Someone reblogged my post about old gays basically saying they wanted to see old lesbians. I agree with this, we need more lesbian representation so here’s an itemized list of some movies/shows with cannon lesbian couples. That being said, the reason there is a lack of lesbian representation in media is because women’s bodies are constantly sexualized. Lesbianism is constantly sexualized and fetishized in films and in society.

I would just like to say I appreciate media taking on the whole ‘old gay’ thing because, yes, representation of queer youth is important but we often forget that there are also queer people older than the age of 25. With the recent movies/shows (OFMD, Good Omens, The Last of Us, Knives out, Glass onion etc.) there’s been a lot of rep for older queer people and I think that’s just swell :)

I just finished watching Glass Onion for the third time so now you get to hear my rant about it but the details are out of order in the timeline because I’m lazy

(SPOILERS AHEAD)

When Miles lifts the gun off of Duke, we can actually see it pre-Blanc explaining it. The scene where the two hug you can see Miles take the gun and slip it into the back of his jeans.

Following the gun thing, we, the viewers actually SEE the gun itself (pre-Blanc’s explanation) when Miles goes back to the mini bar to put it in the ice bucket. Although it’s kind of hard to see it’s very clearly a gun but our eyes manipulate our minds into thinking it’s a drink because it is indeed a minibar.

They show how Miles places the drink in Dukes hand pre Blanc’s explanation but quickly distract us with the groups dynamic and Birdie.

Phillip is skeptical of Helen when she asks for Blanc, we can assume that he and Blanc have had negative run ins with people from jobs. Also Phillip might be judging Helen’s character, who she is, because he doesn’t want to put Blanc into a situation where he’s in true danger. He’s a detective not Batman.

Birdies mask at the beginning of the movie at the boat is just fucking chains across her face in diamond pattern.

Blanc doesn’t have a gag reflex when the dude in the white suit puts Miles “covid vax” down his throat. (Bc he’s 🏳️‍🌈)

Andi, when she first comes up with the idea for Alpha and starts working with Miles, is wearing dark colors. The dark blue pinstripe suit, her completely black ensamble when we see her at the Glass Onion (the bar). But when she’s challenging Miles she’s wearing both Black and white. At the trial she’s wearing a light almost off white suit. Why is this important? Because what color is Helen wearing when she shuts miles down? White. The color white is, in itself, a color that symbolizes Miles downfall.

Connecting back to the white idea, Whiskey is wearing all white (her bathing suit) when she reveals crucial information about Miles giving her the Taurus necklace for her birthday. (Which leads to his downfall when Blanc puts 2+2 together that he killed Andi)

“Im really bad at dumb things” -Blanc. The reason he didn’t catch on to what was going on with Miles earlier was because Miles is stupid. Miles is so dumb that he fucking befuddled Blanc because Miles is so stupid.

Blanc isn’t uncomfortable about his arousal around Birdie when she put her legs up on him while Miles talks about being ‘Disrupters’. He’s uncomfortable because he’s GAY and has a BOYFRIEND/HUSBAND.

There’s a bunch of owls and small trinkets of birds in Birdies room.

The movie, at the very beginning, with Miles mystery invitation box thing hints at where the envelope is hidden. The fibonacci sequence on the box has the center blocked out in black, where we will later see in the film is red which is where Miles is hiding the envelope. For fucks sake the movie even goes out of its way, with Dukes mother, to point out the sequence. (“The first one’s a fibonacci sequence” -Dukes mom).

During the dinner Whiskey is wearing the same golden chain body jewelry that Birdie was wearing earlier at the pool. So this could mean two things: 1. They have the same chain and 2. Whiskey borrowed the chain from Birdie.

Now connecting to my first point about the chain jewelry above. The reason why Miles likes Whiskey, despite her sleeping with him for the sake of Dukes channel, is because Whiskey reminds him of younger Birdie. Birdie even talks to Peg about how dazzled and amazed Miles was when he first met her and how she wishes it was like that again. Then when they’re smashing the glass sculptures, the first thing Whiskey smashes is a sculpture of a bird. Hence smashing Miles perception of her as another person he can use like he used Birdie.

“You have him turn around so he can have deniability” -Aaron Burr in Hamilton (Basically what Blanc was thinking when he walked out of the room)

When Blanc is trying to light his cigar in the “Smokeless garden” the reason the alarms go off is because because just the smoke and small flames from Blanc’s cigar could cause “another Hindenburg”.

