A little business and fun
So I’m in Greensboro right now. I’m going to see if I can take a couple of classes today and Friday, and then later in September for an interpreter certification. I have a BA in Spanish, but it’s only for literature, and every time I tried to get a job as a translator or interpreter, the excuse was, “Well you don’t have any experience or certs.” I hope this will change that.
Maybe I’m a little too obsessed in this regard, but I really want a job where I can do something useful. Genuinely useful! Not be a cog in the machine. I just want to do more with myself, and do better at life.
I also want to say that I’m finally going to have some time to be online with friends during the evening hours! I know I’ve been bad about keeping in touch with everyone lately. I’m just getting old and man I need at least 8 hours of sleep anymore. I can’t go on 6 hours, then work 12 hours at night and feel fine. My apologies!

was scheduled for execution when luke and han freed her from her cell and still gave them a shit about it
proclaimed her love to a smuggler in front of half the empire before he was frozen in carbonite
blinks whenever she shoots; still manages to kill troopers
impulsively pursued a trooper on endor, tried to get him to fall from his bike, fell from her bike herself, then waited until said trooper hit a tree so she could faint
rescued her lover from jabba and when he couldn’t see her, instead of saying her name, said ‘someone who loves you’
told a guy he had an awful smell while suggesting vader is the emperor’s dog, all within one sentence
was virtually proclaimed the ewok princess while wearing a brand new dress while her friends were going to be the ewoks’ dinner
kissed her own brother in order to make the guy she likes jealous
insulted the millennium falcon and her pilot right before they were supposed to save her (on more than one occasion)
ignored han as he tried to save her from echo base by bossing people around when they were all supposed to evacuate
willingly almost let chewie choke lando
yelled ‘IT’S A TRAP!’ dramatically first
called han a stuck up half-witted scruffy looking nerf-herder; made out with him 3 days later
legit made out with han in front of darth fucking vader

We’ve still got a couple of other photosets to go before I’m even done exploring this hotel. In the meantime, take a look at some of the sights and passenger cars/rooms outside the lobby area. I see exactly why someone would want to stay here, though this wasn’t my hotel for the trip.

This hotel used to be the city’s train depot. It’s so nice on the inside! I couldn’t get enough of all the neat old architecture in the building. Also check out the old switchboard in the 5th picture. That device helped route incoming and outgoing trains back in the day. And hey, I came at an opportune time! I had no idea I’d arrive during the building’s 100th anniversary.

Some thoughts on the SU wanted arc 2: Off colors
*Let’s cut to the chase! Uh oh. Yellow wants Steven’s head on a silver platter, and I can’t imagine Blue being too forgiving anymore with her palanquin destroyed. Wait....oh crud the guys are still in danger! Wait....oh wow new gems!!!
*Aw! Two gems that accidentally got stuck together before emerging. The Rutile Twins seem so nice, and they finish each other’s sentences a lot.
*Oh my gosh! More gems! Poor Padparascha. :( I know it may not seem useful to have a Sapphire that gives predictions on things that have already happened, but that seems so cruel to just throw her away like that. She could still do a lot of other useful stuff if the Great Diamond Authority would think outside the box a little bit. One thing is similar to our Sapphire though, she seems to entirely shut out the present and concentrate on visions.
*Aw! Rhodonite is so adorable! I tend to love the shy and panicky characters, and she seems like a bit of both. And a bit of a protective big sis type to gems too. Ooh, this Morganite she used to work for sounds like bad news. I looked it up and Morganite is a type of quartz, so for her to have Rhodite’s component gems working for her....Morganite must be a high ranking quartz soldier who is some serious bad news!! I have a feeling we might be seeing her way later.
*Wha???!!! A giant caterpillar gem?! Oh wow, Flourite is neat too! And well, well, Sugar! Giving us a little hint at certain relationship types here. *Wink* Flourite seems like a wise old woman.
*Oh man, those creepy sensors are back! Nice! Lars found a loophole on accident! Man the way humans are immune to a lot of gem technology is going to seriously come back to bite Homeworld. I have no doubt about it!
*Lars man! You did something right for the first time in your life! Several things! *Mutters* It’s about time.....oh. Oh dear. Hey Lars, you okay man? This doesn’t look good.
