BIG UPDATES EVERYONE!

Introducing Jezebeth, who is character made by @beanswithbones​ for DMC:Forgotten Sins story (the DMC AU is made by @mariana-souza​) but I and Mari helped a little with her design (I helped with clothes, Mari with DT which isn’t posted yet).

If you remember the beginning of DMC:Forgotten Sins fanfiction (can be found here) it featured a character called Kain. His character is replaced by Jezebeth at this point. Michael belongs to the Cyan part of the story, which focuses on Vergil and Nero more. Jezebeth is more present in Magneta part of the story, whose focus is on Dante and Kyrie as mentor and appretince. 

I wanted to make this comic for longer time. @mariana-souza came up with a great idea of Michael's (who is my original character) rather difficult relationship with Sync. In DMC: Forgotten Sins (which belongs to @mariana-souza) Sync stabilizes a hybrid's magic. As a result the said magic calms down - getting weaker from its awake state (which happens in combat).

Michael tends to be afraid of his powers and he developed a coping mechanism by using Sync whenever he starts feeling his demonic power gets too strong.

So that's what the comic is showing.

It’s Day 6 of 2nd round of DMC OC Week!

It’s a Family prompt. Despite the fact I present Michael from DMC: Forgotten Sins (by @mariana-souza ) AU there is no difference in regards to his background or his family. You can check out what I’ve prepared for this prompt last year here.

Presenting part 2 of DT Transformation prompt.

I feel like the most characteristic DMC:Forgotten Sins’ (by @mariana-souza) lore piece is the PDT (Petit Devil Trigger) forms. Any demon hybrid is capable of turning into this form… though it took Dante and Vergil a very long time to discover. XD

Michael finds turning into this small ball of fire a very confusing experience the first time he did it…

Here I will cover some Abilities prompt for Michael from @mariana-souza ‘s DMC:Forgotten Sins AU. Michael has pretty much the same abilities which I described last year in this post. Here I will only describe an ability I haven’t really describe yet.

Sketch above looks intriguing because of that rather unexpected heterochromia! This is what happens when Michael uses both his fire and electric magic at the same time. It happens when he combines them into Mirage ability to change his look to the viewer. It includes changing his voice as well. The only way to detect his well-made magical disguise is to look at his own reflection. This is why Michael has to be careful while using the ability and makes sure that the place, where he’s going to use his Mirage ability, doesn’t have any reflective materials around.

His Mirage ability also allows him to create very convincing clones of himself, though those cannot speak or act independently from him.

Presenting part 1 of DT Transformation prompt.

I posted this art before aaaaaand I have to make some stuff clear here. You don’t see it on this sketch but in DMC:Forgotten Sins (by @mariana-souza​) while Michael’s DT form would looks mostly like on this concept art above but some parts of his body would reveal his human form.

It’s due to the fact he’s turned into a demon in 40%. This is why his DT form would be a bit incomplete in 10% - revealing not turned parts. Visually borders between turned and not turned spots have some kind of electric effect.

He’s capable of partial DT to summon his wings only as seen here. Michael can use them for flight, offensive attacks or blocking incoming blows.

This is a part of… Powers prompt in a way? That’s quite important piece of lore actually.

@mariana-souza ‘s DMC: Forgotten Sins introduces the idea that any hybrid possesses human, demon or/and angelic parts, which can reflect characters’ inner conflicts or dynamics between these halves. I love this concept in DMC5 with V and Urizen reflecting on what’s going on inside Vergil, so I really adored that Mari introduced the idea onto the rest of the hybrid characters. 

I had to wonder what kind of dynamic happens between Michael’s halves. I’d say he’s still at the stage where he isn’t fully accepting of what happened to him. He often blames himself and finds himself a fool for being so easily deceived and tricked by the cult, by Lilith.