The ending scene with Helen and Blanc after Blanc asks her if she’s ready to go home, Helen’s sitting stance mimics the Mona Lisa. Miles said “It all started with her” in reference to his success being inspired by the Mona Lisa. But it all ended with Helen and her stance at the end mimicking the Mona Lisa is meant to represent that. The beginning and end of Miles Bron.

Blanc refers to alchol as offering Helen “some courage”. Ofc as we all know alcohol is commonly referred to as “Liquid Courage”.

We should’ve known Miles was the killer for this simple reason: The glass he handed to Duke. Duke dying holding Miles’s glass is literally like a signed note. Duke died with Miles name literally written on the crime scene.

I just wanted to take a moment to point out the differences in Aziraphale's and Crowley's outfit vs the rest of the angels/demons outfits

Azi is always dressed in white to contrast Crowley's black, thats obvious, it's evil and good. But here's what I wanted to point out. Both Crowley and Azi don't fit into either of the demons/angel's "aesthetics". Crowley, for a demon, is very put together and organized. With Beelzebub, Hastur and Ligur we can see the scrappy apperance they take on in the show. Beelzebub is covered in flies and has torn clothing, Hastur constantly looks sweaty and as if he just woke up from in the mud, and Ligur is just plain scary. Crowley, on the other hand is well dressed.

He wears a clean neat blazer and clean vests/jeans. Trough the series he's also always seen taking really good care of his hair, putting it up, when it's down it looked brushed, when he cut it, it was always styled semi-neatly. And even though he doesn't value human objects as much as Azi does, (like Crowley's fifty sunglasses compared to Azi's one very old coat) Crowley still has his own vices. Unlike the other demons, Crowley, as much as it doesn't seem, he values his plants and perfection. This isn't a common value in demons, perfection, tidyness, Crowley's very presentable appearance. Even though readers/viewers semi-knew that Crowley and Azi were the odd ones out from their respective teams, their looks alone call that out.

Going back to the sunglasses, a lot of the demons wear their respective animals on their shoulders or blend it in to their general appearance. We know Crowley is a snake but he actively uses sunglasses to hide that part of him, as if he’s ashamed (we can also assume he’s ashamed of it bc he did so much as fall just hung around the wrong crowd). I think the sunglasses are also a way for Crowley to pretend to be something he is not, to hide himself. We can assume this because when he’s with Azi he rarely wears the sunglasses after they’ve become friends, this is even more prominent when Azi “dies” and Crowley isn’t wearing sunglasses at all. His sunglasses hide his vulnerability and his care for both humans and his angel.

Now on to Azi. During the large amount of Azi's screen time, he is in his human form. We see him in his semi-otherworldly/angelic form when he gets "killed" once in the whole show. What I want to point out in specific is that each angel has a different outfit for earth and for heaven. Gabriel, each time he pops up on earth he has a ever so slightly different outfit than his angelic version (the tracksuit, the scarf suit, the turtleneck). Azi on the other hand wears the same thing pretty much all the time. He has no REAL big change of outfit between heaven and earth, the only time he does have a change in outfit is when he gets discorporated. This is the first real thing that places him a part from the other angels.

Now Azi is also known, by Gabriel and a lot of the other Angel's, to indulge in human things (like the sushi, the coat, the bookshop etc.). These are things that we can assume aren't valued by Angel's (when Gabriel made the comment about the Suhsi or mistreated Azi's books). For the rest of the angel's the things that Azi indulges in are irrelevant and are "material objects". So right off the bat both Crowley and Azi have very different values and are just plainly visually the opposite of their higher up's.

Let's break this picture down a bit. All the angel's are wearing suits, thats obvious. But here's what set's Azi visually a part and what the director wants us as the viewers/readers to comprehend about the characters without watching/reading the whole story. Azi always puts his hands behind his back when he's talking to someone from the higher up's compared to the hands in front that the other angels have. Putting your hands behind your back is known to be a symbol of confidence and superiority, Angel is challenging Gabirel and the demons. Azi uses the tactic of putting his hands behind his back to almost flaunt his human indulges. Azi doesn't button his suit as a sign of rebelion, he's showing off the older vest, the golden, his stomach. All things that connect him to the human realm, all things that Angels don't care about.

One more thing that visually put's Angels outfit a part from the other Angel's is the color. All the Angels have grey tones or brown tones, most of the tones themself are closer to a cool-off white, whereas Azi wears a very white suit layered with yellow cool-tones. Yellow is the color commonly associated with god or etheral beings, so even though Azi is directly challenging Gabriel and the other angel's with his choice of outfit, he's also still conecting himself with the almighty. Still showing that he is an angel, that he still has respect for the almighty and, this might be a long shot but that Azi does what he does in the name of the almighty's values itself.
