Soon (part 7, the end)

Eddie’s first day back with the 118 is amazing. Buck has his partner back by his side and he never wants to let him go again. He spends the whole day smiling and everyone comments on it. He wants to jump up and down yelling, “He’s back! He’s back! He’s back!”

Instead he focuses on trying not to kiss Eddie or hold his hand or any other PDA that might get them in trouble. The important people know that they’re together, but they had to do a lot of paperwork promising they wouldn’t compromise any calls over each other. Bobby may or may not have personally sat Buck down to warn him that if he caught them playing “Buck 1.0” he wouldn’t hesitate to punish them.

As easy as it seemed to promise Bobby that there’d be no hanky panky at the station, it’s a lot harder when the first thing Eddie did this morning was wake him up with the best blowjob of his life. Every time he looks at Eddie his cock throbs with the need to be touched again.

Now that they’re having sex, it’s become like breathing to him. Touching Eddie and being with him physically is like second nature. They complement each other in so many ways and Buck has never laughed during sex so much in his life.

He hadn’t know that sex could be more than just sexy. That it could be joyous and loving and funny. Now that he knows there’s a million new ways to feel he wants them all.

But a promise is a promise and Buck refrains from dragging his boyfriend into the closet or bunk room or any other private place. The only thing he can’t control is how he looks at Eddie. Every time he looks his way he sees that hunger staring right back at him. He sees the love in return and it makes him giddy.

This is where he belongs. With his chosen family and his boyfriend and helping people. The calls are more fun too. He gets to walk into each situation knowing Eddie is going to be right there beside him. Where he belongs.

He thought at first it’s be weird with Lucy, but she simply greeted Eddie with open arms and a remark about how Buck can finally stop being so intolerable. Eddie laughs in response and Buck smacks his arm. He only smiles in response and they move on from there.

Time passes quickly and soon they’re off shift and headed home to Eddie’s. Buck hasn’t officially moved in yet, but it’s only a matter of time. He holds each moment in his heart and feels truly loved for the first time in his life.

He thinks about the road it took to get here. Losing Eddie from the team, helping him with therapy, taking care of Christopher together. It all adds up to pieces of a perfect life. The only thing missing is a ring on their fingers, but Buck knows that will happen when it should.

Until then he hides a small velvet box in the back of his dresser drawer and thinks to himself. Soon.

Buck turned to see Eddie stood there, his eyes not quite meeting Buck as he handed out a package. Raising his brows, Buck reached out cautiously, taking the box in his hands, letting his fingers brush against Eddie’s for longer than was necessary.

“What is it?”

Eddie gave that stern look of his, the one he usually reserved for Christopher when it was time to put the video games away, the man crossing his arms together. “Just open it.”

Ok Eddie; keep your secrets.

Buck took out his pocket knife, using it to cut the tape off before putting it back in place. He carefully opened the package, shaking out the contents into his hands. After pulling off the bubble wrap that surrounded it, Buck took the item into hand, instantly noting its’ sturdiness.

“You—you bought me a clipboard?’”

Day 7: "Free Choice" - Soulmates

It takes Maddie until bedtime and putting him into her own bed for Buck to finally ask why Maisy’s dad grabbed his arm like that and stared at the mark on his wrist. Because that’s what he was doing the entire time. Maddie sighs that one sigh she always has when she has to explain something difficult to him.
