"No matter how famous you are or how much money you make you'll never be as important as the ocean." A time was had visiting Puerto Vallarta for a destination wedding. The views were beautiful. The food was fresh. The weather was amazing. Something about the ocean will always bring peace. If you are looking to relax this is a good city for you. If you are looking to party it might not be your favorite. I will also warn you many people seemed shocked by such a big group of Black people. We had requests for pictures, etc.... it got weird. I enjoyed a quick dinner date with the kiddo at Macanda in Wayzata. We shared an appetizer of guacamole and chips. The guacamole was fresh and had a good "zing." The chips appear to be fried right on the spot and are very crispy. Almost too crispy for the thickness, but I would get it again if I ever went back. We settled on the chicken tacos with the sauce on the side. I'm happy I got the sauce on the side because it was HOT. Way too hot for my liking. The chicken was seasoned well and the fixings paired well. We also had short rib tacos. These were the most filling of the two taco dishes. There was a pretty good amount of meat on each taco. The meat was seasoned and very tender. I ordered the chicken tacos and preferred the short rib and my daughter ordered the short rib but preferred the chicken. Good thing they are shareable. Here are our key takeaways 1. There are not many taco options if you are not big on spice. 2. The tacos come 2 per order. There's no way my husband would have been able to just have one order. It was fine for the two of us, but three would have been better for the price: 3. They share a building with the popular 6 Smith so parking may be tricky on a busy night. 4. The ambiance is cute and cozy with fireplaces and lots of greenery. 5. If you are looking for a traditional meal or are a picky eater this is probably not the place for you. One of our favorite bakers is creating new items in the kitchen. Michele from @doughpcreations is now creating goodies using Kernza. She is working with Carmen Fernholz, the first to grow Kernza in MN, and has also partnered with the U of MN for various testing of the product.   Kernza® grain is harvested from intermediate wheatgrass (Thinopyrum intermedium). This (cousin) of annual wheat has been grown throughout the USA to provide fodder for livestock. Now intermediate wheatgrass is being domesticated as a grain for human food. Intermediate wheatgrass can be grown as a “multi-functional” crop, yielding various commodities as well as ecosystem services. Kernza was in the sourdough wheat bread and the maple bars we tried from her and we loved it. The maple bars were our favorite.
