Beauty Routine After Depression
After a wave a depression, you might find that you’ve not just abandoned a beauty routine but basic hygiene as well. Even the simplest task may seem like it’ll take too much energy so it’s best to take little steps before getting back into your full routine: 1. Brush your teeth well -You might find that you’ve lazily brushed your teeth or you haven’t done this as often as you’re supposed to. To get back on track, take a few minutes to properly brush your teeth, use floss, and even toss in a bit of mouth wash. Note: your gums might bleed 2. Take a shower. Wear a shower cap though. -Taking a shower may seem like too much energy, and you may have already been showering. However, it can sometimes be neglected when you don’t get out of bed for a few days. Focus on what’s important, and skip the hair to keep this at low-level energy. Use a scrub instead of loofah, to get your dead skin off. Make sure to go over knees, elbows, behind your ears, and your feet. (I hate to sound like your mom but I gotta.) You can go ahead and skip washing your hair or shaving. 3. After your shower, moisturize your body. -No details needed. Just get your fav lotion of moisturizer.  4. Skincare sheet mask. -Wow, you’ve already completed so much but let’s get back into the skincare. Pick out a sheet mask, and watch your favorite show. Once your show is done, you’ll be done as well.
5. Trim your nails. -You ain’t gotta make them pretty but trip your nails (toes and hands.)
6. Night cream. -You don’t have to follow-up with your typical routine. Select your go-to night cream, and call it in for the day. You did great! I hope you feel better, and start incorporating the rest of your routine back into your life.

Michelle Phan’s 2018 SkinCare Routine
Michelle Phan disappeared for two years, and returned to society with a Webtoon, a new EM cosmetics, and amazing skin. Although, it was unclear at first why she left, she posted a video to explain what happened, little did we know it’d be her last. She became depressed and overly stressed from having to deliver constant content for her Youtube channel, she was running a makeup line that she wasn’t happy with, she was having legal problems, and she had the wildly successful Ipsy among many other projects she was trying to juggle. Finally, she had enough, and hopped on a plane to Egypt to clear her head. Since she’s been back, she’s mentioned several times that she stopped wearing foundation and heavy make-up. In 2017, she was a surprised guest at a panel in KCON and she mention her diet and micro-needling contributed to her glowy make-up free skin. Fans have begged for a video on her skincare routine, and it’s finally here…kind-of but not really. A few of days ago, Michelle posted her current routine to Instagram.  I should have taken screenshots but instead I wrote things down like some sort of primitive beast. Some of her products are on the pricey side, but her first three products are fairly affordable. Anywho, here’s the list in the order of her routine with links on where to purchase: 1. Dr. G Brightening Peel Gel LINK 28 USD
2. Neogen Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling Lemon LINK 27 USD
3. Neogen Real Ferment Micro Essence LINK 38 USD
4.  Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 Original “1970” LINK 269 USD
5.  Yoji Lab – B3 Youth Potion LINK 179 Canadian
6.  Valmont Prime Renewing Pack LINK 180 USD

Actual skincare tips
- Your skin might not necessarily react well to using too many products on it. I personally find my skin looks better when I have just cleansed and moisturised it once daily rather than toning, applying tea tree oil etc. every morning and night.
- Contrary to what a lot of self care threads claim, but drinking water may not be the holy grail of skin care. Yes, drinking water may improve your skin, but chances are, it won’t clear it completely.
- Never pick at spots, as this may increase the inflammation and leave a scar.
- If you wear glasses, clean them regularly. The left over oil could cause a small breakout.
- This has been said too many times but remove! your! makeup!
- Always try to buy a sun protective moisturiser, or at least apply sunscreen under your makeup, even if it is cloudy out.

How to Smell Good All Day
Take a shower at night and in the morning
Use a body wash that’s more like a vaginal cleanser on your vagina. Using a scented body wash on it could upset your pH and cause odor.
After that, use a body wash on the rest of your body.
