It's very much a "task failed successfully" moment
That said, being useful to humans isn't always "the most wildly advantageous strategy on earth" in the long term, especially for plants that can be turned into monocultures. They tend to do very well for a while but it's a very precarious position they're in
Still probably more advantageous than discouraging animals from eating you (because you're unlikely to actually be entirely one monoculture, and it's unlikely disease will completely wipe every trace of that monoculture out) but it does have significant downsides
"Isn't it weird that [thing humans commonly eat] is poisonous to literally every domesticated animal" I mean, there's a pretty good chance that [thing humans commonly eat] is at least mildly poisonous to humans, too. One of our quirks as a species is that we think our food is bland if it doesn't have enough poison in it.

They asked me if I knew anything about theoretical medicine. I said I had a theoretical degree in medicine!

surely no one in academia cares at this point
You must understand that historians are not allowed to cum unless they're calling someone a crackpot fraud.

it is tempting to assume btw that harry is "the most mentally ill man in the world!!!!" or whatever, but he's probably the average level of mentally ill for people in his situation. he isn't this uniquely monstrous wreck who abuses more substances than anyone else ever has. in martinaise alone you can meet like 5 people who are doing even worse than harry. kim says several times that he's seen much worse than day one harry and i BELIEVE him. i think harry wasn't immediately fired from the police after the unsolveable case bc this stuff is relatively normal for cops to do in precinct 41. disco elysium isn't pointing at harry and going "gawk at this uniquely awful man for no reason!! isn't he horrible in a clowish way!!" they're making a point abt the effects of capitalism and imperialism on the disenfranchised poor

But there was a period of friction, when “hello” was spreading beyond its summoning origins to become a general-purpose greeting, and not everyone was a fan. I was reminded of this when watching a scene in the BBC television series Call the Midwife, set in the late 1950s and early 1960s, where a younger midwife greets an older one with a cheerful “Hello!” “When I was in training,” sniffs the older character, “we were always taught to say ‘good morning,’ ‘good afternoon,’ or ‘good evening.’ ‘Hello’ would not have been permitted.” To the younger character, “hello” has firmly crossed the line into a phatic greeting. But to the older character, or perhaps more accurately to her instructors as a young nurse, “hello” still retains an impertinent whiff of summoning. Etiquette books as late as the 1940s were still advising against “hello,” but in the mouth of a character from the 1960s, being anti-hello is intended to make her look like a fussbudget, especially playing for an audience of the future who’s forgotten that anyone ever objected to “hello.”

And then I looked into modding the history of ck2 (which had the same system) and realised extremely quickly why Paradox rapidly abandoned it in favour of only a very small number of discrete start dates actually being supported (even if others remained accessible at that point)
While I understand why, it’s a pity Paradox will never do anything like EU4’s start date system again, because I remember downloading that game and being delighted just to have a world map I could scroll through by date and watch borders change. Even as a limited, gamified world map, being able to take in a global view of different historical eras is super cool if you just don’t have a lot of context for some eras in some regions.
There’s that guy on Wikipedia who does those schematic historical maps, but they’re a lot less detailed and at much broader intervals unfortunately.

Let us suppose that the "average" horse would have equal proportions of all these parts. The degree to which each part in this poll deviates from the "average" size (20% of total) will determine how large or small that part of our horse will be (i.e a horse with only 10% in Legs will have legs half the size of the average horse).
I will draw a picture of the horse we make!

the second funniest thing about the whole "does mario feel pain?" thing is that the actual source they have for "nintendo's" "official statement" is that someone asked tezuka if mario feels pain and he said (paraphrasing) "what. why are you asking that. it doesn't matter if mario feels pain"
