oxygen by ellis nightingale
It's quiet here between the trees
and I can almost feel
the weight of all the centuries
begin to crack and peel.
I breathe and rebreathe oxygen,
what was and what will be.
And for a moment, as I walk,
it's just the earth and me

Three Pounds of Stardusts ~ Ellis Nightingale
I'm aching and hoping and quietly dreaming like stars wait to fall. To shoot. To fly.
And all the while you're living, breathing, underneath a static sky.
I'd fall for you, I'd hurtle willingly, careen into the moonlit ground.
I'd pulverise my bones for you so that I might be the dust you found.

“Decembers are for dreaming of all the things to come. Just turn towards the eastern sky, that’s where the sun wakes from. You’re at the end but what lies next is all that you will be. So close your eyes and wait for dawn. The future’s yours, you’ll see.”

You know Ellis, you are a very lovely poet. I would like to pick one of your poems, but I really love each and every one. My opinion would be to write a book and include each one, leaving none of your work out.
Here is just one that is lovely to me~
“I know a place beyond that hill where we could stay a while, and shelter from the autumn chill, and sleep till we’re not tired. We’ll lay our hearts down close enough to keep each other warm, and share a dream of violet fields, and wake to see the dawn.”
That means so much, thank you for the feedback! Alas, there have been a few casualties in the editorial process but I just wanted to make sure I didn’t sacrifice anything that would be missed *too* terribly... You’ll see soon!

This sky is everlasting and I’m at least a quarter dead. Immortal to the mayfly but fleeting to rest of things without a heartbeat: the trees, the rocks, the sea. I wonder what this old earth thinks when it looks at me.

Update: Followers, if I were to publish, which poems would you *absolutely* want to see in print? Let me know your favourites here.
Will you ever create a poetry book? I just admire your poetry so much. I hope you do!
That's the eventual plan.

“I want the rain to fall again, the clouds to tear apart.
I want a storm to kill the sun
and stamp the birdsong out.
I have no use for honeyed days when the air is thick and still.
I want for all the days I’ll spend embraced in autumn’s chill.”

Tell a better story than the one you were once told. The words are yours, and yours alone, from now until you’re old. Tell a better story—tell it well and tell it true. The beginning was all written but the middle’s up to you.