Always use deodorant
Use powder in places that usually produce a lot of sweat and cause chafing, such as under your breasts and on your inner thighs
Use feminine wipes
Wear clean underwear and bras every day. Don’t wear the same nasty, smelly bra everyday
Spray your body with your favorite perfume. A rollerball perfume applies it directly to your skin, which will make the fragrance stay longer on your skin.

Review of Elizavecca’s Milky Piggy Vitamin C 21% Ample Mask
Elizavecca is a brand that has 20+ years of history in making skin care products, they’ve expanded somewhat internationally. Their purpose is to create and develop different kinds of skin therapy in order to help make your skin healthy. Their Milky Piggy Vitamin C 21% Ample Mask is designed with a heating effect for brighter, more even-toned and exceptionally radiant skin. It’s recommended for people who suffer from dull skin, uneven texture and skin tone. Key ingredients include: 21% of ascorbic acid (vitamin C; antioxidant, treats UV damage, brightening), sunflower seed oil (moisturizing, high in vitamin E, anti-aging, nourishing, soothing), polypeptides (anti-aging, boosts collagen, nourishing) and oregano leaf extract (antiseptic, treats acne, antifungal, antioxidant, soothes skin infections, tones redness, moisturizing). This product retails for between $12-18 USD, you can get it here for $12.38 + free shipping.
Ingredients
Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Ascorbic Acid (21%), Butylene Glycol, Sodium Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Water, Isohexadecane, Helianthus Annus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Polysorbate 80, Fragrance, Sorbitan Oleate, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, rh-Polypeptide-58, rh-Oligopeptide-2, rh-Polypeptide-1, rh-Polypeptide-3, rh-Oligopeptide-1, rh-Polypeptide-9, Bixa Orellana (Achiote) Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Origanum Vulgare (Oregano) Leaf Extract, Chamaecyparis Obtusa Leaf Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Lactobacillus/Soybean Ferment Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Cinnamomum Cassia (Chinese Cinnamon) Bark Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract
To quickly note, I received this free from 0.8 Liter for my honest review, this post is not sponsored.
Tumblr media
This mask contains 100 ml (3.38 oz) and has a slightly sour, citric acid scent.
Tumblr media
The mask comes with a cute little applicator as do most other Elizavecca products.
Tumblr media
The mask is a light orange color and starts to heat upon contact with the skin.
Tumblr media
The mask spreads out really nicely and feels very moisturizing.
Tumblr media
Once it’s rinsed off, it leaves a brighter and moisturized finish.
Recommended use is to take an appropriate amount of the mask after washing skin, toning and applying lotion. Apply it on the skin and absorb evenly. It can also be gently massaged onto cleansed skin and let it work for 20 minutes. Afterward, rinse off with warm water. After using, firstly, it’s a very pleasant mask to use, the heating function really helps the ingredients to penetrate more easily to moisturize and soothe the skin. It really does help with dullness and uneven skin tone. The mask has a fairly strong citric acid scent and even has a tangy flavor (lol). I do think this might not the best for sensitive skin and the fragrance is also kind of strong. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs brighter, less dull skin.
What I like: this mask is really effective at brightening my skin as I really have a lot of dullness and I do like how this mask smells. The texture of the mask is also very smooth and it’s deeply moisturizing and nourishing. I also liked how soothing it was to use and the ingredients are really effective. I also appreciate the heating function. What I don’t like: the scent might be an issue for sensitive people and the ingredients could be irritating to very sensitive skin.
Pros:
Moisturizing
Soothing
Heats up
Nice ingredients
Nice to use
Scent
Cons:
Some irritants
Fragrance
Would I buy this?
Yes

Key ingredients for sheet mask: 1000.0083ppm of sodium hyaluronate (anti-aging, anti-wrinkle, hydrating, moisturizing, healing), 10.0166ppm of hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid (designed to easier penetrate the skin, stimulates collagen synthesis, moisturizing) and 0.83ppm of hyaluronic acid (retains moisture, aids collagen synthesis, anti-aging). This product retails for between $6-14 USD, you can get a box here for $68.99 + free shipping.
