I suspect a lot of people here read stories on Wattpad.
Dreame is similar in concept.
BUT.
Dreame has been attempting to headhunt writers from Wattpad. Sounds good, right?
Nope.
One writer was offered a $60 advance…to sign over the RIGHTS to his book. They’ll license the print book rights back for 30%.
Please do not sign with these people as a writer.
And please do not give them money as a reader…they are either a scam or just completely clueless. Either way, you’re better off sticking to Wattpad and tracking down writers you think deserve money to pay them directly ;).
oh my god, this is the most exciting ask I’ve ever been sent in my entire tumblr career. this is gonna be a long one.
ok, there’s a little x on his elbow, quote “my old best friend Larry Hinkle and I decided we would be “brothers” and both put these “X"s on our elbows when we were about 12 years old” [x] and the Black Flag tattoo, mentioned in the same article, that he says he did when he was 12 or 13. either or these could be considered his first tattoo.
the next is ONE of the John Bonham tattoos that he said he gave himself when he was 16, but described as looking like a cigarette had been put out on his arm- this is known as ‘what’s up with the little black square on Dave Grohl’s arm,’ because if you mess up, you just draw a box around it and fill the whole thing in, right?
this was followed by a second three-circle Zeppelin IV tattoo on the other arm done by a dude in Amsterdam with a tattoo gun made out of a doorbell mechanism. Oh, and then there’s the one on the other arm directly above the little black box that inherently just got there at some point. [x]
(see: Led Zeppelin shoulder 1, Led Zeppelin shoulder 2, Led Zeppelin cigarette burn, faded little Black Flag, and Led Zeppelin wrist, see below:)
the three-circle logo wrist tattoo dates back to his first Nirvana paycheque when living in Olympia, roughly Feb 1991. (I’m inserting the following photo because the stencil is sitting right there on the arm of the couch and that’s a cool piece of history) :
NEXT is the one on his left inner arm that showed up sometime between the 27th of October 1991 at the Palace in Hollywood, and the Live at the Paramount show on the 31st. there’s a million photos of the October 27 show, and in all of them you can see the little blue wristband…
(that one, hangin’ right there) that he was wearing in the photo taken when the tattoo itself was being done
let’s say that one was done in Hollywood on October 27/28, 1991.
then there was this little gem in late 1993 that was first seen mid-December 1993. he flashed the tattoo to Kurt Loder and talked about how he was getting married. aw.
this one was followed by the myth, the legend (see below) done by Lal Hardy in London between (I’m guessing) February and May 1997. the heart happened somewhere around the same time, and was given a little halo a couple of years later (2000? 2001?)
and also around the same time, the chest tattoo was covered up and turned into the tribal tattoo. no one knows whether the neck or chest came first, but I’m kinda inclined to believe the chest was first.
and everything was chill for a couple of years (1997 must’ve been exhausting y’know?) until he recorded with Queens of the Stone Age on Songs For The Deaf and celebrated drumming again by getting the tribal arm tattoos in 2002, and then he eventually had them coloured red in 2003 (progress photo, cause I like those)
years and years later, he got inked again (a very cool and exciting time). The feathers were done May/June 2010 by Kat Von D- they were first spotted during a Them Crooked Vultures gig in early June. most people either love them or hate them. I really like them, for what it’s worth; they’re kind of a grownup DG signature in my eyes.
(how FINE was the Wasting Light era though? damn right). Most recently (mean, as far as I know??) was the Something From Nothing ‘in the end we all come from what’s come before’ infinity tattoo, also by Kat Von D, that was famously used as album promo material - but here’s a photo just in case.
how fun was that? I said it’d be long. thank you, and I love you.
I had to pause the show and take a breather to prevent myself from crying.
Abuse isn’t always physical and it is just as damaging. It is so refreshing to see a show tackle so many types of ways children can be abused because it is so much broader than constant physical abuse or being negligent, and I have rarely seen it addressed in media.
