DUDE as someone studying genetics, the medical field FUCKS UP when it comes to people with cognitive differences.
When I was in high school I learned about Turner Syndrome (where people only have one X chromosome instead of two). “Mental retardation” was a defining characteristic. In college, my (really horrible) human genetics professor said the same thing. Until she brought in a guest speaker.
This dope ass female researcher pointed out the absolute inaccuracy of the statement. People with Turner Syndrome have a weakness in their spacial ability and particularly struggle with maps.
THATS. IT.
There is nothing stopping them from getting an education like everyone else. She was particularly proud to talk about her patients that are doctors, lawyers, or PhD holders.
Fuck you, old school science.

Tormented Update
Some of y’all have read my horror Saku/Ino fanfic Tormented. It was supposed to be done literally forever ago but shit happened. Anyway, I redid the existing chapters to better reflect my skills now and get better reacquainted with the story before I finished it, and the final chapter is coming along well.
But now I’m stuck.
There is a scene in the final chapter that I am debated about removing, but I’m scared to do so? I think it was pretty well written and interesting, but I have NO idea if it will come across that way to readers. My concern is that it will feel disjointed and out of place, not adding to the backgrounds/motivations of the characters and instead taking away from the story.
Do y’all have experience with this kind of thing? How do you decide what stays and what goes?
I don’t have an editor and I’m hesitant to ask anyone due to having been burned in the past by people with zero editing skills who were just sweet and eager to help out.

She DID IT and we help her file a restraining order against him and it has been SERVED.

I made it through my first round of 4 week classes with TWO MOTHERFUCKING As!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These are two classes I had to retake and got D’s in (because I had emergency surgery mid-term) and I got my high-ass GPA back!
Monday starts my second round of 4-week classes.
I am so tired.
