He glanced at his companion, their own aura not the same as any mortal’s. It would be rude to ask, but he wondered if they had inhuman blood running through their veins. In any case, he did not believe them to be nefarious; a malicious individual wouldn’t be so curious or ask an eager, lighthearted question. ❝ A glaze lily as tall and wide as a tree would certainly be a sight. There are folktales of small people who live in flora and mushrooms alike; would you live in a tree-sized flower, given the chance? ❞

Kelain shook their head with a light chuckle.

“It wouldn’t be very comfortable; liquids tend to gather in the petals, especially after it rains, and they still attract insects. But if you mean like carving out a space in the stem that wouldn’t work either because it’d just kill the poor flower, and trying to strengthen it with dendro energy makes the carved out portion grow back.” A slight pause. “They’re nice shade on a hot day though.”

Hopping down from the fence post, Kelain slipped their wooden sandals back on. Talking with Zhongli was nice. It was hard to find people from Liyue who were willing to entertain flights of fancy. They were always so busy, even for humans. But Zhongli had a bit of a calming air about him not unlike the tea he favored, and Kelain found that they enjoyed his company. They had their suspicions regarding the golden glow of his eyes, but chose to say nothing until they had more reason to be certain.

With the violent tumbling and shaking underway, the lone spirit was left with no choice but to watch the mortal world through the visions being displayed to her within the domain. At least, that is how the situation seemed to play out until minutes had passed and the rumbling had soon quieted down; a gaze through the mist-like haze had shown that what she was incased in had since settled onto the ground. Inhaling a deep breath, she’d felt relieved that the nauseous feeling from deep within her stomach would finally begin to settle after feeling like she had been man-handled and tossed around so carelessly for what felt like forever. It had not even been that long since the spirit had awoken, much less without a clue of where she was and who she was to be exact. The question itself was startling enough, but there seemed to of been more pressing matters at hand when another round of thugs had come charging in sight from beyond the haze. Through this next battle, a serious of clouds began to rolls by and loom overhead, slowly casting their shade below as it covered the field in which the fight was breaking out. Amongst those covered in shade was the casket, now lonesome and forgotten amongst those fighting. An eerie glow illuminated through the canine-liek figure; eyes forever watching, pointed at the scene where the spirit was already viewing from. Within the domain itself, a shadow-like portal began to ripple across the space; small in stature and weaving in-and-out of existence due to the darkness from the outer realm being weak in the daytime.

She’d paused at the sight, staring at the inky blackness with a sense of familiarity that she couldn’t quite put a finger on. To most, the dark realms would seem terrifying and daunting, yet to a being that had once been raised in such a world, it was inviting despite having no recollection as to why it would feel such a way. Even so, she’d taken the chance to run out of the portal provided to her before it’d closed up completely, landing her just a few feet away from the tomb in which she’d been sealed away in for all these years with a stumble in her steps.

A bottle filled with combustible liquid sailed through the air, and was promptly snatched and thrown back by a vine made of light. Kelain wasted no time, snapping their vines at the foolhardy thieves, snatching tools and weapons from their hands, hurling them right back at their owners, yanking their legs out from under them and sending them flying through the air like rag dolls.

And the whole time, Kelain laughed.

They were having fun, after all. When a hurled pitchfork drew blood, when bodies cracked against the craggy rock, they paid no mind. These humans would gladly slaughter them, after all, if they weren’t so hopelessly outmatched. Not that Kelain struck to kill with each blow, but neither did they reign in their strength nor shed any tears over the ones who fell and did not get back up.

Their cries of pain, or the words of fury and hatred that the spat, didn’t faze Kelain in the slightest. The only thing that drew their attention was when the sky, clear moments ago, turned suddenly and totally dark.

“Eh?” The vines stilled as Kelain’s eyes traveled to the clouds. “It didn’t smell like rain before...”

It didn’t smell like rain, but there was an odd energy to the air; the elemental energy from the coffin. It had changed. It was more prominent now, billowing out into the surrounding area like smoke from a bonfire. Forgetting the humans for a moment, Kelain turned their attention back to the coffin.

Just as a strange person fell from a hole in the air.

The moon that the world of Teyvat shouldered in space and illuminated the sky was certainly a sight to behold with mystery and wonder. Zhongli had spent many a night staring up at the celestial body ( alongside the Yakshas in times of war, walking under the moonlight with Guizhong’s laughter filling the air, lost in thought wandering the Harbor streets alone ), but has yet to tire of its beauty. He turned toward the other, the one who had an aura not quite human.

❝ Hm, what a peculiar thought. Indeed, the moonlight would be a sore sight to miss. Glaze lilies flourish under moonlight alone; there are no better conditions for their beauty to grow, coupled with the song of a lovely voice. Should you chance upon a glaze lily, I think you would feel the same as you do about the moonlight. ❞

Humming thoughtfully, Kelain rolled back and forth on the balls of their feet. The top of the fence post was smooth, and cool thanks to the night air. Kelain held their sandals by the straps, hands clasped behind their back as they stared up at the night sky filled with both stars and the glow of golden lanterns against the silver moon.

“I bet that Teyvat would look pretty from up there though. Oh!” Whirling on the spot, without so much as the faintest wobble, they asked, “How big do you think a glaze lily would grow if it lived on the moon?”

It would probably look like home; a world with flowers as tall as trees.

Although Kelain was born human, once the were taken in by the tree spirit they slowly began to change. They aren’t a spirit, but neither are they fully human anymore. They age slowly, have enhanced senses, and can see things that are invisible to the human eye.
