∟Horse Breeds A-Z: Appaloosa Sport Horse
“ The Appaloosa Sport Horse was created in the USA with the intention of creating a European style sport horse with the bold appaloosa coloring. This cross was achieved by crossing Appaloosa coloring with the athletic qualities of Trekehners. The result is a beautifully colored animal, larger & with finer lines than the original appaloosa.” - The Equinest

Do you have any suggestions for anxiety before cross country at an event? I've been riding for 10 years and used to be invincible, now I become an absolute nervous wreck, and there was no event that "started it". I'm simply at my wits end, any ideas?
Hi! Sorry, I’ve been absent for so long. I think a little bit of anxiety is normal, it’s part of the adrenaline! But I tend to take a lot of time (if I have it) to warm up and calm myself a little bit. Also, going over the course in your head and having someone there with you can be a big help. I tend to get really nervous myself as well! I hope this helps!

I made it onto my school's English IHSA team this year in the Novice division because I've ridden for a while, but never competed in ranked, recognized shows. I feel like I'm not as good as the other girls and that the coach doesn't like me because I'm having a harder time with our traditionally western horses and their quirks. I've taken lessons for about 10 years (never owned) but I feel so scared for practices. How can I feel more confident with the coach, and riding in general? :(
Ah!! Sorry, I haven’t been on in forever. Congrats for making it! That’s an awesome accomplishment in itself. Just because you don’t compete doesn’t mean you’re not a good rider. It doesn’t take showing to do well! It’s the love, passion, and practice that matters. It’s tough to do but when you’re having trouble dealing with a horse’s quirk you have to be patient and calm. Think of taking deep breaths. As for the coach, I would try and have a talk with him/her and tell them what you feel like you’re struggling with. A good coach will be receptive towards this and help you work through it! Best of luck to you
