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.

Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.

Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.

Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.

SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.

SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.

Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.

Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.

Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.

Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.

Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

Hey! If you don't mind me asking: what's romance like in FF7?

Despite being an avid shipper, I always loved that FF7 didn't rlly push Cloud into any explicit romance and kinda loved projecting onto him, but I've been hearing a lot of talk that the remakes seem to be pushing for a canon ship route.

I didn't really mind the date options or anything in the og game, but I liked that u could p much opt out of it if u wanted to. Is the vibe the same in the remake???

i didn't actually play the game myself, only watched a full playthrough online, so i don't know everything about that game, but from what i have seen, if you're selective with what sidequests you do, the gold saucer date can be manipulated to who want.

However, Tifa's date is explicitly romantic and most of the others are just platonic (I havent seen Aerith's yet so idk how romantic it is), and you HAVE to do the date to progress the story, so it's not something you can opt out of if you get Tifa?

Besides that, the Cloud/Tifa and Cloud/Aerith stuff is more subtle, but I guess I can see what people mean when they say it feels like it's pushing a bit more romance. I do think it's fairly easy to ignore/read a different way though if you're not into it lmao.

With ff7 specifically—I also have gone through the last 30 yrs of it existing without any knowledge of it but i only just started the game and now finals are coming up :/ i imagine theres some others in a similar predicament as the remakes are still coming out… sorry if this is an annoying ask

highly recommend checking out 1997 ff7 if you enjoyed rebirth! it's got a switch port for i think fifteen usd and it is so so charming. the graphics are about what you'd expect but it really holds up

Completely unrelated to absolutely anything but I got your blog recommended in that 'because you follow [tag]' section on my dash, and your little About thing was shortened to 'FYI feel free to write/draw' and reading that gave me the weirdest burst of motivation I have ever received. 10/10 experience; I think that took a hammer to my artblock and shattered it even if it wasn't the intended message lol

I know you have all probably seen the esims for gaza posts circulating. Some of you have probably looked at them and thought maybe you should help out, but have weighed up the daunting process of signing up for something you're unfamiliar with vs. the gut-wrenching scale of the things people are going through on the ground right now, and you've put it off or questioned whether it will make enough of a difference vs. some other future kind of activism you could put that $6+ towards. I'm not calling you out or scolding you, it is natural to feel conflicted and ambivalent about the multiple calls for aid that you are seeing on social media.
