.........what???
What are the visions of that result from using a Sun-Stamped Mirrorcatch Box? There are references to a "March Bureau" and a "December Office" and a reference to a lord who "was one of the Lords who opposed the revolution. His vote sent troops into Cheapside." Other than being linked to the Calendar Council, I have no idea what to make of these visions. Perhaps what will follow the Liberation of the Night? Or a look at an alternative future if London had not fallen?
Moonlight-laced sunlight causes visions of an alternative-universe London, where the city never fell but was instead taken over by a Revolutionary Council similar to the Calendar Council in Fallen London.

But then I succeeded in making a exceptional short story, at 60% chance, on my first try, so it’s worth it!
Now time to become an author! Although there’s something defiant about being a journalist in this day and age, what with the Captivating Princess and all...

Fallen London Journals, Day 22: Raven Advisor
So! I found out in the bazaar that acquiring a Dazed Raven Advisor leads to a storyline. Ravens are cool, so I want to get one.
Problem is, I have two characters. Which one should get the advisor?
For faction pets, W. has the Bandaged Raven already. F. has the Taciturn Mynah - which you can put on your shoulder and pretend is a raven advisor.
Hey, ravens are cool.
Anyway, this indicates W. should get the raven - they would have two ravens - one bandaged black surface raven, and one white dazed raven advisor. It wouldn’t make sense for F. to pretend her taciturn mynah is a raven advisor when she also has a real one.
It turns out that a dazed raven advisor is a reward for the Trickster profession, which is a natural profession for W. But W. - although they are a thief - is a Journalist instead. W. could switch to the Trickster profession, then switch back, but it’s probably just cheaper to buy.
But just to be sure - let’s look up what the dazed raven advisor can do, to see if it’s a good fit for the type of resources each character needs.
...
What. A Dazed Raven Advisor can evolve into either a Dreamy Raven Advisor or a Wary Raven Advisor. That’s amazing. Both my characters can get one.
This is great. Viva la Ravens.
In other news, both F. and W. are in need of some wine - Greyfields 1879. Yes, the cheap one. F. needs about 120 more to get into the Shuttered Palace, to continue her Nemesis ambition. W. needs about 300 more to curry favor with Mr. Wines (as well as about 150 drops of prisoner’s honey). Yeah, they could just buy them, but...
There’s a storylet in Wolfstack Docks that gives you Greyfields 1879, but F. doesn’t have access to it anymore because she slew the spider-council :(

Akechi, the shadow of Persona 5
I haven’t played Persona 5., but I’ve been looking into it for story reasons. I respect Persona a lot, because it speaks to a lot of themes that I have an affinity for - but it could be better. Ugh.
Anyway, I’ve been looking into Goro Akechi, because from the way I see it, he seems to be the character who really ties together the theme of the story.
I’ve gathered together some of my favorite excerpts about him from Reddit:

So goddammit. He’s certainly a Vriska (Homestuck). Or a Light Yagami.
The writing I found that I most liked was from tumblr, this one.
A braver story might have given more to this character. But he gets an essentially tragic ending that’s kind of a footnote. If you didn’t like him you would have missed the tragedy.
(I could go on about the redemption-through-sacrifice/sacrifice-through-tragedy deaths that these kinds of, well, egotistical characters necessitate. These characters, in general - do give me the impression that, the author doesn’t quite know what they’re doing with the character. Perhaps that’s part of their appeal.)

Fallen London Journal, Day 14: The Starveling Cat
F. sent W. a partially unwrapped cat and...that’s not the one I wanted!
Apparently the thing can only be used to hurt yourself...should I send it to a seeker? ._.
In other news, W. successfully executed a con on a spirifer. Now they have 10 brilliant souls...perhaps they can figure out the secret knowledge that the devils don’t want them to know? Not that W. is interested, but for F., in her stead?

Fallen London Journal Day 13: Degrees of Inhumanity
My characters will henceforth be referred to as F. and W.
It turns out that the mysterious iron box W. has received belongs to Mr. Stones, one of the Masters of the Bazaar. He sent two Clay Men to retrieve the box, but W. wants to see what’s inside - especially if it’s a bunch of Glim, gotta pay off the Keen-Eyed Lapidary after all - so they will run. Right after they improve their Shadowy by stealing a few paintings and picking a few pockets.
W. has also found the time to publish their first short story, and chose to get renown with the Bohemians. W. has also been invited to the University to speak as someone who understands the minds of “criminals and other vermin.” Apparently the students were entertained, but not the professors.
F. needs Whispered Hints to mount an expedition, and has lately figured out that talking to the Topsy King of Flit will grant 66 Whispered Hints. F.’s first expedition will be financed by the insane ramblings of the beggar-king.
F. has taken to killing random Rubbery Men lately - apparently she thinks they’re an abomination. (Although she has been known to defend Rubbery Men from humans who harass them. Maybe she doesn’t like bullies. But murder is fine. Shrug.)
On the other hand, F. feels an affinity for Clay Men, starting with the Clay Coalman from Watchmaker’s Hill. She lately took a request from them to deliver some statues, whom they call the “unquickened.” “Their spirits are absent,” they say.
Well so - Clay Men are automata like MyRoids or Rozen Maiden. And Feigher is the MyRoid owner, after all.
If Clay Men are automata, Rubbery Men are aliens. Octopuses. Rubbery Men are intelligent, but incomprehensible. Whereas Clay Men are comprehensible, but not necessarily intelligent or alive.
And as F. likes Clay Men and dislikes Rubbery Men, W. likes Rubbery Men and dislikes Clay Men (especially now two of them are coming after them).
There’s a third faction - but Tomb-Colonists are human, just dead. (There’s an opportunity card that gives you the option to pervert the expressed love of a Tomb-Colonist for a lady, for the purposes of publishing a story. W. won’t do it out of respect for the dead. F. won’t do it out of respect for love.)
Anyway, W. is quickly approaching the point where their Pickpocket profession will not be helpful. They will have to gain the connections to become a Journalist soon.