His human half (called Mike by Fenix) regards himself as “Michael” and sees Fenix (the demon half) as an unwanted intruder. He views himself as the true “Michael” and refuses to accept that he’s now just one of the parts of Michael. Since he couldn’t really get rid of Fenix he put him in chains to control and isolate him. Fenix is a very young demon half - just 8 years old. Probably the youngest one in the DMC:FS crew. He’s capable of showing signs of wisdom but in the end he’s still a (demonic) child. It’s reflected in his hot tempered nature. He is this side of Michael, which expresses his true feelings without limits. This is something that Mike - human half - feels often uncomfortable about and tends to silence Fenix. 

In DMC fandom we usually saw Vergil’s human half as the “good part” even if it’s inaccurate but ignoring that, Michael’s human half is the opposite following this simplified logic. He’s repressive and even abusive towards Fenix. Mike feels he needs to temper and control Fenix at all costs. This is why this demon half is put on chains, which the human half is very reluctant to remove. Mike’s acts manage to lead to getting close to even tragic results at some point…

Of course through the story Michael himself starts to understand the need of appreciating his abilities and view them from a different perspective. This is why the more he uses his powers, the stronger Fenix becomes - making the demon half grow in size. Good to remember that the demonic half is chained. Chains don’t grow with him… What do you think will happen?

Presenting Weapons prompt.

Here is DMC:Forgotten Sins (by @mariana-souza) Michael wielding a Saint Weapon called Catalyst. Oh, well, what all these words mean? Saint Weapon is an equivalent of a Devil Arm but instead of hurting demons/demon hybrids, it harms angels/angel hybrids. Catalyst is useless against demons/demon hybrids but it’s great against angels/angel hybrids.

Catalyst spreads out dust made of material, which easily conducts Michael’s demonic power - especially his electric magic (hence his eyes shine pink here). Breathing it in - what’s difficult to avoid - results in Michael being able to take full control over angels (weaker than him power-wise or they will be able to resist his take over of their minds). 

Catalyst looks like a lasso and it can be used for conventional combat as well. From entangling his angelic enemies, pulling them to himself to throwing them around - even several times larger creatures than himself. Catalyst can be used against demons in a limited way - by pulling heavy objects in their direction.

Besides for that he uses Aces of Spades - twin daggers made of some Devil Arm. 

Just realized this fits Day 3 (Prompt: Past) of DMC OC Week too. So…. These are sketches showing a bit of Michael’s past. In DMC:Forgotten Sins (by @mariana-souza), Michael’s past is mostly the same like in canon - I described it last year in this post. 

As a 17 year old he joined a cult worshipping Mundus. During that he was… tricked into a ritual he didn’t want to go through. It wasn’t actually successful at what it was supposed to do… in canon it was because of some random circumstances. In FS, Victor and Dante intervened and stopped the ritual until it was too late for Michael. He still ended up partially turned, no longer the same as he used to be. After all… he was born just a human. But now he no longer really is.

After the ritual he was taken by Victor. There was many reasons for Victor to keep Michael. One of them was also simply making sure this boy won’t hurt anyone with power he doesn’t understand and didn’t even expect to have. But what’s more important - to help Michael with understanding his new demonic nature as Victor simply started feeling sorry for what happened to this boy.

Addition to Day 3 of 2nd round of DMC OC Week. It’s for AU prompt.

I mean… DMC: Forgotten Sins (by @mariana-souza) is already a DMC AU… but it doesn’t hurt to make an AU within an AU then lmao.

In FS canon Michael is an artificial demon-human hybrid. In this “AU inside AU” he is an artificial (or not) angel-human hybrid. This changes the nature of his powers - he cannot use fire magic - as only demons/demon hybrids can use fire, electricity and ice magic, instead he uses water magic - since only angels/angel hybrids can use water, air and earth magic. His clothes design also needed to have a lighter color palette. It’s a sort of slight color-coding - angels having lighter design while demons have darker design.

That’s a non-serious AU. It’s basically my experimentation with design. At least angel Michael would be true to his name XD 

But I think him being a demon hybrid is a better twist with such a name.

Well, the picture presents Michael’s fears coming true. Demonic power deciding to go wild and out of his control.
