Humanity has finally found a way to communicate with crabs, we realize they're smarter than us. Now that they know we know, what are they going to do?

Obviously as a crab I can answer this. We’re gonna go to war and win! Humans have trashed our habitats and dig up our sand, hell they even pick us up sometimes it’s extremely violating! Their society is doomed to fail someday and we shall be the catalyst for its doom.

That was my thought process two days ago before I saw her, a friendly human by the name of Jade who came to study the sea life around me. At first I was gonna curse her or maybe pinch her for good measure a good way to tell someone to screw off in my opinion. However, something was different she never disrespected the sea, she was smart with her communication getting everything right she even let me vent to her at some point she was so kind!

The problem is I cannot have this friendship, my father is the general of the crab army and is drafting my fellow citizens to take down the humans, but I don’t want this I want to live a happy life with Jade and the humans that respect the sea, I want to listen to the things humans have to say and explore the world away from the sea.

This is wistful thinking though as war will begin tomorrow, the poor humans have no idea that their civilization is doomed and there’s nothing I can do to save Jade from the impending crab society that wants her dead.

In another life maybe I would’ve been better and stopped my father from letting this become, from letting the world fall into ruin, however I am not and I never will be able to see what humans could’ve brought into the world had we crabs not been so angry all the time.

Hello! It’s chatfic logistics time!

Yes I did accidentally take days tying to fix the plot hole in my master plan named Karnak but I digress.

Today I’m gonna both explain this AU and hopefully get the first chapter out :D

Ok so as I said for clarification this is an AU I don’t think this would work any other way unfortunately and with the AU comes some different details.

This takes place in March-August 2021

They’re all sophomores to juniors here because I have no idea how to write senior year

Karnak is a ghost that Ocean befriended in freshman year, he haunts one of the abandoned classrooms and she visits him often which is part of the plot

Talia is also a ghost in this school but Mischa doesn’t know she exists or that she’s a ghost, instead he is being catfished by Noel who also doesn’t know Talia the ghost exists but used the name after hearing it in school. I wonder what she thinks of this.

I dunno if there are canon ages for the characters so in this AU’s ages are as follows

Ocean is 15

Noel is 16

Mischa is 17

Ricky is 17

Jane/Penny is 15

Constance is 17

I did t know whether to use the name Penny or Jane so I chose to use Jane for now if this changes for any reason I’ll be sure to let you all know in advance

As a Jew I never went to catholic school so I’m probably going to approach writing this like public school

This is where I will post the fic as I don’t really have any other platforms aside from Wattpad to do so so I’d you want me to post it there just lmk and I’ll get to it!

I am currently writing out the general details of the chatfic I’m making atm so while I do that and question my own sanity because of a certain sassy fortune teller trying to make it make sense I bring you me being music oriented.

I understand that legoland exists and I’m almost ignoring it because yes I am going to give her a turning red song I have no regrets. Ok I have hAD IT there is not enough content for rtc so I’m putting my hcs out here now with all the chaotic energy I have in me! This will def have more than one part.

also yes I will be talking about them as if they lived because somehow my brain will not let me think they died.

-Ocean’s motivation for joining the choir was glee. She liked it I’m middle school and joined the choir from there and yes she does probably love Rachel Berry

-If the story took/takes place around now I swear that Jane would be a Phoebe Bridgers fan there’s no reasoning for this except a playlist.

-Ricky would be a total anime and video game lover, now you may be like wow just because of space age bachelor man. No there is no way you can convince me that this man would not dig anime, or video games I just know he would like something like Subnautica with the space elements. Oh god I feel like he’d love markiplier.

-Mischa and Noel having movie nights yessir!! 100% Mischa listening to Noel talk about his favorite movies and plays and being never judgmental.

-On the other end Noel letting Mischa chill with him while his parents are particularly mean>>> They support eachother ur honor.

-I like to keep it ambiguous in my head on whether Talia exists or not but ya know that’s up for interpretation.

-Picture Jane having to ask Constance or Ocean about some of the genuine tomfoolery the boys get into. I have choir kid stories and the boys are hectic take it from an alto who sat by the tenors. Yes there has been prop fights change my mind.

-Mischa somehow knowing what Ricky wants to say..has this gotten him in trouble possibly more than once because ya know Ricky did t say it but Mischa just knows. He also happens to know everything about the school via Ocean.

-Yep Ocean is a gossip I’m sorry someone had to say it it’s true and I’m not taking criticism send tweet.

-Constance and her family putting pride flags outside their cafe so it’s inclusive to all unknowing that this meant a lot to a certain Noel.

-At one point Mischa tried to teach Ocean to swear and not only did it not work but there’s a jar in the choir room full of a certain boy’s quarters. Yes Mischa swears like a sailor I know this because I am Slavic and I know Slavic boys and how sometimes creatively they swear.

-Jane, Ocean and Ricky are neurodivergent i don’t make the rules.
