Talk to me about robot characters all day. Does Rosco have any body modifications, aesthetic or practical?
OOh excellent question! I think my favorite of his aesthetic modification is how his eyes work. (sorry I cant show the diagram yet, still working on his ref sheet) but basically his "eyes" are empty, shadowed sockets with a camera lens set deep in the back to do the actual 'seeing'. However! he DOeS have laser pupils that are only for aesthetics! they can change color and shape and are made by small lasers set near the front of the socket projecting *back* into the shadows of the socket.
The side effect of doing his eyes this way though is that no matter where you are standing, it will appear as if he is looking to you, similar to how fursuit eyes work!!
Also...
he CAN use the lasers to make the entire socket light up so he looks extra spooky with demonic glowing eyes, but he COMPLETELY blinds himself to do so! (aesthetic flashbang!)
At some point in your life, you were taught that being slightly annoying is an unforgivable sin. Maybe it was by your parents or a teacher or a friend or a bully or an older sibling. But someone taught you that being slightly annoying is a crime punishable by death.
You must unlearn this.
You must accept that all people will be annoying at some point or another in their lives, maybe all of their lives, and that this is okay. It is okay for strangers on the bus, it is okay for children in the grocery store, it is okay for people on social media, and it is okay for you.
If you ever want to truly love your fellow humans, if you ever want to truly love yourself, you must have forgiveness for being annoying.
btw with art when people say 'youve got to do it scared' 'youve got to draw bad' 'youre not gonna know how to do it until you do it' it sounds like bullshit but its true. 90% of art is just getting over the fear that it's not going to be good enough to deserve to be made in the first place. but you're here. you're alive and, with no need to justify that, you're going to make art. it's just part of being alive. you'll spend so long worrying you aren't doing it good enough that you'll look back and realized you didn't live a single day of it.
yes he will be one of the main characters of a book i will write in like FOUR YEARS. robot fantasy/scifi/mystery called (at the moment) IN DEFENSE OF THE ANARCHIST
just wanted to let you know that I absolutely love ur art of horrible monstrosities being silly n soft, it brings me so much joy, peace and love on planet earth
Awh thank you so much!!! I feel the same way about them.
I think some days we all feel like the horrible monstrosities and showing that even such creatures deserve a bit of soft as a treat soothes those inner beasts
not to be That Person but when people are like “why isn’t there a big fandom culture anymore?” umm…
maybe this is why???? That an author can spend hours (if not days or weeks or months) on something, have 1,800 people read it, and only have THREE people willing to take a few extra seconds out of their day to comment. Not even something as simple as “thanks for sharing” or “second kudos” or “❤️”
I’m not the internet police. You decide what you do with your time. Just don’t be surprised if the result is that creators leave your fandoms. I’m not writing to scream into the void. If that’s what I wanted, I wouldn’t bother posting. Fandom is a community. It’s an exchange of enthusiasm over this thing we all love. And who’s gonna keep showing up at your house with a goodie basket if all you do is take the basket, slam the door, and leave them outside to watch through the window while you eat?
