New Hyperfixation timeeeee:
So, New York, New York looks incredible and the sets are just heavenly.
As we know by now, I am a little too in love with Emily Skinner, so naturally as one does with their favourite actor, I went looking for production pictures of her and saw this one ages ago.
Looks like a nice picture, right? Just a simple picture, some photo frames on the wall. Looks like a soldier on one side, some newspaper articles on the other. Notice anything about the ones on house right?
Lemme zoom in for you
Notice anything now? The top one has a picture on it. New York, New York is set in 1946, post ww2 so Emily’s character would have been performing in the 20s and 30s. Lemme zoom in one more time.
It’s very blurry, but if you couldn’t tell, that’s a picture of Emily in Side Show as Daisy, I’ll give you a comparison picture;
They used Emily’s half of the picture and I think that’s actually so cleaver. Like it’s perfect and the attention to detail that like only a person who pays attention to tiny details would notice, but it works so well. Like the whole thing is Madame Veltri would have performed in the 20s, Side Show is set in the 20s which is like 20 years ago in the NYNY plotline and Side Show was just under 30 years ago and Emily (obviously) looks younger in the picture. I just think it’s really fucking smart to be honest.

Well, that’s that then. No more of me asking if Bad Cinderella is good or not because it’s fucking closing. The show has been open for only just about 3 months. THREE MONTHS.
I don’t understand musical theatre fans anymore, you may not like a show, but you don’t have to bully the cast, crew and so forth because you don’t like the show. You don’t have to bully them to the point that they close the show. You don’t have to celebrate when the show closes.
DO YOU NOT REALISE HOW MANY FUCKING PEOPLE ARE GOING TO LOSE THEIR JOBS? IT’S NOT AS IF THEY ARE FUCKING MILLIONAIRES. DO PEOPLE NOT REALISE THAT BEING AN ACTOR ON BROADWAY IS ONE OF THE MOST UNSTABLE JOBS A PERSON CAN HAVE?
You have NO guaranteed job, NO guaranteed pay, NONE OF IT. YOU CAN BE IN A SHOW ONE MINUTE AND UNEMPLOYED FOR MONTHS, YEARS EVEN, STRUGGLING TO PAY BILLS AND JUST LIVE. Just because they’re actors, doesn’t mean they’re rich. They may have fancy gowns and suits but they still have families and money doesn’t last forever.
So before I end this rant that should never have had to happen, I’d like to apologise to ANYONE who is in Bad Cinderella because to be completely fair, they deserve WAYYYYYYYY better than the treatment they’ve been receiving. THEY ARE HUMAN BEINGS FOR FUCKS SAKE, THEY AREN’T JUST THERE FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT, THEY HAVE FEELINGS.
I feel really ashamed of the theatre fans right now and embarrassed by some people's behaviour and the audacity they have to say such hurtful things about something that the talented cast of Bad Cinderella worked hard on.
The only thing I can do is hope that the cast and crew have a happy and fun time while the show is open, and a happy closing AND I hope they all get to be a part of some really fucking great shows because they deserve praise and awards and first and foremost, respect.

Listen, I have never seen Bad Cinderella. I know people say it’s crap and all that BUT I have heard positive things about the B-Way version. Like there was a review where the person said it was very camp which made up for it, so I really hope it’s actually good cause otherwise I just feel sorry for the cast who put in their time, effort, blood, sweat, tears, vocals, dance moves, acting skills, mind and heart into it because you can tell they’re having fun and that they enjoy it and if it doesn’t do well or isn’t that great then that just really hurts my heart. I would also feel sorry for the crew as well cause the lighting looks great from what I’ve seen and the set is beautiful and the costumes for like the ball are GORGEOUS, I mean...
Look at the construction, that’s stuff that takes hours and hours of hard work and loads of money too, so it just kinda sucks for the cast and crew I guess. I really hope it’s good though. If anyone has seen it on B-Way feel free to give opinions, they would be appreciated.
