Sorry that this blog has been slow to answer new questions and goes through these active spots followed by quiet! Honestly, I see myself cutting back on how much I use this blog until I get the next update ready. My CiE energy has just been very writing- and planning-oriented for the last few weeks; that creative energy is finite, though. Especially since I'm working again (boo), I'd rather pour that energy into the game itself than the dev blog.

So, yeah. It'll be quiet again aside from the simplest of asks for a bit, but I'll return with news!

Y’all in the American SW and west Mexico better check the national hurricane center and your weather for this weekend and next week.

Hurricane Hilary is about to make landfall and that whole desert area is supposed to get a years worth of rain or more. Death Valley is supposed to get twice the annual rainfall. Severe winds, massive flooding, and landslides are all strong possibilities.

This is gonna get ugly. Please spread the word. This is a majorly anomalous event and people may be unaware of the threat headed their way.

not really sure how to start this but in the past few days maui has been devastated by wildfires caused by a dry summer and the high winds of a passing hurricane. at least 36 people have died and over 270 structures, homes, and small businesses belonging to kamaʻāina have been lost.

many people who have evacuated have lost everything, and are left with only the clothes on their backs, so every little bit helps. please keep sharing news and encourage others to help where they can.

if you can, please consider donating to organizations like the Maui Strong Fund, Maui Humaine Society, Maui United Way, and the Maui Red Cross (write 'maui wildfires' in your donation).

sharing some recent images that have come out in the aftermath, since it's hard to understand the scope of devastation these types of disasters bring, especially for our small islands so far away from the mainland.

I find the idea of a dnd campaign with Kile, R, Vi, Curt, Mc, and Jack incredible funny because I just cannot picture that group hanging out together, I would pay good money to see how they would interact and play it's just such a funny idea to me I don't understand why.

That really is a very fun and unpredictable group 😆 R and Curt are both agents of chaos liable to make dumb decisions and flirt with everything just to see what happens. Vi always takes games too seriously and I can imagine them being genuinely upset when group antics permanently affect their character... and Kile just wants to kill and fight things, with way too much faith in their odds.

How Jack would handle a group like this, I have no idea 😆😆 And how all the potential New Kids could affect such a group, oh god

Are the Emerson twins genuinely close? Like, are they truly fond of each other or is it just a sibling obligation?

They're close! They're just Emersons 😅 so sometimes it might not look that way or seem questionable. Especially when they find themselves on conflicting sides of an issue, usually meaning Curt is stirring the pot while Heidi is trying to resolve things — very easy to assume they don't like each other or have some sort of rivalry going.

The two of them do mostly get along, though, and rarely get into real fights. Both of them have learned to avoid the topics that would start one, like religion or their parents. You'd only know when they're actually mad at each other if you're close enough for one to vent about it or if you manage to catch on to their mutual silence treatments.

Other than that, though, these two Emersons are quite close and supportive of one another. Not very common in their family since Emersons normally make their kids compete against each other.

oh well actually, I have a few blogs. too many one could say 😆😅

but yes! I have another blog dedicated to very specific references I like for characters, settings, coding, and writing for this game. and another one for general aesthetic references — things like settings, time period, user interface. Pinterest is decent for that kind of thing, but I'm not about to add to the Pinterest theft problem by making pins of Tumblr posts. The private blogs are better for expounding on my relevant thoughts and plans anyway!

Yes, I did! I also said Marcus has been wanting to date Brooke for years, the cheerleader that has been into Curt for all that time. So yeah, there's layers to this resentment of his 🤣
