“They really do, it’s just so difficult to find a job a lot of the time so I understand. Back home I also worked at a small one in the city though, so that definitely helped my chances. It just makes going to work a whole lot easier. You’ll have to text me sometime & let me know when you’re headed to the park. I live really close. I always pass it and I so want to meet Bruiser. He still sounds way cuter than the name gives off.”

“I can understand that feeling, definitely. I’m glad to hear that you’re happy where you’re working. A lot of people settle because they need money, which I totally can understand, but it’s always wonderful to hear people finding a job and it being something they love. It’s a double win. The free coffee is as good as it sounds - trust me. His name’s Bruiser, and you totally have to. We spend a lot time at the park so if you ever pass that way, we’ll probably be there.”

“Don’t sass me. You’ll regret it when we’re watching something you hate. Also... How do you feel about Disney?”

“Oh pardon me, ma’am. I was mistaken.”

“I’m choosing to take the first part as a compliment. Not that I owe you an explanation, but the cat’s not even mine. It’s my sister’s & has been here long before I was, thank you.”

“I have to be. What do you think this is my first movie marathon?”

“Oh you are prepared. I got it.”

“I love books, I was so excited when they called me for an interview. It can get a little dull when things aren’t moving but I’ve been introduced to so many amazing books. The discount is always another perk too, and free coffee sounds wonderful. Aw, that’s so sweet! What’s his name? I need to meet him soon.”

“You work at the bookstore? That’s awesome, and seems quite fun. Especially if you like books. The extra cash is always a plus, definitely. It’s mainly the reason why I got one, but also the free coffee - or the one cup I get per shift which is always enough. He is! He really, really is. I love him.”

“Jess Ricci, she’s a couple years older than me. She’s super talented — I’ll let her know, but I’m sure she’d be down. What do you like to paint?”

“Who’s your sister? Maybe I could talk her into taking photos of my paintings. Make them look real beautiful and extravagant.”

“My sister’s a photographer so I can sort of understand the trouble. I’m sure she’d like to take a look at some of your work, though.”

“Looking to purchase some artwork? I’ve got some radical pieces for sale. Think of it as helping your community artists survive. It’s a cruel, cruel world.”

“That’s awesome, part-times not bad, that’s what I’m doing at the bookstore too. It’s nice to be able to enjoy your summer but also make a little cash. Aw, he must be the cutest!”

“Thanks, Emma! The local coffee place, and it’s just part-time but that’s what I wanted so it worked out. And I got an Alaskan Klee Kai, or basically a mini husky… Sort of.”

“Perfect. That’s all you need to bring, other than yourself. I already have a movie line up.”

“Bag of skittles got it. Gonna remember that.”

“That’s so exciting, Teagen! Congrats! Where did you end up finding a job? And what kind of dog did you get?”

It’s only Tuesday, but so far this week I’ve gotten a dog and a job… So I’d say it’s been a good week. I could be getting ahead of myself, though.”

“Perfect. I have this memory of my mom baking brownies a lot. Baking was like, her thing. I could try that out maybe I’m just as much a natural as she was. Alright, on Tuesdays we’re housewives. I’m down. What book should we start with Mary Alice?”

“Yeah? Alright, let’s do it. We can meet on Tuesdays and everyone will be required to bring, like.. house food. Whatever mum’s cook. We can give each other suburban names, too. I’ll be Mary Alice. You can be Betsy.”

“Hopefully. I thought you might like that idea. Those words are music to my ears. I expect a bag of skittles please & thank you.”

“He’ll get over it eventually. Sweatpants I can do. I’ll bring over some junk food too.”

“I’ve tried so many things, I think he’s just pissed I’ve moved in, oh well. That’s a good idea, maybe he’ll want to watch them too. Also I just want to hang out & watch movies. By the way, it’s sweatpants attire.” 

“Have you tried getting him a toy? How about I take you up on the movie offer so then when I come over he’ll see that you aren’t sitting around on your own. Problem solved.”

“Apparently, it does requires some attention. You’ll get it next time, for sure. But maybe for now... No more living organisms that require attention?”

“I heard a cactus was supposed to be the easiest plant to take care of, since it stores water so long and you never really have to pay attention to it. Maybe I’m not ready for this sort of commitment.”

“Yeah, that’s too long to be confined in a flying metal death trap practically strapped to a stranger, I believe it. Car rides are the best, it’s more spacious and you can really just do whatever you want and pit stop if you need to. Where did you come from, if I may ask?”

“It was almost four hours. See, I love four hour car rides– you can stretch out, rock out to some music, just relax. But four hours next to some weird Scandinavian dude who was suspiciously secretive about his iPad isn’t as relaxing.”