Ingredients
Step 1:
Water, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Dipropylene Glycol, Alcohol, Pentylene Glycol, Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, Gluconolactone (1,000ppm), Panthenol, Butylene Glycol, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan) Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, Sodium Citrate, Polysorbate 80, 1,2-Hexanediol, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance
Step 2:

To quickly note, I received this for a small fee from 0.8 Liter for my honest review, this post is not sponsored.
Tumblr media
This mask has two parts (as stated above).
Tumblr media
The first part is the peel off mask and that comes in a cute diamond drop shape.
Tumblr media
This peel off mask contains 4 grams (0.14 oz) and has a slightly sweet, pleasant skincare scent.
Tumblr media
The sheet mask contains 26 grams (0.91 oz) and has a slightly musky skincare scent.
Tumblr media
The peel-off mask is like most others, it’s sticky and clear.
Tumblr media
It takes about 15-20 minutes to dry down and peels off pretty easily without pulling on hairs.
Tumblr media
The masks material is very soft and clings well to the skin. The eyes, nose and mouth holes all fit pretty comfortably. I did notice that the masks essence did make the mask slide around my face a little bit though.
Recommended use for the peeling mask: open the upper part of the mask and pull out the filler pack and then fold over the cover line. After cleansing face, apply the pack to the entire face, avoiding the eyes, eyebrows and mouth area, be careful to avoid hair. After about 20 minutes when the mask is completely dry, peel off gently from the edges. Recommended use for the sheet mask: Open the sheet mask portion and pull out the mask, apply it over the entire face, attaching it to the curves of the face. Wear for 10-20 minutes and then remove. Pat remaining essence into the skin. After using, the peel off mask was effective and did not pull on my baby hairs or skin too much, so I really do think this is ideal for people with sensitive skin or who just want something gentle to use. The scent is noticeable but not too strong and I personally really enjoyed the scent. The packaging is also quite beautiful. The sheet mask had a nice fit and it did slide a little bit but it stopped after a little bit. The scent is kind of strong and slightly musky. The essence was very nourishing and deeply moisturizing. It soothed any irritation or redness in my skin and the results last over 24 hours. This is also quite a nice mask to use before big events (i.e., wedding) and under makeup, because it’s so nourishing and moisturizing, it leaves a very smooth base. I’d recommend this to anyone with very dry skin or aging skin or if you want a very special mask for something big.
What I like: the peel off mask is so gentle and it does a good job of exfoliating and removing dead skin without irritating my face. The ingredients are lovely and effective and the packaging is pretty. The sheet mask is so nourishing and moisturizing. It’s really everything you could want in a mask. The ingredients in the mask are also really nice quality and the peel off mask has a pleasant scent. The effects of both are long lasting, over 24 hours and my skin remained even toned and hydrated long after using. What I don’t like: the fragrance on the mask isn’t my favorite, but an otherwise wonderful mask.
Pros:
Moisturizing
Nourishing
Toning
Gently exfoliating
Gentle to use
Long lasting effects
Eliminates redness
High quality
Great to use before makeup application
Cons:
Fragrance
Would I buy again?
Yes
Rating: 1000/10

My nighttime routine.
Heyyyyyy everyone
Here’s another post for my skincare journey series! This time, it’s my NIGHTTIME ROUTINE! AKA the long post. I’ll preface this by saying this is a long routine...it take me - on average - 30 minutes per night to complete the full routine. On top of this, there are variations to my nighttime regimen, as I do different things and use different products on specific nights throughout the week. However, some steps are repeats from my morning routine so I won’t go into too much detail on the repeated steps. So, with that being said, I’ll just jump in!
OIL CLEANSE: Just like my day/morning routine, I use the Boscia Makeup-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil. Works great as a makeup remover.
