(Original Caption): With only a gentle assist from her playwright husband, Arthur Miller, actress Marilyn Monroe is shown leaving Doctors Hospital today. She insisted on walking from the elevator to the ambulance that drove her home, just to show that she is all right. Miss Monroe underwent surgery at the hospital nine days ago to end a tubal pregnancy. Her determination to have babies remains undimmed.
The baby had been expected in March 1958. Marilyn became pregnant three times: In the summer of 1956 while filming The Prince and The Showgirl, which ended in a miscarriage, an ectopic pregnancy in the summer of 1957, and her final pregnancy was during the filming of Some Like It Hot in 1958, which ended in a miscarriage. Her gynecological problems were largely caused by endometriosis.
