So at some point after you've been doing your t shots for long enough they're just background noise. Like they do not register anymore as anything more intense than taking a pill. Usually when I write Ed I'm imagining he's been on t for decades and it's impossible to overstate how much of a non-issue his shots are for him because he's so used to this little part of his life.
But I do not think that Stede knows this.
And I believe that every single week, without fail, when it's time for his shot Ed shows up in Stede's line of sight, his body language conveying a desperate need for comfort and affection. And he's like "heyyyy...can you give me my shot? I'm scared it'll hurt 🥺"
Of course, Stede gives him his shot, it's fine, Ed acts like he has to hide his face in Stede's neck anyway. Might whimper a bit for dramatic effect. And this is entirely in service of getting some pity cuddles afterwards.
There is no place Ed would rather be than in Stede's lap while Stede tells him that he was so brave and did such a good job, and not to worry because he's safe now and Stede won't let anything hurt him. Just getting absolutely coddled. Pouting on the outside but inside he's positively purring.
This happens every single week and it's the same level of production every single time.
