Using a Dice bot helps. But then you get people who "prefer to use their dice". Homie, pretty click clack rocks are sick, I get that, but they acting sus sometimes.

The game can get wild and I understand when players need time to think in these cases. I had a case were my party fought darklings (I think the name was). They were trying to capture them, so the darlings ran and cast darkness. Then someone else cast entangle. So yeah, my players had to stop and think how to proceed with this. I think there was one more thing, can't remember.

Sunday MEGA drop. Even though I forgot the rest of the week. So yeah, Dming for 7 years. Sometimes you look back and think "man, I could of done better" but that's life. And besides, my players were equally as new to dnd so they all had fun regardless.

I had a wagon driver (idk if that's the technical name but whatever), called him Joey. They were like "JOEY WHEELER". So I kept the name. They preceeded to let this man do whatever he wanted. He was a terrible wagon driver. He broke it multiple times because he would hit holes constantly to make the wagon shake. The party didn't care. They almost died once because they broke a wheel in lizardfolk territory.

Again, scheduling is such a pain. My friend has a policy that we will DM anytime, but someone else has to get the players together.

Fun story, I've done this to my players. I wanted a hook for the session, even went as far as to give a player the Donkey for free in character creation just to set this up. He was being added in, they found him knocked out with his Donkey missing.

Never played 1e or 2e yet. This was jarring when glancing the system over for the first time. Getting used to 3e-5e, and then seeing the thaco system. Definitely neat to see our little games humble orgins.

Dnd is so much fun, I honestly loose track of time easy. I typically use my phone for resources while dming, which helps since it has the time handy.

I've had 3 sessions fizzle in a row once. I couldn't believe it. I think it was in the span of 3 months or something. I had each one prepped and everything. Then the next session I joined did die, but took a few games and at least we got 1 good adventure out of it.

I do like to map time and stuff for this reason. Ill get players that take 3 long rest in a row. That's fine, but the world continues around them. Idk, I feel bad when the warlock can't shine because the wizard is always at full rested.

Remember, as a DM, you must be fair and just. Unless they do dumb stuff (like play a human), then it's being ambushed by a hydra that drank a fire immunity potion (which now that I said it, omg that sounds like hell).

I probably will. My current set up isn't the best for it atm though. Too much effort just to get pictures in place to make the template. Until I get the energy, this stays true.

It can be an issue trying to do diplomacy when you have a character who is always Gung ho, attack first talk later, type. But that's the hobby and there is that give and take.