WATER CLEANSE: Again, just like the morning, I use the same cleanser (AWAKIIN BEAUTY Charcoal Face Wash). No further explanation, it’s great :)
EXFOLIATE w/ Clarisonic Mia Prima Sonic. Unlike my morning routine, I use my Clarisonic every night, not only to get a deeper cleanse, but also as a very gentle exfoliator. I DO NOT use other physical exfoliants on my face like harsh scrubs, but I do microdermasion once a week. Using the Clarisonic helps with removing the dead skin without scrubbing my face off.
STEAM: Ahhhh...one of my favorite parts of my regimen, and one of two reasons this routine takes longer than anticipated. Granted, I only steam for 5-7 minutes each night, but it adds up. I learned recently that steaming your face does not open up your pores, as our pores do not have muscles so that cannot contract. However, steaming basically helps with melting the gunk in your pores so it can be extracted much easier. That’s why I love steaming, and also because it’s just so relaxing for my face (#selfcare).
TONE: So this is similar to my morning routine, but with some differences. First, I like to switch back and forth between 2 toners each day. I still use the Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner, but I only use it on Moday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. However, on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, I use The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution. I only use this toner 3x/week because it is pretty strong with a bigger percentage of glycolic acid. I love both, and I love using glycolic acid on my face to help with cell turnover and chemical exfoliation.
ESSENCE: Same as my morning routine. EXCEPT, I use the 7 skin method instead of the 4 skin method. On the nights I use the Benton toner, I’ll switch back and forth between that and the Fresh Black Tea Kombucha Antioxidant Essence until I get to 7 layers total. But when I’m using The Ordinary toner, I only use 1 layer of that toner, but I’ll do the 7 skin method only with the Fresh essence. Yeah, that sounds complicated, but that’s why my entire routine is in my Notes app in my phone hahahaha.
SERUM: So I also switch back and forth between two serums at night. One is the Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum with Konjac Root, Hyaluronic Acid, and Ferulic Acid. Just like my day serum, I love using a vitamin c serum for brightening and discoloration; it’s helped a lot. So I’ll use the vitamin c serum on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday not only because vitamin c is a little stronger, but also because I’m very careful with what ingredients I’m using together in the same routine. I have a toner/serum schedule set up because I do not want to mix vitamin c with an AHA, so I use The Ordinary toner and the Mad Hippie serum on separate days. I’ll make a separate post about this. The other serum I use on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday is The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + Ha 2%. I only just started using this because I love using AHA in my routine, and using glycolic acid with lactic acid is a recipe for great/clear skin!
SHEET MASK: My other favorite step and the 2nd reason this routine takes so damn long. I used to only use a sheet mask 1-2x/week, BUT after a lot of researching and obsession, I use a sheet mask 4 days per week. However, I use some kind of mask every day of the week. I love sheet masks primarily because they’re so easy and low-maintenance. You don’t have to wash them off when time’s up, and you don’t have to wash it off your hands after you’ve applied it. It’s basically a serum, so when 20 minutes is up, I just gently pat the remaining serum into my face, neck and chest area. I have too many sheet masks to count, so there’s not a specific one I’ll recommend, but as for brands, I really like Tony Moly’s masks, which you can find at Ulta and Amazon, which is where I buy 90% of my skincare products. The other 10% from Sephora. I won’t go much deeper into this, as I’ll do a separate post.
JADE ROLL: I will do this while my sheet mask is on for two reasons: 1, because it’s doing two steps at once and it’ll condense the time, but 2, it helps the mask stick and stay on my face better. And three (yeah there is a third reason), it just feels so damn nice. I put both sheet masks and my jade roller in the fridge so the cooling sensation is great! I got mine from an Instagram store that I don’t remember the name of, but you can get them at Ulta, Sephora, and Amazon. Here’s one you can get for a good price.
EYE CREAM: Same reason as my morning routine, but I use a different one at night. Even though I don’t have dark circles, I still like a brightening effect for my eyes. So I like using the Botanics All Bright Refreshing Eye Roll-On. Again, I don’t really see a difference as I don’t have dark circles, but it feels nice because of the metal roller ball. I put this in my fridge too, so it feels great at night.
