A test mini mask with holographic nail powders, holographic vinyl sheet, and a paint job to try to enhance the effect. Painted it at night between two bigger jobs, and forgot to post it ! They’re defects because it’s a test with a bunch of techniques mashed together, but I’m happy with the result anyway.
Acrylic paint, glossy varnish, nail powder, vinyl, on a polyurethane mini mask.
hi! just curious--how did you accomplish the leafy mane on the shida suit, where did you get the artificial plants from? does it not fall apart? obviously you dont have to answer, I just found it really neat and would like to do something similar on a costume of my own
Hi!
I bought the artificial plants online, I searched for something that looked good, sturdy and water/sun resistant. I paid a lot for it and in retrospect, I’m pretty sure a lot of them could have been bought from wish for a fraction of the price.
I hand sewed the leafs and vines one by one on a fake fur mane, so I have lost a few when my knots weren’t good enough but not much. It’s not very fragile, I took it on convention and stuff without problems.
Short version: searched for good shit, took the time to sew things, and tadaaa
Hello!! Your masks are beyond gorgeous! Do you have an Etsy or sell online? 😱
No, sorry! It’s not my main job, I did that gallery to have all of them in the same place for when I want to show them. But anyone is welcome to contact me by dm if they want.
Howdy I may have missed this on your blog but how much do the masks you make cost? (Like base price I suppose before additional design costs if they apply) thanks!
Hi!
You didn’t miss anything, I just didn’t made a post about it because it’s not something I do for a living and I can’t legally promote this, make price posts etc.
This tumblr is mainly to have a relatively clean gallery to show when people ask me about costumes.
To answer your question, a rough base (to cut and sand yourself) would be 65€, a ready to paint (cut and sanded) base, 100€, and a finished one would start at 200€. But I do them from time to time, the best thing to do would be to explain to me what you’re interested in in a dm, if you want !
hello! i saw your shida costume and i absolutely loved the design!! would you be okay with me posting some fanart of it (with full credit to your design of course)? absolutely fine if not but i just thought id ask!
I would love to, please let me know if you do it, I want to see ! :)
Your stuff is absolutely incredible!!! I wanted to ask, are you okay with people using your images as profile pictures with credit to your blog? They are beautiful but I don't want to steal or anything!
Thank you very much !
Well, a lot of these are made on commission and are owned by other people who probably wouldn't be really happy to see their masks used by other. You can do that with the leafy one if you want, it's mine. The commissioned ones, I don't think it's a good idea, sorry !
your shida suit is absolutely breathtaking. I gathered you’ve done commissions for the kitsune masks (correct me if that’s incorrect) but do you do commissions for the gloves/the rest of the suit? I’d love to wear that kind of outfit, it looks so cool!
If not that’s alright, love the outfit!
Ih !
Thank you so much !
Yes I do take commissions for masks, sometime manes and tails too, I could do gloves (but that's the worse to do and I don't like it) but the outfit isn't home made. I did the bell necklace and belt using vintage curtain ropes and stuff from flea markets (I could make some accessories on commission but it would heavily depend of what I can find). The top and pant are regular top and pant (But I commissioned somebody for a hakama) and the haori is a gift a friend brought back from japan (the same friend behind the camera for these shot in fact ^^)
The gloves are made like these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWqs_w6fVfg but with fleece instead of lycra, and the claws are made like fabric fursuit claws.
For the outfit itself, I know some haori/hakama sewing patterns can be found on the net if you want to do it yourself, or these can be bought I guess. Hakama are used in aikido for exemple, so you can find some among martial art supplies.
