now if by this you're referring to bringing up a problem that has happened a million billion times and the entirety of your contribution is "we should do X" where X is some obvious to see but complex in practice problem and you've hashed out every possible way to get to X in the previous million billion times this has come up and they all are impossible or have worse downsides than the original problem and nothing about the situation has changed. then i can see the wisdom. but most of the time this particular discussion is just stupid battle of the sexes shit where you gender a vice/virtue pair and say "gender is above reproach, so the virtue is evil for getting in the vice's way" without actually looking at the object level of which trait is better

I think I'm a good romantic partner in many (most?) ways, but one thing I definitely continue to struggle with is the classic (and stereotypically male) issue of frequently jumping to "problem-solving mode" when a partner is upset about something, instead of "validation/sympathy mode". I've gotten somewhat better over the years, but it feels like a small update for the amount of work and time it took, to the point where I'm thinking about tattooing some kind of symbol on my arm which I can train my brain to interpret as "don't do problem-solving mode!"

no this is just straightforwardly a virtue. it's literally unambiguously good to solve problems that you can and you need to be mentally in problem solving mode first in order to determine whether you can. people who do not agree with this are simply wrong and should be suppressed, like antivaxxers and football fans

Like imagine if you really liked Pokemon and you're like, "I really don't see why people would hate this unless they're just assholes for no reason?"