EMULSION: I use the same product that I use in the morning, but i like using this at night because it’s kind of a  pre-moisturizer. I won’t explain too much, as I already have in my morning routine, but I use the SkinFood Peach Sake Emulsion.
MOISTURIZE: I also switch off two moisturizing products each night because I’m that extra. I like using a sleeping mask, but not every night as it is very heavy. So I’ll use the Valjean Labs Renew Sleeping Mask, which I got in a set with the Day Serum at TJ Maxx. I guess this product is discontinued because I can’t find a link for it to purchase, so I’ll link another sleeping mask I was using before I purchase this one, which is the MCK Spirulina Sleeping Mask. I like this one; they both work well for overnight moisturizing. The MCK one is nice because it smells like lemon.  The nights I don’t use a sleeping mask, I’ll use an oil, and I like the Mario Badescu Rose Hip Nourishing Oil. Now, true to told, I didn’t need to buy this specific rosehip oil. I’ve used other brands of rose hip oil before and they worked just fine. And this oil was $22, so if you don’t have the money to blow, I wouldn’t get this. However, I like this more than other rose hip oils because it’s a little bit thinner than other oils I’ve use, so it’s a lot less heavy on the skin. So honestly, I may repurchase this, I might not, but I think it’s nice for oilier skin because it isn’t so heavy. Rose hip oil is great for dark marks/scars and intense moisturization.
So that’s the end of the skincare products, but I also end my routine with an eyelash/eyebrow serum and a lip balm for moisturizing my lips. For the last serum, I’ve been using the Hairgenics Lavish Lash – Eyelash Growth Enhancer & Brow Serum. And OMG, I’ve noticed such a difference since I’ve started using it. My eyelash grew within just a couple weeks of use, so i’ll use that on my lash root and brows each night. And then I’ll use whatever lip balm is lying around that works for me, but the one that’s been on my desk is the Jack Black The Stick Natural Lip Balm, which I got in a set with their SPF lip balm that is in one of my bags for the daytime.
I’ll also use a trentinoin cream as needed for any breakouts I’m having. I used to use it every night for my acne as prescribed by my dermatologist, but since my skin’s cleared up, I feel less inclined to use it. That may change once day and I’ll have to go back to using it, but I don’t want to use it for a long period of time.
Last things to mention are the other masks/treatments I use throughout the week.
1. On Wednesday nights, I’ll either use my microdermabrasion machine (IG store also, and I can’t remember which one), or I’ll use a very gentle scrub that I actually got in my most recent FabFitFun box. This is just an extra way to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells. Only 1x/week works for me. I also use a clay mask, and right now I use the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay mixed with water (NOT APPLE CIDER VINEGAR, I will not put that on my face - too acidic). It’s just good for cleaning out my pores, especially after a good microderm treatment.
2. On Friday nights, I use an AHA/BHA chemical peel after I steam my face. I’m using The Ordinary Peeling Solution 30ml AHA 30% + BHA 2%. When you put this...it feels like a bunch of tiny needles poking into your face. It doesn't hurt per se, but it itches for about a minute. You CANNOT keep this mask on for longer than 10 minutes, so it’s quick as well as effective. It also has the same color and consistency as blood, which is both weird/creepy and awesome at the same time.
3. On Sunday, I like using a moisture mask. I’ll either use the Onyx Youth Magnet Mask, which has taken over the depths of Instagram. I really like this mask, not only for the cool magnetic feature, but also because I don’t wash this mask off; it’s kind of like a heavy serum that you just rub into your skin after your remove the dark stuff with the magnet wand. The other mask I’ve been using is another mask I got in my winter FabFitFun box, which is the AHAVA Hydration Cream Mask. I’m not sure if you can get this on Amazon as I didn’t see it, but it’s available on the FabFitFun website! I like the AHAVA mask a little more because it’s quicker, but I like both for hydrating/moisturizing.
Annnddd that’s it. WHEW, another long ass post done.
