I've decided to dump some art stuff to show: 1. I'm still alive, 2. the fanfic is still alive, and 3, here's Freakazoid (aka Kyle Crane).
There was a loooooooooot of experimenting before I got to the above set of drawings (as you can see my black-lined sketches in the next set.
Additionally, Freakazoid hasn't been the only character I've been working/revamping for a while. New Mad Jack design.
I am gonna have a hard time coming back to this piece cuz I can forget how to render after some time ahahahah.

anyhow I hope you enjoy these art pieces.
Am I gonna be able to finish a lot as well as continue the fanfic this year?

Will we get to see more fanart??? Of Kyle Crane as a Sentient Infected? Or Freakazoid as you call him
Oh that's definitely a goal I wanna do. I've done a lot of rough concepts on his form but haven't executed it properly (mostly cuz the idea of how to dress a Freakazoid properly). I'll upload my final version here for sure, along with other Descent related stuff. It's always been my dream to make what I wrote have visuals if possible.

INTERMISSION I-III: FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD HUNTER
- Segment taken from Side Quest Story: Feed the Moles
“Now that you’ve integrated yourself back into society, how about taking the helm this time around?”
Crane had heard a lot of wild things out of Jack’s mouth. He’s tolerated them to a degree. This time, however.
“You’re joking,” he exclaimed vocally. Ever since he’s been welcomed into the Junction, he's refrained from using that telepathic voice of his so freely. Understandable, he didn't want to spook people off.
Good, she thought. Sometimes it felt weird hearing a voice in her head that wasn’t hers.
“With all the heroics you’ve done, you’ve earned a little trust with the Junction. So, why not take it a step further?” Jack proposed.
“There’s a fine line between a step and a leap.”
“You’ve done this before.” Jack took a confident stance in front of him. “Hearing people out. Helps them to be a little more open with you.”
“And that’s a good thing?”
“Better to make friends than enemies." She watched the hooded man scoff, pacing back and forth with hesitation. "You won’t know until you try. The worst they can do is chase us out.”
“You know the right words, don’t you?”
“I also know I’m right,” she chided. Her tone then took a slight change in seriousness as she replied, “You’re not alone in this. I got your back.”
Crane heaved out a long, heavy sigh after a moment of thinking - hoping she could just drop the idea and continue working as his front.
“I can’t believe you’re talking me into this,” his last complaint and the two headed to the Junction’s storage area. He got a pat on the back as reassurance.
The good thing about the Junction was the warehouses within the protected area. The amount of space and shelves provided everything needed to steel against the storm that was the Scanderoon outbreak; stations were set up and an assortment of items was stacked. Reserved food and oil, medical supplies, emergency supplies and infrastructure tools.
The work in organizing never ended - people walked in and out, already passing by the person in charge. Basil, the Juction’s quartermaster had pretty much stayed at the entrance for most of the day, keeping track of the faction’s inventory.
As the two runners approached, Crane spotted him - a man of medium build with graying hair. Over his right eyebrow were the past signs of a healed scratch from a Biter.
“Hey,” Crane started off skittish, trying his best to control the tone in his voice. “You’re Basil, right?”
“Yeah.” And already, Crane knew from the tone and mannerisms. Basil was wary of new faces, even faces covered up with a scarf and hood.

heyyyy I just finished the. 3rd? Third I think- reading of your fic and I'm still blown away. Not just at how well written it is, from the descriptions, to the characters themselves being so interesting and likeable, and the way you weave in events from canon, but also just the sheer length of it. Seeing the story gradually unfold has been incredibly satisfying so far.
I just wanted to jump in here and thank you for sharing your work with us, it's been an absolute joy to read. Hopefully you're having a nice day, and everything is going well!
Hello reader! Thank you very much for this reply. It really means a lot to hear people taking a shine on this and enjoying Descent. I do my best to bring out a lot into its storytelling and within the same charm as Dying Light.
I actually have gotten back to writing and managed to get a portion of the current chapter done. Here's hoping that I'll be able to post it up soon and keep up the motivation onwards but until then, I hope you'll enjoy the rest of the story!

How's the next arc going? This fic probably takes the cake as my all time favorite, its invigorating as SHIT and i've re-read it atleast 3 times now its amazing

Hi Anon thank you for the kind words. As for the next arc, it's still a slow go. A lot of things in my life get in the way, family, health and work so my priority first has to go to them. I am also still halfway working on an intermission chapter but it does boil down to getting the creativity juices flowing. I'm trying my best to find time and write so I hope you can be patient until the next chapter is up. I've said this a few times in my notes, I enjoy writing Descent too much to put it down even if I am a slow reader. Rest assured, I'll keep continuing it.
